      OK, so if I see an ad on Craigslist looking for someone skilled in making BLTs and pulled-pork poboys and it says ‘call and ask for Abdul at 555-1212, I should be suspicious? How about the ones in the ‘man looking for goats’ section?

      They also want jihadists to create havoc by simply killing as many people as possible. If there was ever a time to dispense with “gun control” and concealed carry everywhere, this is it.

      And apparently they don’t know how buying guns actually works, because the last I heard from the NRA, there’s no such thing as a “gun show loophole” that speeds the process of background checks and everything so you can buy a gun, and legitimate gun retailers online won’t speed the process any either. The NRA itself, when it raffles off guns, makes it clear that if you win, they will be shipping your weapon to a local firearms dealer who will run the background check and everything else needed to comply with state and local laws.

      I’d say “they’re crazy!” but that …doesn’t make me feel any better.

        If you lie well enough in pursuit of your agenda the unknowing will just take your word for it rather than research the issue itself. Add a touch of fear and you can cement the process.
        There are some ‘loopholes’ but they involve hand-to-hand sales by individuals who carry in guns looking to sell them, and that’s something the state deals with, the Feds would like to regulate that too but that would require new laws. I was reviewing sales at gun shows when I was attached to ATF in 2002, looking thru sales records for straw purchases so the big ‘loophole’ lie is still being used, they’ve had background checks at the shows for a long time. You can also be sure that at any gun show you’re going to have at least one ATF agent on the clock, so the possibilities of some anti-government redneck wandering in and buying a nuke off some table is just some prog engineer’s fantasy. But, since when do facts matter?

          The “gun show loop hole” is/are the unregistered sales of firearms in the parking lots. Example: Hey Czar, I see your carrying a 1903 Springfield 30.06 into the show. How much do you want? Czar, $1995, okay I have $2500 in cash, will that do.
          Or , Hey Czar that’s a M14 all spiffy up with neat stuff! How much do you want? Czar; I’m asking $4000. Wow I have $5500 in cash, how about we deal………
          That the gun show loop hole, parking lot sales……before 2004 in my state sales between two adults, of “long rifles”did not require ATF firearm transfer paper work done by a licensed dealer.

            Parking lot, floor of the gun show…any individuals not renting space from the organizer who sell unbound by Federal regs. Same as hand-to-hand sales in unregulated states where you just put an ad in the papers…same as the Feds having individuals making illegal full-automatic weapons for illegal sale across national boundaries…oh wait, that’s legal.

    I have mentioned that Dh’s SIL is a corrections officer in Suffolk County NY. You may have heard about some terrible murders by MS13 in this area. That made national news… Last night Dh was chatting with P and P told him that crime is way down in the county, MS13 members are staying low because they fear getting deported. Just between us,,, a little bit of winning… 🙂

    On this day in 1945, six Americans are killed by a Japanese bomb—in Oregon!?! The Japanese had been trying to attack Americans on our home soil for months. They’d finally succeeded. Unfortunately, five children and a pregnant woman turned out to be the victims of the Japanese attack.

    Reverend Archie Mitchell and his wife Elsie were supposed to be on a fun expedition that day. They’d offered to take five children from their church on a fishing trip and picnic. They were headed for some streams in the lower slopes of a nearby mountain. Melting snow and slushy roads kept them from going too far, but they found a spot to pull over. The children ran toward a nearby creek, with Elsie close behind. Archie stayed behind to move and unload the car.

    If only they’d made it just a tiny bit further. Perhaps the next few moments would have played out differently…

      Ain’t nuttin’ I ain’t posted before except for Mitch’s girlfriend (who in NOLA poltix be pure, steal da foist vote) or parking lots (who in NOLA politx don’ be havin’ a side scam, you x-cused to go out and get one), the lots being so well known in local politics it’s eminently forgettable. I mean our sheriff who was in charge of the security and services for the civil courts was a civil lawyer and partner in a firm that specialized in civil cases. Duh.
      Folks generally don’t talk about white Rat pols’ racial backgrounds, there’s an old story about a certain ward in the city populated by black residents trying to intermarry but with the influx of newbies the old demographics are starting to fade into history though you can still fing older black women who’ll complain bitterly about the young menses ‘jungle fever’. It’s less about the pol’s racial purity than it is trying to find an honest one.
      I have mentioned a number of times about jow Mitch is so uncomfortable looking when placed in with black window dressing when he’s out doing ‘howdy howdy’ photo ops. I’ve been told a few times that it’s due to his fellow Rats knowing his black background the he so studiously avoids mentioning. Guess they turn the heat up on him to get their agendas put forward and he obliges…political hypocrisy atbits best.

      In normal circumstances that would not bother me that it took them so long, but 4chan used airliners to pinpoint the location of a flag in the middle of nowhere within like 24 hours after it was aloft. Maybe we need to hire 4chan to track down pedophiles …though for all I know 4chan is already doing that and being ignored.

      I’m concerned that certain groups of people on the Internet might be faster and better at things like this then some law enforcement groups.

      Problem with many Fed agencies is they are headed, at the inbred bureaucratic level, by folks who have no idea what technology is. If they let the worker bees who have a grasp of the job do thrir work to the best of their abilities things may well go well. But if you have upper staff like I did they can’t trust what they don’t know. They didn’t get there through their startling brilliance and even those who do hsve a grasp of the hands-on work generally get sucked into the supervisory game and their skills rust.
      I had a helluva time justifying new equipment to upper managment whose skills were years behind and didn’t trust people dealing with things the supervisors were ignorant of.
      I remember, when I was in the Army, trying to explain to my professional bureaucrat civilian boss why we needed a power smoothing and surge suppression system in our mobile command post. He couldn’t see why we couldn’t just plug those newfangled computer thingies into the generator-fed power strips in the CP just like he did his space heater and coffee pot.
      Right now an IT whiz friend is marking time doing civil service fluff stuff in DC as his bosses don’t know how to use him. He works for a well known branch of the government, he retired from the military as a senior intel officer who worked automated intel things from the earliest days. He’ll retire soon, and will becrlsced by someone the bosses can agree know as little as they do, and if he plsys golf that’s an extra.
