Indeed. That’s a lotta different biomes and geographical variety in one pic.
And, to boot, there’s a giant ghost cat walking in the background, from behind that big square tree in the bottom half.

That was front wheel drive. This is half-all-wheel drive, and on the right.
Astounding.
When I watch my Tripod get around, I’m amazed, but this is something I never even conceived of, in all these years. Are there one-legs named Pogo?

Thanks for deleting the double video, Stella.
The one I referenced here was of a two-leg with only right-legs, getting around just fine.
I just can’t believe I never, in nine years with Tripod, thought to look for videos of cats with less than four legs. And there are so many cute ones!
How did I never think of that, when I know that 75% of the internet is cats?

Color has been since “Lucy” jump down from that tree and stood upright. Was it the Mesopotamia Empire developed the daily use of colors? Mesopotamia’s meaning eludes to a series of empires (between two rivers), then on the other side of the mountain was Gildamesh developing the written language in order to tell his stories of great conquests. Okay, now back to work…….

I finally got a picture of the black swans, I took it from the car because it’s private property and I’m not about to go traipsing about on land that I don’t own or I’ve not been invited so it’s not the best picture.

I wish I could get a better picture of the black swans and know the story behind them. Next time maybe I’ll get out of the car but it is a country road and no really good place to park. They never stay the whole summer and they are always on a persons private pond. I’ve never seen cygnets with them.
I can’t wait to see the baby swans this year on our lake 🙂 !

Very pretty flowers! My husband does photography as a side job, mostly for family, friends, and co-workers. It is a hobby for me. I’ve done a bit of photography for friends, a wedding, senior pictures, and party stuff where I sent copies out to every one. I think it is a natural gift (well that is what my high school yearbook teacher told me). He asked me if I think about framing my subjects I said no, he said then you’re a natural. For me it is therapeutic and fun 😊.

Thry gotta be cute, otherwise we probably wouldn’t put up with the stuff they do when they’re older. So far the border collie’s managed to teach the lab mix to move a chair to get up to the counter and is working on teaching him how to open the 3-year-old proof baby gate in order to get into the bedroom and up on the bed.

Daisy’s figured out that if she takes the gate rung closest to the bottom in her teeth and gently pulls she can warp the locking mechanism and pop the gate. No major pulling, no fuss or bother, just a matter-of-fact action on her part. Good thing our cars have manual transmissions…

We had a dog that my dad brought back from a farmers market (along with 3 of the pups siblings) a lady told my dad that she was just going to let them go since no one bought them from her so my dad brought them all home. The lady said they were half German Shepard and half wolf. We never had any idea if that was true or not.
Anyhow we kept one puppy. He was beautiful and full of spunk. He loved to eat my mom’s plants so she put a gate between the front room (where all the plants that he could reach were located) and the kitchen and we left him in the kitchen when we all went out. Soon he was climbing or jumping the gate.
I think I may have mentioned my mom really likes plants. After the dog tore her 6 foot tree out of its planter and smeared pounds of dirt in the shag carpeting she had my dad make a hinged wooden half door so that the dog couldn’t jump it or climb it as it was smooth.
He ate through it.
Good time! 😊

How serendipitous a comment, Lovely!
Used to be somewhat into this band in the early 90s, haven’t been reminded of them in 10 years or more. Les Claypool’s bass playing is technically phenomenal, up there with Geddy Lee, Victor Wooten, Stanley Clarke, Bootsy Collins, and Flea.
With Primus, the bass is lead, unlike the traditional 4-piece band. It’s an odd band, with odd lyrics. And Claypool plays an odd bass guitar. It’s got partially- and fully-missing/filed off frets. And his style was conglomerated from everyone from Jaco Pastorius to the penultimate technical bassists I mentioned above — you hate his voice? His vocal chords are not his voice. His bass is. His technical composition is. His lyrics is. I think he sings that way to scare off the idiots.
I’m sure there’s better bass players now. It’s been ten years since I was into that. Been more into blues (Bonamassa has absorbed and surpassed them all, at this point — at least the previous top 50 — and so has John Mayer…), jazz, classical piano, alt-rockpop, and even Norwegian pop, all which I’ve posted here.
The best keep getting better. Hendrix, Stevie Ray, they were good.
But go to YouTube and look for a channel called CandyRat Records. Players get better.

The music is not my cuppa of tea but this statement cracked me up. Perhaps I am an idiot after all 😄.

The technical complexity of the music, if you ignore his weird voice, is superb. Just a bassist/guitar/drums. And the drummer is a mathematical and calisthenic genius.
NOT my cuppa tea any more either, but I recognize technical proficiency.
I don’t listen to Dragonforce either, even though they are prodigies.

Just YouTube “claypool flea wooten clarke”.
You’ll be exposed to some of the best electric bass ever.
And just YouTube “Jaco Pastorius full album”. He was considered the best jazz bassist in Florida when he was in his teens. Rumor has it he was killed because he pushed a bad bassist off stage and took over for him, and the guy came back and killed him in an alley.
But Jaco was the first best, period. No professional electric bass-player would disagree.
Look up Donna Lee or Portrait of Tracy.
Bobby McFerrin does a seemingly-impossible cover of Donna Lee with just his voice and a microphone.
Glad to be of service, Lovely. I am The Music Evangelist.

I admit, I’ve been holding back.
There is a phenomenal electronic musician. Goes by the moniker Squarepusher. He has an album, recorded live in front of a small audience, called “Solo Electric Bass.”
He was already established as a genius in quite a few electronic music genres, and nobody knew he could use a bass like it was his voice.
YouTube: Solo Electric Bass full concert.
This guy is the best I’ve seen in all my years.

It’s just him, a bass, and an amp, on a stage. That’s it.

Then there’s Damian Coccio’s album, also just a bass, but with muted effects, not too many, more dry than wet, called “Waves of Spring”.
Tell you what, I’d rather be blind than deaf.
Although, we had a deaf guy — best soup cook ever, perhaps from heightened senses — at our restaurant a couple of years ago. He came up to my apartment one day, saw my guitar, looked at me and said, “Do you mind?” I gave it to him and he played it better than I can. I was visibly stunned, and asked him (he lip-reads quite well) “how?”
He said, “I feel it!”, with a big smile.
I asked him, since I can’t play much anymore — being a dishwasher by trade precludes my participation in this activity, with no skin on my fingertips — “Can I give you my guitar? Do you have one?”
He took out his phone and showed me a picture of his kitchen wall. 8 guitars, hanging on it. A console piano under them all. A deaf guy is more dedicated to music than me.
That stunned me. He works for our other restaurant and sits at our bar now.

Whibey scientist talking about global climate change wiping out life on earth. Whiney scientist ends program by taking us deep in to a melting glacier showing up microbes that are tensvof thousands of years old, live in the ice, under tons of pressure, existing by eating the rocks ground into dust by moving glaciers. Add that to the microbes living buried under and inside sheets of salt, next to boiling fumeroles deep under the ocean or in boiling hot pots on top of volcanoes and I’m not seeing a general extinction event. Maybe an extinction of whiney Henny Penny’s who shall have to forgo Starbucks and Old Navy for eternity but life…I don’t think so.

Didn’t ask him why Hillary, just hours before Trump gave the ‘go’ sign, said we should bomb Syrian airfields (plural, mind you)’ putting Russian personnel in danger of being injured/killed, while Trump hit one field devoid of Russians as a warning? Trump gave Putin an ‘out’, would Hillary’s multiple bombings have started a war?

Stopping in to say howdy from the great abyss next door – I think I really to have a mental issue interacting over there! – to get a take on a suspect blog post I came across doing some research on Syria.
https://gosint.wordpress.com/2017/04/07/former-dia-colonel-us-strikes-on-a-syria-based-on-a-lie/
I have never heard of this Col. Lang, was wondering if Czar or Col. Ken may have heard of him? Lang goes on to say…
These facts will eventually come out. Donald Trump will most likely not finish his term as President. He will be impeached, I believe, once Congress is presented with irrefutable proof that he ignored and rejected intelligence that did not support the myth that Syria attacked with chemical weapons.
needless to say – pretty juicy claims to be making. We’ll see I guess – Col. Lang’s story doesn’t completely add up since general thought is the DIA would NOT feed the President false intel assuming they to be on the same side fighting Deep State. Furthermore, based on several reports the decision to take action, was at least partly, based on several other countries intel.
The impeachment claim does seem to be something to watch for since we already have Fargas (DoD) stating that impeachment would be coming soon after the Inauguration. Also, we know that the Deep State has been trying every trick in the book to ‘create’ a narrative that would support impeachment proceedings. Optics is everything right now and the buck stops with POTUS. Even if he was fed a bogus IC report from the black hats, he has the only authority as CiC to decide on action. Only he can take responsibility on that action; he can not transfer that responsibility to the black hats.

I’ll tackle the item about sarin. Sarin is often formulated (I would say usually) to disperse quickly, so that even a short time later, it is safe (or moderately safe) to enter the area without special breathing equipment, and even without gloves. If an invading army uses sarin in this way, it means that the enemy could be killed/disabled, and it would still be possible to enter the area without killing their own troops. Some of these people may have become ill later. Exposure doesn’t automatically and immediately result in death. There were hundreds of people injured in Japan, and a relatively small portion of them died.
Results are affected by many things, weather conditions being very significant; wind direction and speed etc.

Just doing a quick search on Bing, I see a lot of small blogs reprinting this same text, but I didn’t find where it came from originally, and it isn’t (as far as I could see) being featured on any prominent blogs or other news sources. I remain suspicious.

yeah me too!
The way the original blog author presents the content it seemed like this Col. Lang had his own blog writing about this subject. From there the author asked the Colonel if they could reprint his thoughts.
I wasn’t able to find anything related to origination of the “cross post”.

I saw that too. No links or reference to the original.

the only reference to ‘a’ original is this link
http://turcopolier.typepad.com/sic_semper_tyrannis/2017/04/donald-trump-is-an-international-law-breaker.html
which is accompanied by this text:
Donald Trump Is An International Law Breaker by Publius Tacitus — P. Lang FaceBook Page = Former DIA Colonel: “US strikes on Syria based on a lie”
I’m will assume that this is meant to be understood as the linked article as the Colonel’s writings /words. And based on this link it does in fact seem to be the Colonel’s work…

We recovered Russian chem weapon filled items and their instruction manuals, in Russian, in the first Gulf War and there’s still no official government recognition of that.

Always good to see you Ziiggii 😊.
Personal opinion is that it sounds like hysteria from the usual subjects.
Whenever someone tells you that President Trump was totally snookered by this, especially if they claim to be a Trump supporter, remind them that by their measure of the man then the good General Warrior Saint Mattis was also snookered.
Plus Stella posted some good information about the hue and cry that it could not have been Sarin Gas a couple days ago and today.
My opinion the article is nonsense.

No, never heard of him but I’m getting the feeling that he have worked over in the building with all of that aluminum foil on the windows.
I’ve never heard of burned explosives or propellants in an open area causing the effects we’re being told of unless the byproducts were heavily concentrated…and then we have that wind blowing…
We’ve been over that ‘handling without gloves’ thing and I do not see anyone giving mouth-to-mouth but I do see people being disrobed and hosed down. Remember, thebpersistence of Sarin depends on its formulation, wind speed (there’s that wind again), temperature, lotsa things. If the Col had gone thru chem weapon offensive-use class he’d know that before you decide to employ chem weapons you have to take in WHY you’re using them (e.g., produce casualties, denial of terrain, etc) and then adjust your formulation AND take into effect the weather conditions. Ft Mac had a NBC defensive school and I did the live weapons traning too, and before even Mac had the course.
Let’s wait and see what the samples in the IRC’s hands (and others) show. I’m betting Sarin, it’s the cost effective go-to product and leaves long-lasting and distinctive decomp products. Then again, even with that proof the guys in the building with the tin foil windows probably won’t beilieve it.

This is a Russian journo at the base latter in the day.
I don’t speak Russian but if those containers are there (presumed to only be cluster munitions) then one has to wonder if there are any “empties” stashed around there as well. These same type of containers are also used to store CW.

I put some of the replies into Google Translator so this should clear everything up 🙄.
For the clever – CIT recognized by the pictures of these containers, replicated in the media, that there was not there chem. Weapons. Did you personally bring evidence in the states? And then no one has seen them, except hairdressers and other “experts”
Maybe Czar or Col. Ken can figure it out.

The structure of delivery systems was largely in the EOD folks’ hands, they had responsibility for them until they went ‘boom’…or ‘squirt’. You have a number of different aerial delivery systems, some dispense a unitary, or premixed agent, while others dispense a binary agent, or one that has two parts that need to be mixed. Sone of the binary systems mix in the air or on release and it goes on and on and on…
You can dispense in a plume as you make a run, you can have a air or ground burst or even have submunitions that are released (cluster bombs)….it goes on and on.
EOD or systems specialists can recognize the stuff in the background if it is chemically related but I’d need a specific FOMCAT book to ID it. Don’t sweat the details, issue is: what does he have and how much of it.

Sorry, caught up in jargon: Explosive Ordnance Disposal, the guys that disarm bombs, in short. See movie ‘The Hurt Locker’.
I was referring to the picture and what those containers might be. It would take a specialist to say what they really are. Russians are really good at hiding illegal stuff as ‘dual use’, i.e. They have an illegal munition that also functions as an ashtray, the illegal thing could be used for something else (aerial insect spraying) or held in parts unrecognizable until assemmbled into the end-use item.
I’m saying there’s a lot of ways to deliver the gas on target though ‘witnesses’ say they saw puffs of smoke on the ground and in the air and that might indicate two different methods of delivery. Or it may indicate some Syrian ‘technician’ (two more words you don’t generally see in the same sentence) screwed up the fuzing. Lotta ‘ifs’.

Another point: the DIA wouldn’t be the only one providing intel that Trump made the decision on, far far from it. You’d have CIA, State, more than likely some US on-the-ground folks providing intel from their sources, this ain’t a one dog show.
Assad’s been using chlorine but we’ve sorta been looking the other way. Assad also had, before the Russians house cleaning, what may have been the world’s largest stockpile of various chem weapons so the possibilities he hid some behind the couch is more of a reality than a guess. He knows the Russians need him and knows how far he can push them. Assad remembers Hafizullah Amin and won’t make the mistake of not having lots of loyal troops nearby so the Russians will have to walk a tightrope for time being.

well, I only sited DIA as the source only because the rest of the IC is in such chaos.
Also, there was that ‘rumor’ going around that Saddam sent most of his CW stock to Syria in the middle of the night.

Yeah, there was a HUGE traffic jam on the hiway to Syria some days before and during the invasion. Also some ‘rumors’ that some made their way into the Beqaa Valley and some Russian ‘special’ forces with aircraft making rapid trips into Iraq.
Saddam had all sorta stuff, and European and Asian companies had no second thoughts about providing him with banned chemicals and equipment. Russia had fingers in the pot but they weren’t alone.

With standard Sarin you’re dealing with very corrosive chemicals…think hydrofluoric acid. Chem weapons have to be maintained with a very strict program and you vety seldom hear the words ‘corect proventive maintenance’ and ‘Mideast country’ used in the same sentence without a fricative modifier.
Assad had tons and tons of it, far too much for his pissant yardbirds to maintain. For the Russians to have removed it all would have been a greater task than, had it ever happened, their removal of banned chem weapons from Iraq before our 2003 invasion. The Mideasterners are also quite fond of just burying stuff, we dug up frontline fighter aircraft the Iraqis buried in both invasions… tell me Assad didn’t hide stuff in the sandbox.

Neat, that your classmate was published. And a great article that gets to the very essence of liberalism. I think his 4 categories of liberalism are very accurate.
I think it is more precise to say that liberalism is a cult.
I think the primary purpose of political correctness is to corrupt character.
Recently I had someone say to me that he believed that if the outside world just let the Sunnis and Shiites duke it out like the protestants and Catholics did they would settle their differences and then they would live in peace like protestants and Catholics do now, after all the protestants and Catholics were once at war.
There was so much wrong with that reasoning I couldn’t even begin to have a conversation with him. That said, I’m going to guess that it is something he heard or read somewhere as it is so divorced from reality it has to be a chant that is percolating in liberal circles rather than something that someone has thought through.
Cult like obedience to a ludicrous thought process is spot on.

Thanks, Tundra. What a great essay.
I guy at work I described a couple of weeks ago is a hybrid of #2 and #3.
Messed up life that scarred him, and highly educated narcissist who never wants to be wrong, so educated that he’s an atheist, not agnostic at all. He KNOWS the Bible is all bull pancakes. Could fly planes before the epilepsy that tends to break his feet when it cramps them, knows every edible wild mushroom in Michigan. Degrees in Biology, and Chemistry.
I tried to explain to him why I cannot have a conversation with him, but it is a paradox, because that would require having a conversation with him. Today was a breakthrough with this guy. I had to put my hand out — “stop, not your turn yet”. He actually stopped and listened to a whole paragraph.
His brain works too fast, and he seems to only be able to focus on, and respond to, the last sentence or two, not the origin of the discussion.
I told him again today, three weeks later, that my silver tongue is not going to convince him of the veracity of Scripture, and that his will never convince me otherwise. “Watch me work. Watch me actively love every person here.”

I agree unless there is a larger picture (can’t imagine what that picture might be) this chap has a lawsuit on his hands. United entered into a contract, breeched the contract then blooded their contract partner for not agreeing to the changed rules.
The cherry on top is that after bloodying their passenger under the guise that it was justified because a United’s employee had a greater legal right to the seat on the plane because as they were expected to work on another flight in the city that was the original plane’s destination, but United had to cancel the flight anyhow to clean it up.
Good grief.

It seems to me that United needs some new management with a better perspective on their paying passengers.

On a Northwest flight to Miami in the 1980’s, a man (frequent flyer) in line at the desk was told by a young whippersnapper, “We have a RIGHT to overbook our flights!”, and a flight attendant on the same flight told a woman who asked her a question about a policy, “I can have you arrested!”
This is not a new situation.

I heard on the news that United has said they are investigating the situation and that the man who dragged him out of the seat did not follow procedure. Ya think?!

Ka Ching ! Though I think that the person who dragged the poor chap off the plane was a police officer but I’m not sure.

Well then there is going to be a division of liability. Of course that depends on why the officer was told the passenger needed to be removed.

I think legally the airline is clear. Remember you give up your basic rights when you get on a plane. They are protected six ways to Sunday. They have created a PR firestorm, and someone needs a good shellacing. They could have upped the offer to get off, but they stayed on the cheap side. Fed law favors them, maybe this incident will cause some kind of change.

I read an article about that a few minutes ago.
First I haven’t invested that much time into reading so maybe I shouldn’t even comment but I’ll comment on what I know. There are a few things in play here.
1) For me it is unclear if it was a police officer who dragged off the passenger or a airport security guard, I’ve read it was CPD and I read it was an airport security guard.
2) Did the airline do everything in its power to make for a more peaceful departure? That is where they are going to get into legal trouble IMO . United in a reasonable interpretation of the law had a greater responsibility to get another passenger to bargain for a later flight. I read the $400 and $800 offers were not motivation enough.
3) The chap is going to sue, United is going to settle, it is a public relations nightmare.
4) I don’t know if the chap is really a doctor, if he really had patients to see or who escalated the encounter during the removal. It looks like the person working on behalf of United dragged him out of his seat. Any attorney worth his salt can make a good argument that the physical escalation was not reasonable. Again going from what I’ve viewed and read which is probably less than most folks.
5) Would a reasonable passenger know about the federal law? Was the law cited to the chap or was he just told, so sad you lost the draw get off, and then he was dragged off the plane? Ignorance of the law is not a defense but the lawful handling of a situation, especially when you use physical force has to be pretty tidy.
Sorry if I’m rambling. I just find the situation interesting.
Here is the article I read from the NY Post.

Our Heavenly Father, Your children come to you tonight to ask for healing and peace throughout our country so that we may return to being One Nation Under God. Guide us to be leaders in Your Kingdom, spreading Your Love and Salvation to all. Forgive us our sins and deliver us from evil.
Lord, we ask for a blanket of protection over all our troops and law enforcement who serve to defend and protect us. Bless our representatives with the strength and wisdom they need to achieve the path You have chosen for us.
Please place Your Guardian Angels of Protection around Donald Trump and Mike Pence and their families as they seek to lead America back to You.
Grant us patience, Lord, as the evil ones try to anger us and cause us to fall.
Spread blessings over Israel and Netanyahu.
We humbly ask that You please comfort those who are grieving and in pain.
