When I mrt Czarina shevhad two
Siamese, the Majormao and the Minimao. Shortly after our Steve Allenesque meeting, and shortly after the ‘gravy incident’ we were acquired by a b&w Turkish angora who showed up on her kitchen windowsill, some eight feet off of the ground.
When she found a job in NOLA she couldn’t pass up I helped move her to the city. We put the cats in her car and I drove the moving van…everything went fine until Shreveport when all three cats decided to get up into tne box spring in the motel bed. Long story short, somewhere outside of Shreveport there was a motel missing a big chunk of the fabric covering the bottom of the box springs.

Gingrich would be good because he will go head to head with President Trump when the need be. Gingrich would be not so good because he has so many ties to the people who hate Trump and want to see him destroyed.

Not sure how long Newt and Trump could co-exisist in the same space.

On Newt’s plus column is he will put his children above all things and he seems to be aware that Islamization of America is the goal of one faction and making America ungovernable is the goal of another faction of minions who will then get the dictator they are unknowingly advancing, neither of these scenarios is acceptable to Newt.

How the Military Helmet Evolved From a Hazard to a Bullet Shield

    http://www.smithsonianmag.com/smithsonian-institution/how-military-helmet-evolved-hazard-bullet-shield-180963319/

Still, no area of military personnal technology might be more indicative of how change has come to war than the American military helmet. “In 1917,” Blazich says, “when America entered World War I, we used a variation of the British helmet of the time, called the Brodie Helmet, or Mark 1 helmet.” The American helmet was called the M1917.

Effectively an overturned metal dish weighing about 1.3 pounds, with a basic liner to keep a soldier’s scalp from chafing against the helmet’s manganese-steel alloy shell, plus a solid chinstrap that cinched tight, it was a primitive tool at best. As a protective device, Blazich says, it didn’t do much more than keep explosion-driven rocks off the tops of soldier’s heads while they were in the trenches of France. “Though it could also be protective against shrapnel, which was also a big concern in that war,” Blazich adds.

Yet with no real face and side-skull coverage, it left troops wide open to facial and cranial injury, and lasting disfigurement from shell fragmentation was an enormous problem in World War I…

    • czarowniczy says:

Artillery is called the Queen of Battle as it accounts for more casuslties than any other instrument in war. The steel helmet came about to protect the soldier’s head from shrapnel, particularly air burst. As little teenynpieces of shrapnel the size of half a grain of rice traveling at thousands of feet a second do damage on impact all out of proportion to their size it was important to keep soldiers hole-free.
Helnets are now rated as protecting from penetration bybsusc-and-such a bullet at so many hundreds of yards but that’s largely as the ballistics of that bullet are known, a standard, and more easily used as a measue of effectiveness than random shrapnel.
Note German WWII stahlhelm and how it was designed to protect the head and neck from shrapnel, a design (though they didn’t want to admit it, the US used in designing its current ‘plastic pot’. Standard 7.63×39 round fired out of an AK-47 can still penetrate a current helmet to around 400 yards.

The Anonymous Sources of Washington Post and CNN Fake News
    (by Daniel Greenfield)

    http://www.frontpagemag.com/fpm/266714/anonymous-sources-washington-post-and-cnn-fake-daniel-greenfield

    Media fake news is everywhere.

No, the new health care bill does not treat rape as a pre-existing condition and Republicans did not celebrate its passage with beer.

The latest media outrage is driven by a Washington Post story about intelligence disclosures based on claims by anonymous sources. The Post’s big hit pieces are mainly based on anonymous sources.

Its latest hit piece runs a quote from, “a former senior U.S. official who is close to current administration officials.” That’s an anonymous source quoting hearsay from other anonymous sources.

    This isn’t journalism. It’s a joke.

Last week, the Washington Post unveiled a story based on “the private accounts of more than 30 officials at the White House.” The fake news story falsely claimed that Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein threatened to resign.

Rod had a simple answer when asked about that piece of fake news. “No.”

So much for 30 anonymous sources and for the Washington Post’s credibility. But the media keeps shoveling out pieces based on anonymous sources and confirmed by anonymous sources while ignoring the disavowals by those public officials who are willing to go on the record.

The Comey memo story is based on, according to the New York Times, “two people who read the memo.” And then “one of Mr. Comey’s associates read parts of it to a Times reporter.”

    And his dog. …

Thanks Stella, great piece. I also liked this part:

The Washington Post’s “Trump fired Comey because he’s taller” could easily have come from Saturday Night Live, The Onion or the Daily Show.

The truly damning epitaph of American journalism is that there isn’t much of a difference. Saturday Night Live isn’t doing comedy and the Washington Post isn’t doing journalism. They’re both manufacturing viral Trump attacks.

Getting your news from the Washington Post is as worthless as getting it from Saturday Night Live.

While more respectable papers like the Post and the Times occupy the top rung of the fake news ladder, CNN has become the National Enquirer of Trump bashing. No story is too petty or fake to get airtime or site space. Recent examples that have gone viral include, “Is the President Afraid of Stairs” and “President Gets 2 Scoops of Ice Cream, Everyone Else 1.”

Greenfield is always good, but sometimes I miss his gems. Front Page Mag isn’t on my daily trail, but should be.

I don’t know whether or not Senator McCarthy had read the book and knew why the press was smearing him.

It would be ironic if the left would now acknowledge McCarthy was right, and therefore Trump’s accusers must be right. Insert facebreaking eyeroll here.

Back to an old post: Jan Sobieski, king of Poland and Grand Duke of Lithuania, led an army to Vienna and capped his long fight against the Muslem invading hordes by driving them back into their holes. It was also Polish Pope John Paul who was critical in Polish Solidarność cracking the Soviet Union. Of footnote interest the US used Polish Special
Forces to rescue US hostages inside Iraq during Desert Storm. Yeah, you can understand why deeply and heavily Cayholic Poland might not wan’t truckloads of heathen, Catholic and Jew hating Moslems setting up theirs tents. They had enough problems with the Nazis and Communists, no need to reinfect he country.

My niece immigrated to Poland and married a citizen there, has a family. They seem to be a fierce and independent people, and not at all willing to go along with the EU mandates, if what I read from him and his friends are indicative of the population.

Incidentally, when he visited a year ago he fell totally in love with our guns, especially the ARs, and the fact that we could go out into the back pasture (at another neice’s house) and shoot them for hours. When he got back to Poland he proclaimed himself in love with Tennessee and his Facebook profile pic for a long time was a Confederate flag. I’m not really sure why he chose that, we aren’t that big a redneck family. Okay, I guess we are, now that I think about it. Not every family takes their beer, guns, and ammo into the back pasture and shoots for hours, then packs it in so the kids can have donkey rides.

Yee haw, my Polish family, booze, heavy food, guns and explosives…we call that Saturday. I built an AK out of select mint-condition parts I found out of the Radom plant. Sort of Amer-Polish fusion.
Russians were always worried about the reliability of the Poles in the event of a war and, all considered, rightly so. Most European countrys, and Russia, were really anti-Polish as the Poles introduced the first real democracy in northern Europe, made even the royal families that feigned ‘peoples’ rights’ nervous.

    – “both sides should sit down at the same table with no preconditions, and talk.”

    – “The US will not dictate how you need to live together here. That’s something that only you will decide”.

    – “Trump didn’t say settlements are an obstacle to peace. He didn’t say he wants a freeze. He said he wants to come to an understanding with the Israeli government on how the issue will be dealt with.”

    – “In 2009, Hillary Clinton insisted on a complete freeze of all building in Judea and Samaria, but Abbas still refused to come to the negotiating table. Now, we don’t have any demands that Israel freeze building, and Abbas is interested in meeting Israeli Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu without any preconditions.”

    – “I don’t know if Israel will ever have to make concessions. It’s hard to answer that question right now.”

Candidate Trump said many of these things during the campaign. Ambassador Friedman is now repeating them on his behalf.

One must conclude that in foreign policy itself, Trump meant what he said and said what he meant.

    http://www.americanthinker.com/articles/2017/05/trumps_plan_to_defeat_radical_islam.html

Exactly. Israel is not our 51st state. And Trump recognizes what I was talking about yesterday — every nation — Japan, Israel, Zimbabwe, Norway — has the right of self-determination. That’s what makes them nations and not vassals of the World Government that still hasn’t fully popped out of the putrescent womb wherein it gestates. (Sorry for the analogy, I’ve had a couple, and that’s the best way I could put it.)

I still don’t know what to make of his chess game regarding the Islamic NATO he’s backing. It doesn’t make sense to unify them even further, does it? And if so, how? So we could finally declare war against that one resultant entity?

How can anyone watch their baby starve to death before their very eyes and be so blinded by their “lifestyle” that their baby dies with an empty stomach? Everything I’ve every read tells me starvation and dehydration is a terribly way to die.

No brick throwing for me. But I am pro death penalty. 18 months ? Good grief.

There’s also, most likely, a thousand other horrible things that happened to children in America (and everywhere else), on that same day, and that it’s not good for us to get enraged.

I was enraged when Terry Schaivo was starved to death. Literally throwing things and screaming at people.

That’s all I’m saying. Rage isn’t, as far as I know, one of the gifts of the Holy Spirit.

I think we are probably use the word furious differently. It does make me furious, it should make any sane person furious that an self interested couple starved their baby to death. Furious doesn’t mean I’m raging (just looked up the definition and it is a sloppy use of the word on my part).

I agree that there are a thousand crimes committed against children eery day.

David said in one or more of his Psalms, I think in 150, especially, to essentially play your instruments with great skill. Megadeth does that. You may not like what they do, sonically, but what they do is as complex and phenomenal as any classical or rock or country or klezmer or polka.

I just remembered Megadeth, and their Christian conversion, and remembered that I don’t really like Thrash Metal, but when I listen to it now, I hear the complexity and it is as Rachmaninoff. That amazing in skill. Steve Vai good.

You CTH Treepers? You been a cop? You’ve lived a life?

You’ve seen a lot of heinous things. Read a lot of heinous autopsies.

Anger is bad. I used to be full of it. I channel my energy and thoughts in other directions, while remaining cognizant of the true true. Like the Knoxville Horror, like Zimmerman v. Martin, like Carefully-Programmed Mike Brown v. Occifer Wilson. Not to mention the hundreds of Bonhoffer pictures I’ve had the displeasure to see, but did because I thought I should. I bet there’s a Chinese Bonhoffer. And a Cambodian one.

When I read a heinous story I don’t get furious. Jaded? Probably.

The Media, such as is, wants you to get angry. With almost every story.

No television for 17 years now. No radio. Pandora, NetFilx and YouTube. I pick what I listen to, or watch. Not into being spoon-fed.

Every story on local and national news is carefully designed to make you to be angry, sad, upset, angry, dissatisfied, and angry. Most of the commercials do, too.

McCarthy was right. They succeeded by defeating him.

I agree. Sickening, infuriating, disgusting a precious baby starved to death. 7 months old 9.4 pounds, he probably lived his entire life in agony so the his parents could hold their noses in the air and say “We know better, we are better.” One very small solace is that prison food is almost all starches. Sickening.
