In my teens, I was into Christian rock. Petra was my favorite. I had three of theirs on vinyl. The artwork on the covers was superb. Never Say Die, More Power To Ya, Not of this World I had that one there on cassette. Very biblical band, too. Controversial when they first emerged, too. The song Killing my Old Man, very biblical double entendre, especially.
Another band had a great Easter song, too. Bloodgood.

I like instruments being played with skill. They did this live, coupled with the song Crucify. A Heavy Metal Passion Play. Wish I had seen this live.

My focus this week is on the “wiretapping” (electronic interception of communications, if you insist) of President Trump and his associates during the campaign. It seems to me this story is rapidly unfolding — if only mostly in overseas press and online — and promises to be far more explosive than the Watergate story, an account that says frightening things about our intelligence agencies and those of some of our allies, most particularly Great Britain. It has become increasingly clear to me that there was widespread wiretapping of President Trump and his associates and that the underlying justification was pretextual — it was actually intended to spy on a political opponent.

Here we have it, proof coming out that is taken and respun (if it’s reported at all by the MSM) to meet the progs’ ends. Without an honest press we’re sorta screwed as far as getting the truth told; the truth is whstever they say it is, while ‘fake news’ is whatever they want it to be.
I clearly remember posting back at the 2007 election run ups that the Republicans do not stay up with the times, they have become too comfortable in the 1980s ‘pens and paper’ propaganda and let the e-propaganda and social media high ground be occupied by the progs, now we’re suffering. Obama and his backers stuffed the government, and especially the DoJ and intel community, with their folks and it’ll be years before they’re al rooted out and nontelling how much damage they’ll do in the meantime. They lost the 2016 battle but their little guerrillas are still up in the brush.

We heard this last night at the Easter Vigil, and it was sublime. We gathered outside where the Easter fire was lit, and from that the Paschal candle, and we processed in, with our 80 RCIA candidates following the priests and deacons, into a dark church, lit only by the one candle. The deacon proclaimed “The light of Christ!” as they made their way to the altar, and the altar servers spread through the church, lighting our candles, as Christ’s light spreads though his people, the Church. Lights came back softly, gradually, until after all the many readings and Psalms, the Gospel, and then the full light shone, the organ resounded throughout the Church.
Our priest sang this at the beginning of mass. If you’ve never heard it before, it’s so worth your time.
It took three and a half hours to complete the mass, with all the new members being baptized, from infants to the elderly, then those who had already been baptized making professions of faith, then confirmation, First Holy Communion, and then the rest of us received. An awesome, exhausting night. Worth every moment of the privilege to be a part of the joy of the resurrection and sharing it with our newest members.

Wow!! You had 80 catacumens? That’s incredible! Our parish had no one in RCIA this year, and last night only one person baptized, an 8-year-old boy. The Mass took 2 hours. I love the procession in from the fire and the lighting of everyone’s small candle from the paschal candle and the church in darkness filling up with all those tiny points of light. So beautiful!

I finally feel half human today, too much time taking care of sick people and visiting hospital patients caught up to me and I got sick. I was able to go to the races last night and then my SIL about caused my heart to give out when he rolled his car. Thankfully he crawled out with no injuries and the car can be fixed.

Thanks lovely. I’m new to all this racing stuff, he grew up doing it, so what freaks me out, he says is no big deal.
I’m just glad I felt well enough to go because he was racing 2 cars last night.
My DH wanted me to stay home, but I made it and outside of a few dizzy spells and being weak I was fine. lol

He says it’s a good thing I didn’t watch him race sprint cars, but that the only thing that bothers him is fearing it will catch on fire while you’re unhooking the seat belt watching gas and oil pour out and hoping it doesn’t land on the headers and that gravity makes it hard to get out when you’re upside down.
I’ve watched plenty of others roll over and always hold my breath until they climb out, but it’s different watching someone you love do it. I wasn’t holding my breath, I was having to stop myself from running onto the track. lol
He’s either crazier than me or has way more courage than me as he went and got in his other car in a different division and went on out and raced it 10 minutes later.
It scared the little man though or so he told us today, last night he didn’t say much, but today he told us his daddy crashed and his car went over and crashed again and he was scared and daddy can crash, but daddy can’t crash on top again because he will crack his head.
I’m glad though my SIL is one of those that takes safety important and spends the extra on the best seat belts and hahns device and always makes sure they’re tight and gets the highest fire rating suits and shoes. A lot of these other guys will be sore after wrecks, but he never is and I think it’s because of his safety equipment and using it correctly. Some of them complain about the belts being too tight and wear them loose and money is no object on how much they spend on their car but will spend the least amount possible on safety equipment or will use the same equipment for years.

Sorry, didn’t see this post yesterday. I can’t imagine what you go through, my heart would be racing. It’s good he takes safety very seriously. I hope little man won’t worry too much. Kids are pretty resilient, so he’ll get over it.

It hasn’t stopped him from wanting to go racing though.
Sorry I just now got back on, whatever this stuff I have his is refusing to go away. Doctor says virus, but every time I think I’m getting over it, I’m either vomiting or having stomach cramps again.
I haven’t been able to really eat in over a week because when I try to eat anything other than potato soup or crackers I’m sick again.
I’m starting to think it’s not a normal stomach virus.

I believe some types of food poisoning, salmonella, can cause that. I worked for a number of years when my kids were young at their elementary school. We had a virus go through that just would not go away. I had it really bad multiple times over a few week period. It was rotavirus. It got out of hand because the school ran out of soap and the kids weren’t getting their hands clean. (Gross… I know) I’m so sorry you’ve been so sick. Maybe pedialyte and Gatorade for a few days would give your body a break, but still provide electrolytes your body needs.

Salmonella is the same thing that causes typhoid fever. I have had two friends hospitalized for salmonella. One ate chicken that was insufficiently cooked or mishandled, and the other ate scrambled eggs on a buffet that weren’t kept to the proper temp. That second case sent a bunch of people to the hospital.

I don’t know what it is, the vomiting is minor to the major cramping in the top of my stomach.
I don’t really think it’s the same stomach virus others around me have had, there’s didn’t last this long and they didn’t have the cramping.
If I’m not over it by next week I’m finding a different doctor. I’ve lost 8 pounds and stay so weak it’s hard to function.

It sounds like you need to have some upper GI tests and blood work done. I hope you get answers very soon. I think I’d be demanding my Dr do something asap. Sending you hugs and prayers for healing. 🙏🏻

I think I’m finally about over it. I still don’t have much of an appetite and some days still have severe stomach cramps after eating, but slowly getting back my strength.
I guess it is some kind of wicked virus because my husband caught it and has now been battling it a week. Husbands don’t make good patients. 🙂
My daughter was having to take care of both us a few days and I’m sure she’d tell you neither of us make good patients. lol
Now that I feel halfway normal again I’m on to our spring projects during the hours I have strength to sand. Our porch needs repainted so we’ve been trying to do that but it’s slow going when you don’t have a lot of energy. We had also been planning on putting in new floors downstairs and painting downstairs, so we’re slowly working on that. Although we’ve decided to splurge and pay to have the floors done, I just don’t think we’re up for it.
I’ll be glad when it’s all done and this stuff is totally gone and life can go back to normal. lol

I’m glad you’re improving, but sorry your husband’s had the same thing. Scary stuff y’all have had! It does sound like you both need to take it easy and get your strength back. I’ve had a nasty sinus infection that’s knocked me out for a few days and I’ve not been much fun for my family to be around. Take care of you!!!! 😊

The doctor said it’s a really bad virus that is putting a lot of people in the hospital. I guess it does a number on your stomach and can take months for the irritation it causes to settle down.
We’re both drinking some kind of compound stuff that the pharmacy is mixing up to coat our stomach that is supposed to help and I guess it does because before I started taking it I couldn’t eat anything and even liquids were coming right back up.
The virus has a name but I can’t pronounce much less spell it.

My DD had gastroenteritis that lasted a long time. Lots of stomach cramping with it. Not long after that she landed in the hospital with what turned out to be severe gall bladder attacks and had to have it removed. She was in there for days before they figured out it was no longer the virus and instead her gallbladder. Her symptoms were exactly the same. 😳😳😳

TOO MUCH BACON……(no one ever said)
Happy Easter to all….looked out in back yard about 9:30 AM and there was our resident bunny
munching and hopping around….about two hours later than usual…figure he was tired from hiding eggs all over the neighborhood….none at our house…all our “little bitties” are grown up and want scrambled with sausage and no colors please…just some bagel or english muffins….and lots of coffee.
I sorta miss dying eggs…but not totally…..

Notice how the comics in your local newspaper have to hide and/or otherwise disguise Chridtian themes, especially on major Chridtian holidays, if they are to be allowed in the paper? I can remember years ago, well before the currentish ‘anti-Christian’ campaign, how Johnny Hart who drew ‘B.C.’ used to get heat for his Christian themes. The new author’s continued the veiled Christian theme, to his credit, as the only way to guarantee his ‘freedom of speech’.

When I lived in Boston, I bought the Herald. Every single Easter I lived there, when I bought the paper, someone had literally cut out the B.C. comic and the Wizard of Id comic from the paper, with a razor. Every single paper, every time.

This was the first day since working at the new restaurant that it kicked my butt. At the end, we all smiled. “We did it, boys. We always do.”
Sunday AM is brunch, PM is dinner. Two different kitchens and mise en place, two different dining rooms, essentially. Usually we have from 2-4 to change it all over. Bossman took, without telling chef until THIS MORNING, an 18-top reservation, for the dinner menu, for 3:00 PM.
30 minutes to change from one restaurant into another. Thanks, Boss!
But we did it. Chef is 58. Hardest worker I’ve ever had the pleasure of working with.
At the end of the day, when we’ve broken down the line, wrapped everything up, and polished all the stainless, a couple of tourists, just passing through, come in. It’s Easter. Sacrifice, right?
We’re pretty much the only place for good food open in town, even thought they came in one minute past close, for dinner. Me and one other worker are busting our butts to close up and make it all new again, because we wanna go home, but Chef hears them mention Taco Bell, and a local bar. He says, being the awesome dude he is, “I can make you dinner, folks. I can make you our prime rib sandwich, with either broccoli or Brussels sprouts.”
We made their day. They tipped Chef, then later, when I went to punch out on the P.O.S. system, I thanked them. They thanked us for sticking around, I said “Brother, it’s what we do. We love our work.” Then they tipped me and my friend, the peons in the kitchen. I’m guessing they’ve worked in restaurants before.
I don’t think I’ve had a more blessed Easter.
