Thing I like about Heinz is their development of different tomato types. I was getting their bare-root live plants shipped to me in the early 70s. Determinant plants that threw perfectly round, same-sized tomatoes with smooth and thick skins that peeled easily. Good flavor and sized for canning, loved ’em. They were selectively crossbred, no frankenengineering and are still available.

I read where someone said(can’t remember who) that when he makes a boo boo, you should loudly roll up a newspaper with a threatening look on your face, and proceed to whack yourself soundly in the head while saying out loud, ” Bad Mommy! You must watch baby closer”!

One of those articles designed to show how neanderthal we and our parents were. Just wait, 60 years from now some wuss pundit will be whining and carrying on about how stupid this generstion is as they constantly held cell phones to their heads, exposing their brains to ionizing radiation.
BTW, the ‘radioactive’ ore in the Gilbert kit was just raw ore, danger was probably in your less education-oriented brother sticking it into his Air Blaster and launching you.
Gimme a break, I can take any kid’s toy for sale and make it dangerous, that’s why their kids. Lawn darts, yeah lawn darts, they were my favorite.

Having a puppy in house training phase brings subjects like this to the fore:
All mammals poop in 12 seconds and there’s an equation for the ‘duration of diarrheal defecation’
http://www.popsci.com/everyone-poops
An elephant’s rectum is about 10 times longer than a cat’s, yet they poop in the same amount of time. This conundrum may not have stumped you—or even occurred to you—but it vexed researchers at Georgia Tech. “How do animals defecate at a constant duration?,” they quite literally asked in their paper—which by the way was published in the journal Soft Matter. “To answer this question, we begin with measurements of feces.”
So let’s begin…

I poop in about 12 minutes. Last time I checked, I was a mammal.
Ah, Popular Science. How far the mighty have fallen! Rectum? Dang near killed ‘um!
What’s that magazine? 25 pages now? And half ads and SJWism?
America. Where people get paid way more than me to measure the weight and duration of wildlife defecation.
The journal is called Soft Matter. That’s a pretty crappy name for a magazine.

I look st it this way: if these Fecal Measurement Technicians weren’t employed as such they may well be working at a local BK or Mickey D’s…at least in this job it doesn’t matter if they wash their hands.

Read the article out loud in Rod Serling’s voice.

See, you may not realize this, but the diameter of your poop matches the diameter of your rectum, which implies that feces aren’t squeezed out like toothpaste from a tube but rather slide out “similar to a sled sliding down a chute.”
Hence the popular term, poop chute.
PopSci has become Cracked Magazine. And I love it.
Someday soon, National Geographic will get over itself, and develop a sense of self-deprecating humor. Maybe develop a “Collect them All” Android or IOS game, where they invent a new dinosaur ever couple of months. Proceeds to go to all the archaeologists, crypto-zoologists, and colored pencil manufacturers.

uh….how do you explain round rabbit poop then…..
LikeLiked by 2 people
Early on in the article the author states very clearly that this study is restricted to Steady State Pooping.
To wit:
As with every good scientific endeavor, they started by defining their variables. Defecation begins, for example, at t=0, which they say is “when the tip of feces appears.” They provided four separate videos just in case you weren’t sure exactly when that is. And to avoid confusion between “steady state” pooping, which is what humans do, and animals like rabbits that produce little pellets they restricted their study to cylindrical feces. Repeat: you will not learn anything about the pelleted feces of a rabbit in this article..

[…or a deer, or a bear…]
A bear and a rabbit are pooping near each other. When they finish, both of them in exactly 12 seconds, the bear asks the rabbit, “Say, do you have problems with poop sticking to your fur?”
The rabbit says, “No! None at all!” So the bear picks up the rabbit and wipes with it.

What a beautiful day! Sunshine, rain, whatever, what a beautiful day. I just finished reading the feel good article of the week 🙂.
The Moment Hillary Clinton was Forced to Give Up Her Dream
http://nypost.com/2017/04/30/the-moment-hillary-clinton-was-forced-to-give-up-her-dream/
Below are excerpts from the article, I’ve added nothing just cut it down to the bare facts without the superfluous nonsense and lies about the wounded heroine.
Every detail was designed to mark Hillary Clinton’s moment in history — from the glass ceiling at Manhattan’s Javits Center, where her supporters were gathered, to her and hubby Bill’s suite at The Peninsula hotel, selected so she could personally see Trump Tower, home to the foe she was set to crush.
Hillary sat stone-faced, trying to process the unexpected and abrupt reversal of her fortunes. “OK,” she said over and over as she nodded. It was all she could muster.
Hillary was still surprisingly calm, unable or unwilling to delve into the details of how her dream was turning into a nightmare.
The president wants you to concede, Mook told her, adding his own analysis: “I don’t see how you win this.”
“I understand,” she said. But she used her place in history as a shield in the same way Mook just had with Simas. “I’m not ready to go give this speech.”
Obama wanted her to make it abundantly clear to the public that she wasn’t going to fight the result.
‘You need to concede,” President Obama told his former secretary of state.
“Congratulations, Donald,” she said, suppressing the anger that touched every nerve in her body. “I’ll be supportive of the country’s success, and that means your success as president.”
Now, as Trump made his way to the podium at the Hilton, Bill chomped on the back end of a cigar.
Hillary winced.
Obama’s legacy and her dreams of the presidency lay shattered at Donald Trump’s feet.

I, for some reason, have never seen Coppola’s Apocalypse Now. I watched the first two hours last night, until Mr. Clean got killed after Chef’s stupidity with the smoke grenade, and I had to pause it when Chief was weeping. I was too. So I paused it and went to bed.
1979. This film could have been made yesterday. It’s that good, every frame.
I’ll either finish it after work tonight, or start it over from the beginning.
The Godfather was made in ’72, when I was one year old. It also stands the test of time.
I couldn’t follow it until I read Puzo’s books, and told the DVD player to display subtitles, and also had the luck to have a buddy, a big fan of the series, telling me to hit pause if I ever had a question. I did. Many times.
Regarding Coppola, he is a visual master whose studios dispense lots of dollars, he is being surpassed by Chinese companies. Watch the Once Upon a Time in China trilogy. I don’t watch movies any more, unless they are old. Those aren’t. They are China’s equivalent of Coppola, and his mastery of both the camera, and the story. Just compare the mise en scene in both trilogies. Like Ghibli’s animations, every single pause is full of detail.

I saw Apocalypse with my oldest son in ’79. I remember him asking me if that’s what Vietnam was really like and my telling him no, our sous chefs were all Korean.

Well, Antifa morons are now rampaging in Portland, Oregon. Throwing rocks and setting stuff on fire. The police have canceled their protest permit and are getting serious.

lilbirdee12’s prayer:
Our Heavenly Father, Your children come to you tonight to ask for healing and peace throughout our country so that we may return to being One Nation Under God. Guide us to be leaders in Your Kingdom, spreading Your Love and Salvation to all. Forgive us our sins and deliver us from evil.
Lord, we ask for a blanket of protection over all our troops and law enforcement who serve to defend and protect us. Bless our representatives with the strength and wisdom they need to achieve the path You have chosen for us.
Please place Your Guardian Angels of Protection around Donald Trump and Mike Pence and their families as they seek to lead America back to You.
Grant us patience, Lord, as the evil ones try to anger us and cause us to fall.
Spread blessings over Israel and Netanyahu. We pray for France, and for the safety of Marine Le Pen.
We humbly ask that You please comfort those who are grieving and in pain.
Thank you Father, for Your Love and the gift of Life.
In Jesus name, we pray. Amen

If every other cop has to carry a small fire extinguisher, make it happen… at least it is dual-purpose, and can be used offensively.

I think we are far beyond fire extinguishers.

BGI, their hangers-on and usual social engineers want to remove the statue of Andrew Jackson from Jackson Square and rename it…sems Jackson had slaves. Removal of the statue would leave a huge hole in the ground and some have suggested it be replaced with an appropriate memorial. I might suggest a memorial to the descendent’s educational accomplishments so far, should save money by just leaving the huge hole in place.

They should replace it with a statue of Anthony Johnson, Colonist, and was a black plantation owner, with black slaves. Got rich off them brothas.
Would that be a suitable replacement?

We have any number of Louisiana, not to mention local, black slave owners. Then agsin, their owning slaves was obviously due to their being traumatized by the actions of European slave owners. Maybe we can just fill that huge hole with excuses.

Yeah, that’s something. The black Africans in Africa sold their kinsmen, or neighbors, or whatever, to the ME muslims for slaves, who sold them to slave traders, who brought SOME of them to what has become the U.S. of A. They were then bought by some plantation ownders, or others, some of whom were black. This is being willfully ignored.

When redressing perceived ills ya goez after the deeeeep pockets. Considering the parts the various Mideast folks had in the slave trade you’d think they be litigation targets too except the Mideasterers would tell ’em to go pound sand.

Isn’t that why our shipbuilders built the Constitution and her sisters?
That mindset needs to return, real quick.

Early Americans were just consumers of the product that was offered. We didn’t open that Slave-Mart. Arabs did. Slave-Mart, which we shopped at, was supplied, like Wal-Mart today is supplied by Far-Eastern slaves, by Africans selling each other because of tribe and power and relative wealth.
Analogize!

And, the blacks who call themselves “African-Americans” are still at it today.

There’s a giant bronze bull statue in front of the NYSE.
The artist made it, then plopped it down in the dead of night, guerilla-style, after a crash in the market.
Sabo must have been influenced slightly by whoever made the bull and put it there, but Sabo is making sand castles. That bull is still there.
