A very interesting civil conversation between PJW and Mitchell. And just an aside Ann Culter needs to take a chill pill and catch her breath, I think that she has dug her heels in and now has blinders on. It seems all the people losing their minds over President Trump’s singular strike thing that it means we have boots on the ground and are going to war with Syria in the way we did in Iraq. Trump is a lot more interested in the result than Bush, Mattis is a lot more willing to do what needs to get done and will have the freedom to do it.

    New sheriff world.

    • I admit to being alarmed by the air strikes initially. After listening to the reasoning behind it, I feel better about how it was handled. It sounds like great thought was given on how to send a strong message to Assad that Trump will not ignore atrocities committed against innocents. We just don’t need to get drawn into another war. Bill M. is saying in the interview that obviously Trump and his people had very good intel before taking decisive action. Regular folks will never have access to that intel and it’s naive for the folks like Coulter, Cernovich, Watson, and others to armchair quarterback Trump’s decision.

I was very concerned with the airstrikes at first but after 8 years of bumbling Bush and Anti American Obama my thought process was mired in the “old”. After walking away and thinking it through I had to boot the old thinking and remember it is Mattis who was part of the planning and that calmed me down.

I also agree with many of the folks who say that this was a very strong message to Xi.

Obama set the policy, only thing Trump’s doing differently than Barry is actually following thru on the threats the POtuS made.
Syria’s a lot more complicated than just shutting ISIS down. Let’s not forget that Turkey still wants what it sees as its territory, i.e. those eastern Syrian provinces, while still wanting to deal with the Kurds in Syria that Assad and Russia have basically given haven to.
US has to come to grips with the fact Russia’s going to be a presence in Syria whether or not Assad’s there, Russia has heavy economic and strategic reasons for being there.
Iran has visions of being the regional power but Turkey has the largest military in the Mideast so it partners with the local Great Satan to bakance that out. Iran’s Hezz program to destabilize Lebanon benefits Russia as does Iran being a willing partner in Russia’s attack on Israel. With Rissia in control in Syria that would put Iran and Rusdia on the Golan Heights and on Syrian bases with modern weapons. There’s also the matter of those huge petro reserves discovered in a area in tbe Med claimed by both Israel and Lebanon..
There are more reasons this is a trigger area requiring US resolve but point is it’s going to require a strong and resolved US leadership to deal with and I don’t think Rats or RINOs can do it.

All of the enemies of the US and freedom have been boosted by Obama’s administration including the Rats and RINOS.

I’ve seen a lot of comments saying that the attack in Syria is a hoax and that it couldn’t have been Sarin, because the people aren’t blue, and the responders are handling the victims without gloves, which would surely kill them. My response to these assertions:

Look at photos of the Tokyo subway Sarin attack. Those who are cleaning up the spill (punctured containers of liquid Sarin) are wearing protective clothing and gas masks, but many who are seeing to the wounded are not. The reason is that Sarin gas dissipates very quickly. So it is not a sure thing that responders would have been killed pretty quickly, especially if some time had passed – say 15 to 30 minutes.

I don’t know about skin color of the victims, but the victims in the Tokyo photos don’t look blue.

And we didn’t land on the moon.
We don’t kno whstbthe Sarin, if it were Satin, concentration was. Were they working in the area it was dropped or were the casualties carried to a new location? Were the vics at least partially decontaminated before they arrived? Dud the vics have vapor/droplets on them or had they just inhaled vapor? How long was it before the vics arrived, was there to for the any residue to evaporate?
What were the ground temp and wind conditions? Witnesses say there were air and ground bursts which would have dispersed the agent to where winds and temperatures would have further dispersed and degraded the agent. Was the agent mixed in a persistent mix and, if so, how persistent was it?
We also aren’t seeing if the responders are suffering ill effects as at very low levels it takes a while for effects to manifest and they may not be fatal but more debilitating, just ask our troops who were exposed duringbtne first Gulf War.
There are also other agents in plsy than Sarin.

All of those are good questions, and explain the photos of Tokyo, which definitely was a Sarin attack.

My point was shorter – look at the pictures. What you see proves that first responders have touched Sarin victims without apparently immediately dropping dead, which has been claimed.

Tokyo was a honemade Sarin that was made to go to vapor quickly. Military adjusts the volatility according to misdion needs. Aum Shinrikyo also made a small amount of VX it used to bargain for lighter sentences.

The experts always come out in events like this. How much do you want to bet that 99% of the hoax proponents knew nothing about sarin gas before the attack ? And really know nothing about it now.

All it takes is one popular tweeter or one popular blogger to make one ignorant statement and suddenly that statement is adopted by the reef fish as if it they have a doctorate in the subject. The reef fish defend the blogger/tweeter’s opinion as if it is a personal affront to that person if you disagree with their opinion. The art of discussion and the gift of curiosity is thrown out the door.

Sadly the day of Stepford citizenry has long been here. We saw it often with Trump zealots who could not accept that he was indeed human and could make mistakes.

That is why I found the Mitchel/PJW discussion so refreshing.

I don’t think we will get the full story on the sarin gas attack, Russia and Syria are involved so why would we? Our own leaders have been lying to us for my entire lifetime so why should I expect two men who are openly thugs to be honest to me when my elected representatives aren’t?

Manhunt for Wisconsin suspect wanted for stealing guns, threatening politicians

    http://www.foxnews.com/us/2017/04/08/manhunt-for-wisconsin-suspect-wanted-for-stealing-guns-threatening-politicians.html

A nationwide manhunt is on for a Wisconsin man wanted for a series of crimes including stealing over a dozen guns and allegedly plotting mass violence targeting law enforcement and political figures.

Over 150 police officers, sheriff’s deputies, and federal agents are on the trail of Joseph Jakubowski, who Wisconsin authorities say is considered “armed and highly dangerous” after he allegedly burglarized a local gun store in Janesville, a city roughly 40 miles south of Madison. Among the 16 weapons stolen were several high caliber handguns, and at least two semi-automatic assault rifles. Police also believe he may possess a bulletproof vest and military-style helmet.

On Thursday, investigators met with an individual who claimed to know Jakubowski. The “associate” stated Jakubowski had expressed interest in stealing firearms and desired to “save everyone by taking out one politician at a time”. The individual also conveyed that Jakubowski had written a lengthy manifesto airing his grievances with the government and that he had mailed the 161 page manifesto to President Trump. The Rock County Sheriff’s Office says that in the manifesto Jakubowski wrote about a disregard and disrespect for public officials and law enforcement, even calling both “agents of the 1% who enslave and keep the population down.”

A cell phone video was released by the Sheriff’s Office showing the suspect allegedly showing off the manifesto before placing it in the mail. In the video he says “There it is you see it’s getting shipped. Revolution! It’s time for change.”

Lord, we ask for a blanket of protection over all our troops and law enforcement who serve to defend and protect us. Bless our representatives with the strength and wisdom they need to achieve the path You have chosen for us.

Please place Your Guardian Angels of Protection around Donald Trump and Mike Pence and their families as they seek to lead America back to You.

Grant us patience, Lord, as the evil ones try to anger us and cause us to fall.

We humbly ask that You please comfort those who are grieving and in pain.

because this is something that everyone will want to hear about

Dh and I were doing our customary evening walk, through a very pretty campground surrounded on three sides by Lake Chatuge.. well, we were half finished, minding our own business, when six feet in front of us, kerplunk! a squirrel dropped out of the sky onto the asphalt.. It landed on its four little paws and just looked startled,, then is slowly walked away to a tree… We looked up and saw branches, up high, at least 20′ in the air. It really was the most amazing thing…I mean squirrels are not supposed to fall, nope, they most assuredly are not.

The funny/ awful thing is the last three days, Dh actually hit two with the car, and narrowly missed two more,,, then there they were falling form the sky.

Oh, I’ve seen it live. When I was in FL at my folks two years ago, we were watching them play in these insanely tall conifers from the screen-porch, chasing each other around at about a hundred feet up. I say this because the fall took at least three seconds. I got a shocked face, and said OMG! The thing got up and ran right back up!

It’s interesting that the in last war we ever definitively won, we never invaded the nation.

Japan surrendered, and a hundreds of thousands of lives on both sides were saved.

Nearly every war with boots on the ground we lost. Czar? Are we trying to not win, and just fight forever?

We learned how to WIN. We haven’t won since. And this is not at all meant to disparage our soldiers, sailors, and airmen. We haven’t won since we had a guy at the chessboard who actually wanted us to win, or could even define the term.

    I hope that’s changed, finally.
