KATIE HOPKINS: Macron may have won by a landslide but in the resigned Paris I visited last night it didn’t feel like many people were celebrating a triumph for the globalists
The choreography of it all was disturbing. I realised I had a bag, three Macron t-shirts and two flags in my hands before I had spoken to a soul and asked why people were here.
From the massive screens, TV anchors panned to the crowds as they gathered, and the crowd dutifully waved their flags with an enthusiasm that lasted as long as the cameras were on them. And failed just as fast.
Even the solitary DJ – wheeled out to animate the masses for the watching audiences at home – struggled to connect. The audience jumped about when he encouraged them to. But stood silent when there was a power-cut and the music failed.
A strange game of political musical statues. Empowered by attention. Otherwise inert.
This was a masterclass in manipulation for the watching world. ‘Screen-bites’ for those with ADD.
Two blocks away from the Louvre, the cars and the people jumping about for the TV cameras, the rest of Paris was calm and still…
And I thought back to my England on June 23. To the lady who told me she danced around her kitchen with her elderly husband, to my friend stood on the roundabout – waving her Leave banner like a maniac, to the hot pubs and pavements up and down the UK where grown men were suddenly made proud to be British and an elderly caller to my show said he cried to get back the country he fought to defend.
People with battered Union flags flung over shoulders, memories of blue passports, proud of their pound, pictures in their wallet of their grandad in his service uniform. Deep connections to a time before…

And the music played at the celebration wasn’t the Marseillaise, but Ode to Joy (which I love), the EU anthem.
Globalism, not nationalism, won by default.

Pffft. Regardless of how hard they try to nail that economic Dr Moreau frankenunion together Europe is a rat’s nest of nationalism and there ain’t enough philosophical duct tape in the universe to keep it afloat. Germany has the muscle to make the EU work and its strength and economic power will at some point cause the members to chaffe.
The EU’s lasted longer than Esperanto did but it’s doomed to suffer the same fate.

My husband would’ve died with Obamacare
It was a few months after my husband left the hospital from his heart attack that we ran into one of the nurses who cared for him — at a presidential campaign event, no less. One chat led to another and the subject of socialized health care was raised. And this is what the nurse said: Had my husband been on Medicare or Medicaid at the time of his heart attack, the doctors would have quit their life-saving efforts long before his 10 comatose days had ended. Why? Because the government health care plan wouldn’t have paid for the around-the-clock intensive care. The situation would’ve quickly evolved into a pull the plug, wait and see what happens type of deal.
As it was, BlueCross-BlueShield, the private insurance company, approved all the doctors’ service requests. And so my husband went on to live another day — another nine years, and counting.
That’s not how Barack Obama and his socialist Obamacare supporters would tell it. According to them, private insurers were — still are — evil money-making grubs, concerned only about the profit statements they can deliver their boards.
The truth?
Had Obamacare been the law of the land in early 2008, my husband probably would’ve died. And even if he didn’t, we probably would’ve had thousands and thousands of more dollars in medical expenses than we did. We do now, for crying out loud: post-Obamacare, the ongoing health needs of my husband cost thousands of dollars more in deductibles and copays than we ever paid in the freer market.
Thanks Obamacare.

And this is what no one will talk about: the fact that O-care would and did genuinely kill people. For all the liberal hysteria over the AHCA, these liberals who are busy being hysterical are cheerfully oblivious to the damage that O-care could and did create.

And, when confronted with the facts that Obamacare costs have gone up hugely, and that there are other problems, they just don’t even engage. They usually don’t even deny it, they just pivot to a complaint about Pres. Trump and the new legislation.

I don’t mind admitting that this brought tears…. I have told friends around here that in this digital age, when you present insurance info to a hospital, that determines your care. That is just an impression I have, and you will never see this in writing.. but I believe it. This lady’s dear husband is alive because he had good insurance, that is the gist of it. I am hoping we have good insurance too…Dh will require lifelong treatments for his CIDP, which we are trying to work out.. But we should be able to work it out, somehow, and it is not thanks to ACA, it is an employer plan for retirees…
BTW that man’s boss sounded like a saint…
TY for this article…

What saves us, I’m convinced, is that our primary hospital complex is the same one Czarina’s contracted with for many years. You have an edge when you are being treated by the folks you work with and fair or not, it helps.

My sister has lived in Canada for 40 years and just LOVES universal health care and thinks Americans are ignorant to not want it. HOWEVER, even though when she had a stroke about 10 years ago she got GREAT care when she went to the ER, there was a test she needed right away. It would have been six weeks before she could have gotten that test if her best friend hadn’t been a scheduler and saw her name on the list and moved her up to that week. Universal health care – when you have to know somebody to get care. 😦

Universal Healthcare….the suffering of the few for the dubious benefit of the many. No one has any more value than anyone else…Ok, politicians, members of the medical Star Chamber, the ‘connected’ but that few isn’t the suffering few, they have a more important place in the system….equal but not equal.

In-law from Canada tells the story of a woman who needed surgery on her leg, but the wait was so long that her husband hurt himself lifting her all the time, requiring he have surgery, too.
They had to have government provided in-home care for a long time until after they finally got their surgeries.
Not exactly an efficient system.

Yet another reason the UN must be destroyed, utterly. Burned to the ground, its ashes scattered to the winds and the ground it stands on salted. The various reps, after they pay back the monies they’ve stolen over the decades, turned over to the people’s they’ve damaged for a true democratic punishment.
Imagine a world run by people like Faumbi, the Third Reich would look like a garden party in comparison.

Have two loaves of banana bread cooking in the oven, and a loaf of country Italian bread in the bread maker. I added diastatic malt to the yeast bread, and will let you know if it helps. This particular bread seems to fall a bit at the end of the baking cycle, no matter what I have tried up until now. It’s still good, but looks odd. According to King Arthur flour:
Diastatic malt powder is the “secret ingredient” savvy bread bakers use to promote a strong rise, great texture, and lovely brown crust. Especially useful when flour does not have barley malt added, as is true for most whole wheat flour and many organic flours.
active enzymes in diastatic malt help yeast grow fully and efficiently throughout the fermentation period, yielding a good, strong rise and great oven-spring. Add only a small amount, ½ to 1 teaspoon per 3 cups of flour.
I didn’t order mine from KA, because they only sell it in a 4 oz jar now. I added 1 tsp to 4-1/2 cups of flour.

Where did you get it?

I ordered it from Amazon. KA does have it, but in the very small jar. Maybe it goes bad? I ordered a 1# bag. Kind of expensive, but I was curious to see how it works. I think it is also used in brewing.

There is also a non-diastatic malt powder. I think they use it to make bagels (for one thing).

“Diastatic” is a new word for me. It means “containing diastase”. Diastase is the first enzyme ever discovered. The “-ase” suffix for all enzyme names derives from diastase.

BTW, heating diastatic malt destroys the diastase, making it non-diastatic malt.

Fortunately, it is active while the bread is rising. You can create your own diastatic malt by sprouting the grain.

I enjoyed Malt-O-Meal breakfast cereal as a kid, so a while back I added a tablespoon of malt powder to my oatmeal.
I was amazed to see my sticky, pasty oatmeal turn nearly liquid as I stirred in the malt. I’m guessing the sticky starches immediately turned into sugar, which was more soluble than the starches.

Yippee! I ordered a pound of lavender flowers to make sachets. Didn’t realize what a bargain I was getting until they arrived. I knew there would be a lot by volume but was still surprised when I opened the box today (wondering why such a big box) and pull out a bag that is roughly the size of 3/4 of a gallon or a bit bigger! For only $15.00! Got them early for Christmas gift-making, as lavender keeps its potency – I’ve had some for years and they’re just as lovely smelling. I’ll have enough sachets to let all my friends and family get thoroughly sick of lavender, lol!

lilbirdee12’s prayer:
Our Heavenly Father, Your children come to you tonight to ask for healing and peace throughout our country so that we may return to being One Nation Under God. Guide us to be leaders in Your Kingdom, spreading Your Love and Salvation to all. Forgive us our sins and deliver us from evil.
Lord, we ask for a blanket of protection over all our troops and law enforcement who serve to defend and protect us. Bless our representatives with the strength and wisdom they need to achieve the path You have chosen for us.
Please place Your Guardian Angels of Protection around Donald Trump and Mike Pence and their families as they seek to lead America back to You.
Grant us patience, Lord, as the evil ones try to anger us and cause us to fall.
Spread blessings over Israel and Netanyahu. We pray for France, and for the safety of Marine Le Pen.
We humbly ask that You please comfort those who are grieving and in pain.
Thank you Father, for Your Love and the gift of Life.
