    “It’s a concussive blast. Everyone in the area is obliterated, ears are bleeding, or they’re completely destroyed,” an official told the UK’s Telegraph.

    The US estimates that 600 to 800 ISIS terrorists were on the ground in Afghanistan, mostly in Nangarhar, conducting strikes on government and US forces while battling the rival Taliban.

    Has Obama been seen over the last few hours 🤔 ?

      Reminds me of when we came back from a patrol in VN..maybe we only shot one old pig for a bbq but the report said we engaged and shot ‘X’ VC and/or NVA. Sure there msy have been 600 to 800 Muj on tne ground in Afghanistan but where? The subtile implication here is that a number of them were where the very expensive floorshow occurred while, in reality, you can’t argue without testing the various red smears to tell if their people or goats.

          And someone will say that we’ll bever be able to count the numbers buried in the tunnels or those who were above the ground who were vaporized. It just reeks of ‘the same old stuff’.

            The military general on the ground made the decision to drop the MOAB (I don’t know all the ins and outs of that but I’m sure that you do) but I imagine that President Trump was not happy with 20 16 million dollar bombs sitting on a shelf for over a decade.

            The military has surveillance from predator drones of the area before the strike so likely 36 is a somewhat accurate number.

            It seems that other than the sweetness of killing 36 savages the purpose of this bomb is psychological. President Trump is giving his boots on the ground some autonomy and not micromanaging strikes like his predecessors did so swimmingly poorly.

            A little less than 2 million dollars a head. Not bad given the cost of terrorism.

            Much to my delight I believe the MSM is being used as a tool by President Trump. How many times have we heard and read “The first time this bomb was ever used in combat!!!! The largest non-nuclear bomb in the universe!!!!!”

            President Trump has said again and again, ”I want to be unpredictable, we will kill ISIS, we will bomb Islamic Terrorists off the face of the earth.”

            Now if me and my goat are holed up in a tunnel I have to start thinking about if the MOAB was a warning of what is to come, what could be worse than the warning?

              What I’m saying is to be suspicious when military commanders start playing the numbers game. There may well have been group of people in the area but without confirmation we have to take the word of those who may have other interests in the body count. Would like to see some hi-res footage of the pre-boom folks.
              The MOAB is the largest yield non-nuclear bomb in the US arsenal but the Russians have one that is roughly four times as powerful as the MOAB and I wonder, as we’ve used the MOAB in Afghanistan, if they’ll feel free to use it in Syria?
              Bottom line is, regardless of what kibd of fancy stuff you throw around, only troops can root out bad guys and occupy territory. The fancy-schmancy stuff can help but nothing replaces ‘boots on ground’.

                  Body counts are done by folks who generally have a minimal involvement creating them. Troops go out and risk their lives and the upper echelons massage the results to their own ends.

            Czar, or anyone with knowledge about this. Why are so many right wingers saying that Assad is a friend to Christians? I know that Al Qaida in Syria is anti Assad but Assad and Al Qaida seem to be flip sides of the same evil coin. What happens if Assad is deposed? The void is filled by more evil?

            The quagmire of the Middle East is nothing new but I don’t know what we can accomplish there other than kill as many of our enemies as possible.

              Assad is a politician and, as an Alawite minority Moslem, I’m betting he needed the Christians as much as they needed him for mutual support. He’s likewise a politician, to me, before he’s a Moslem and would turn on the Christians in a flash if it were expedient. Some 74% of the Syrian population is Sunni, about 12% is Alawite and 10% Christian. Alawites are as persecuted as Christians so why shouldn’t they join to try andbprotect themselves agsinst a common enemy?
              If Assad’s canned you can bet that Russia has someone in the wings…I think of Diem in VN in ’63. Russia is not going to give up its petro empire and military basing in Syria so…well, Diem in ’63.

    Have any of my friends here had diverticulitis? I’m having a bad attack, and as if that isn’t enough, the medicine makes me sick! This is the second time I’ve had an attack, and I’ve searched a lot over the internet, but there is so much contradiction, I’m just befuzzled.

      My mother-in-law had it pretty bad, but I don’t really know, except for eating a special diet, what she did for it. I know she couldn’t have nuts and seeds at all. I’m so sorry to hear you are feeling unwell.

      Dh’s son suffered from this. Wish I could help, but one thing I feel compelled to mention was that he did not take care of it well enough and ended up loosing part of his large intestine. Serious surgery. He had a very poor diet, his own choosing and it really caught up with him. Not saying you do, but just please be very careful.

      I am not sure what to tell you. I had one large diverticuli, not a lot of little ones. I asked my doc if I had to quit eating nuts and popcorn. He said no. I tried to stay on the diet they recommended, mostly liquid, nothing solid for a long time, and I was in a lot of pain. Finally, a health nut friend of mine told me to eat something, anything, or I wouldn’t get well. So, I did, and I got better fast. I have had friends who were told to stay away from popcorn, nuts, and stringy vegetables. I disagree. I believe you need all the bulk and fiber you can get once the inflammation is gone.

      I am curious what kind of medicine they gave you. I had to take an antibiotic once to get rid of the inflammation, which I am convinced was brought on by them insisting I take an nsaid for something else before all this happened.

    They have me on Cipro (think Anthrax) and Flagyl. Dr. said I have to have both together for 10 days. On liquids, but he said when the pain gets better eat yogurt. I make my own homemade organic yogurt, so no problem. I’ve never been a very picky eater,when growing up my mom had to feed 9 of us! But I do eat pretty well, and mostly homemade. Rarely eat out at fast food places. I think where I’ve gone wrong is a lot of really spicy food! Us reheads are kinda sensitive, ya know. I reckon DH will have to enjoy his curries on his own from now. 😦

      Did he say you can have oatmeal? That would coat nicely. And, at this point, I would be on capsules of probiotics taken about an hour after the antibiotic. My pain didn’t go away until I started eating.Think about how your colon works. It squeezes the food to move it down. If there is little to nothing in it, it squeezes really hard. Whatever you do, just become very aware of everything you eat and how it affects you.

    Don’t drink much soda, but I do like sparkly water. I’m not much of a sweet eater, just the occasional dark chocolate. I do love bacon, and it’s not so good for you (nitrites), I really don’t eat a lot of processed stuff. I reckon there’s something behind it, but I guess I’ll have to test drive my tummy for a while to see what she will tolerate, lol. I’ve already given up strawberries, nuts, popcorn and tomatoes. Is life worth living without tomatoes?

    Lord, we ask for a blanket of protection over all our troops and law enforcement who serve to defend and protect us. Bless our representatives with the strength and wisdom they need to achieve the path You have chosen for us.
