Yesterday, my daughter and I were going down the road and kept seeing turtles(terrapins) on the road. My kids always had to stop and pick every one up, so finally my daughter couldn’t resist and stopped. I hopped out to go back and get my grandson one. Normally you come up on one of them and they go into their shell, not this little bugger, it took off, I go to pick it up and it stretches it’s head back to try and bite me. I get in the vehicle and it’s still pretending to be a snapping turtle, my grandson says, “I can’t like that turtle Nanny!”

We’ve been planning on dumping ATT for years but Czarina’s accident was the galvanizing action that pushed us over the edge…isn’t working technology wunnerful? Jusy another day in flyover country.

Sigh….tired..can’t see my own Misteaks. Just gonna give up and go to bed.
Czarina is on a passive motion machine now, eight or more hours a day it flexes her knee slowly up to about 30 degrees on about 30 second cycles. She’s getting motion, pain’s less, swelling’s going down and knee’s floral coloring is returning to normal…ish.
She’s already making plans to return to work in a few weeks, she’s getting proficient in wheelchair and is hot to trot. She’s gonna kick my butt one day.

Last Tuesday, while I was in NOLA, she walked down to the mailbox (~900 feet ) instead of taking the ATV. She also had the big young dog with her and, on the way back, while doggie was playing run-run-run he plowed headfirst into the back of her left knee…down she went. She ended up having to scoot on her butt about 300 feet back to the house and call me. Turns out she has a tibial platform fracture, broken in two major places with some small fragments too. She’ll be on a no-weight-bearing status for six to eight weeks.
Forgot to mention that for about 100 feet of it she was scooting thru ground with poison ivy…all we’re missing is the Acme safe falling from the sky.

We felt a pretty big rumble last Saturday evening about 8:30 pm local time. They called it a 5.6 I think. DH and I were sitting in the local HS auditorium watching them perform Pirates of Penzance. Decent job for HS level drama. We were glad evacuation wasn’t necessary! Haven’t felt anything since.

All I could think about had this have happened in our old NOLA neighborhood is the ‘first responders’ would have been local thugs and would have stolen everything in your pockets.
Many years ago I happened on a fresh auto accident scene where the woman driving had flipped her car. She was upside down in the median, hanging unconscious from her seatbelt. Just a few minutes after I arrived NOPD and the ambulance arrived but her purse, groceries and stuff in her glovebox had already been stolen. Doesn’t really happen like that out here.

Back in the 1970’s, some friends of mine had an accident on the interstate on the way from MI to CO (the driver fell asleep and hit a bridge abutment.) I think it was in the middle of Iowa. One friend was killed outright and two other seriously injured. My dead friend had his wallet stolen.

I live near Detroit, not IN Detroit. Besides, this was the only time it happened to someone I knew well. The kid worked for us, and he was only 21. His dad was a fireman, and was well aware of the injuries his son had, and he was comforted that he must have died instantly.

I know of more than a few cases where first responders who’ve pilfered from their charges have been caught only to have officials sweep it under the rug. Back to my old point that as they are recruited from the population they serve they are not any better or worse than that population.

Reminded me of another incident. A young girl who worked for us was murdered in a convenience store parking lot in Detroit. She, her boyfriend, and another couple stopped to get beer on their way somewhere, and some ‘youths’ tried to rob and carjack them. She turned and ran, and they shot her in the back.

Hi, it’s Czarina. Thank you for all your prayers &comments. Green Acres was my family’s type of show: full of puns, gentle humor, silly people &light moralizing. We sat by the ONE household TV & laughed like loons together. My mother loved the Gabor sisters for their slightly ditsy elegance & style. I’ve almost given up on tv comedies because they are rarely truly funny &/or too moralizing. Bring back Barney Miller.

Hang in there girlfriend! My broken knee was also dog-related, but indirectly. We’d been out in the backyard bathing a starving stray we found 4-ish years ago and I ran into the house (in flip-flops) to grab another towel…..and went down on a cement foundation before God got the memo. My breaks don’t show up right away on x-ray, but turned out to be a clean knee-cap break. No surgery, and I could put a little weight on it after 5 days, thank God, ’cause I couldn’t “crutch” for crap. Wheelchairs ‘r us, say I….. 😀
Hurt worse than havin’ kids, that knee, and the sumb!tches at the ER gave me 2 days – 2 days!!! worth of meds. Give dope all day long to addicts, but if you’re really hurt????? Nooooooooooo……

My ER gave me a percoset at 3 am & an rx to fill the next day. Percoset ran out 5 hours later, well before pharmacy opened. & there were no refills on the 10 percoset I was given. Fortunately my orthopedist covered my needs. I am just back from my chiropractor (czar calls her my witch doctor) where I had an adjustmnet, green light laser tx, an hour in the hyperbaric chamber & 15 minutes on the Vibe, all geared to increase swelling, improve healing & decrease pain. At this point, if it helps my pain & gets me back to my activities I don’t care if she passes a cat over me & calls it a cat scan!!!

Trump’s Quiet Victories by Conrad Black

    Trump’s Quiet Victories

It requires a bit of perspective to see the trend in Washington: nothing fails to succeed like success. When presidents have threatened the Washington condominium of Tweedledee liberal Democrats and barely distinguishable Tweedledum Republicans, and then were seen as successes, opposition flaked off in retreat…

The bizarrerie of the intellectual right is illimitable. My dear and esteemed friend George Will, after an acrobatic exercise in the columnar snobbery that Trump was unaware that Andrew Jackson died 16 years before the start of the Civil War, (Jackson was concerned about the danger of civil war throughout his presidency, as George knows and Mr. Trump was alleging), has fled into the television embrace of Rachel the Madd and Mika Buzzfeed at MSNBC, the most astonishing flight since Joachim von Ribbentrop went to Moscow. They have all walked the plank; President Trump has induced self-destructive political bilharzia in the deranged effigies of once-serious and important people. I still love them, but I grieve for them… AND much more!

    http://voxday.blogspot.com/2017/05/the-man-who-destroyed-america.html

The reason white working-class Americans no longer recognize their country is because it is no longer their country. This isn’t that hard. A society is made up of the people who inhabit it. It is not some sort of immutable structure that molds people into something else; the reason non-Romans in Rome behave like Romans is because they are heavily outnumbered and they don’t wish to draw Roman attention to themselves. Once they are numerous enough that they feel they can influence, or worse, “improve” the society they have invaded, they will change it from what it was before.

This is neither difficult nor debatable. Pour milk in your coffee and you can see the same process at work. Pour enough milk into it and it ceases to be coffee and starts to become milk.

Much more at link. Including many apt biblical citations and examples.

Vox is right about the MSM graph he posts, mis-titled “The Changing Face of America”. Wrong title. “America becoming Not-America” is the proper caption.

In 400 years, the Israelites were still not Egyptians. And in 400 years, Somalis living in Minnesota will never be Minnesotans, nor Americans. They will be Somalis living in America.

Lead story on tonite’s news was the city tearing down a second Confederate memorial in the dark of the night to appease those folks who see their standing as a sign of Da Man rubbing slavery in their faces. Second story was about a white woman getting her children out of her car at an upscale grocery store in an upscale part of town being attacked by a black male. Some sharpie will report that as racist, I’d say that it’s bidnezz as you-shul in the Big Easy.

Following a rabbit trail from Drudge this morning, I came upon this:

    Donald Trump After Hours

which I found interesting and from which I learned a few things. Despite the (expected) not-so-subtle snark with lines like “the frustration unmistakable for a man who has spent so much of his life grading himself by headlines” and “He brags about” and “He boasts of”. And this: “For a moment, he seems to be proposing a more civil public space in American democracy, one the Trump campaign did little to foster and which the Trump Administration is unlikely to experience.” Really? Did little to foster? The Trump campaign brought people together in a way that hasn’t been seen since Reagan and argued passionately for civility in public space. But as Reagan said about liberals, so much of what they know just isn’t so.

But there was good stuff too, and some very nice photos. I had no idea that the residence portion of the White House contains 20,000 sq. ft. of living space. Yuge! And Mike Pence has a fruit plate for desert when everyone else has pie and ice cream. An enviable level of self control in my mind. Overall, given that it is Time, a fairly balanced piece.

Our Heavenly Father, Your children come to you tonight to ask for healing and peace throughout our country so that we may return to being One Nation Under God. Guide us to be leaders in Your Kingdom, spreading Your Love and Salvation to all. Forgive us our sins and deliver us from evil.

Lord, we ask for a blanket of protection over all our troops and law enforcement who serve to defend and protect us. Bless our representatives with the strength and wisdom they need to achieve the path You have chosen for us.

Please place Your Guardian Angels of Protection around Donald Trump and Mike Pence and their families as they seek to lead America back to You.

Grant us patience, Lord, as the evil ones try to anger us and cause us to fall.
Spread blessings over Israel and Netanyahu. We pray for France, and for the safety of Marine Le Pen.

We humbly ask that You please comfort those who are grieving and in pain.
Thank you Father, for Your Love and the gift of Life.

Ed H.; was known to be protecting Clinton. Comey firing was indeed in the works for some time; timing was intentional so as to bar any further access to files etc by Comey. More is expected to come out shortly. Is large file on H Clinton, no less than six indictments, possibly more (do not hold your breath). Our local offices (4 around me) have been here for decades, lately have been busy taking out child pedos and gangs – we love them dearly.

    Have a Blessed Evening.
