I have done the same. Don’t know how he does it. I have great respect for the “straight man” in a comedy duo. I cannot suppress laughter easily. Except maybe in front of a magistrate or a cop. Pretty good at it, then. But don’t let me help with a practical joke. I will spoil it, because when something is really funny, I cannot for the life of me keep a straight face.

As a woman who was trained in and worked in a male field and environment (Finance in DOD & DOD subcontractors) I must say from experience this is really, really wrong! I confess I could not even click on the article to read it because my blood pressure went up, so I am going by the headline. Prove your worth by being the best – that’s what I did. This attitude diminishes the real problems in the workplace.

I didn’t read it either. I’m tired of this dumbing down things for women crap. My father worked in a STEM field for 20 years and never got anywhere in the job because women and minorities who could not do the job were promoted over him, because he is a white man.
If you can’t do the work you don’t belong in the class. This feminist can fold her complaint up until it’s all nice sharp corners and then she can stick it where the sun doesn’t shine.

First line’s about an hour and a half out, second bigger one’s about two behind that. Secobd line looks to be breaking up sonewhat, rather have some breathers between blobs.
I got the idea for the house from the Army…they were looking for explosion resistant and relatively easy to erect structures. They tested buildings built from heavy styrofoam molds that had concrete poured in, the Mean Green version of ICF Insulated Concrete Form buildings. We decided on ICF so we have 6-inch thick concrete walls with two inches of closed-cell foam inside and out. Roof is steel and all of the trusses are 2X10 with full hurricane clips throughout…roof is bolted to the walls by an 18″ threaded j- bolt every 32 inches. Windows are hi-impact insulated glass and doors are the same steel security doors urban businesses use on secure alley entrances…not all that decorative but secure as hell.
We knew of the tornado potential here, we have had theee in ten years within three miles and we had that one during Katrina, before we built, that wiped out our 11,000 trees. Be prepared…

2.5 inches of rain and some straight-line winds that blew down branches but that’s about it. Lake’s up but draining and creek’s way up and running like mad. I’m hoping the lake and the creek come down as we’re expecting another ‘rain event’ later this week though it’s not predicted to be as wet.

You lost 11.000 trees – that’s terrible! Up here maple trees are a major part of the economy. I hope the loss of trees did not cause economic damage as well.

You can’t tell it’s concrete, just could be a Florida CBS home from the look of it. Funny thing was it was cheaper than had we wood-built it. The forms went up in about three days and walls were poured in one long day. Company owner and his small crew did it for a flat fee, no delays, overtime or slowing down. Owner checked each concrete load as it arrived, rejected two, and was right on the walls as each was pumped. In all it was one week from the owner and his crew arriving until the walls were completely done and ready for the roofers to start. In all, with some lucky breaks we got, it was about 20% cheaper than had we gone conventional.
Low guestimate by our forester was 11K, top end was 14K. Trees were pine, planted from about 450 an acre up and a Katrina-spawned tornado thru about 40 acres like a lawnmower. We weren’t hit as bad as some, my neighbor lost acres of 50-year old pines and out forester lost some thirty acres of densely-planted oaks that were nearly 100 years old. Trees regrow.

I wish I could have worked on that job, Czar, just as a gofer, even. I love working construction jobs, even though I’m not a builder. Even more that working them, I love learning new techniques, and I’ve never seen that one before. Excellent description of the construction process.

Remember how we’ve discussed, both here and next doir, about how the FBI’s been caught manufacturing evidence and using phony ‘experts’ to convict targets?
The NSA and CIA have been digging in the nation’s IT system for decades, they have an intimate knowledge of how it works. If they want to plant something on your phobe, computer or even in your bank account, it’s there. They can’t prosecute any more than the FBI can, only DoJ does that, so it looks like all fingers point back to the DoJ…are we to believe they don’t know if evidence is manufactured and planted?
Looks like we’ve sorta lost control of what passes as our government, it’s been a gradual process and I’m not sure thst Trump can undo it in just four short years. Looks like Trump is making powerful enemies at the hoghest levels, and thst can be…unhealthy.

Back to one of my fav sayings: “when the elephants fight only the grass gets trampled.” Obama knew this was going on, he can’t be that stupid, but it appears he thought Hillary would win and she, for $$$$$ compensation, would continue his and the prog’s program of turning America into a second world entitleocracy where the few working would be bled dry to support the Rat fifth columnists.
This type of i tel is vital to social programming and sicietal reengineering. Look at the personal data missing, from nearly 100-million medical files to data on what you buy, where you buy it and how often. There’s enough personal data on every American ‘lost’ thst would allow the holders to build detailed profiles on a large part of America. You wanna remove trouble makers you found thru your data mining? Well use your accumulated data to create profiles, use these profiles to target areas where you can plant false data and blend it in so seamlessly thru your understanding and manipulations of the profiles. Wake up,one morning and find there’s an offshore account in your name with $2-million in it and an online transaction record between your PC and the bank going back two years. Oh my, try explaining that to the IRS…oh my, iscthat them at the door????

As you said; “its evil”!!!! You are so right!!! Received call from neighbors ( very elderly couple ),the Mrs said; ” lane was washed out and blocked”, “could I do something”? Took the small tractor over, cleared a couple of branches and re graded lane. The closest stream is 50m away. Just got back, wet, wet, and wet!!! Having coffee only, just in case. Cloud too cloud Lighting is picking up, rain is heavier, no wind……..

It’s going to be real interesting to see what Putin does with these terrorists. The Russian people have not put up with them trying to push their sick ideology. I was surprised to read Putin has allowed the building of so many mosques in Russia. Perhaps he is trying to show religion is accepted now in Russia, but their beliefs are NOT religion.

I think Firefox did an update that I kept putting off. It was so screwed up it would hardly run. I got mad and restarted the computer and everything cleared up. I have no clue, but it has been working fine since.

When I worked in IT, our first piece of advice was “reboot”. Better, power down, then power up. It is amazing how many problems clear up.

I think “restart” is power down, then power up. That would be my guess, because it shuts off completely and then starts up again.

There is a file, deep in the bowels of the firefox profile that is where all the places live… Not sure, something about links and such… but starting with a fresh file helped so much.. I was going to give up… I just keep reading different troubleshooting suggestions..

I saw it on a you tube video.. It is a file that can be corrupted and slow things down a lot. It was easy to do… and it really seemed to help.

If you are on the same version and setup that I have, there is an icon in the upper right of your screen that is a square with three horizontal bars. Click on that to access either Options or History. If you don’t see that, let me know. You may have menus instead.

Was just going to suggest – disconnect from network before doing changes or encountering probs, check for offline content, make changes, then reconnect and check to make sure all is back online.
Unasked-for advice – am always disconnected, including cable modem, when not using ‘puter. Also, know your ISPs lease length. T/W is 48 hrs. Disconnecting for >lease length gives new IP. Firgit how I know this stuff.

Even doing Anti-malware scans.
As far as signing into websites and having to actually enter my username and password? I’ve been doing that, with very complex passwords, for many years, because it’s good “best practices” security, and a different password for every single website for which you need one.
Make a notepad file, keep it on your taskbar. When you get asked to Create a Password by Amazon, or what-not, look away from your keyboard and pretend you’re Michael J. Fox off his meds for a second, making sure to hit all the rows. Copy it. Paste it into the ever-increasing Notepad file. Then look back at your 10-or-so random character debris and make changes (to add some symbols, which makes the password stronger, or to delete characters that are not allowed in a password).

Another way is to pick a phrase you can remember, then use the first letter of each word, throw in a capital or two and add a couple of numbers and symbols.

LOL You won’t believe this. This afternoon my connection to the Internet went haywire. I rebooted and it didn’t change. I disconnected from the Internet and they gave me about 4 different, conflicting, error messages to log back on. So, I thought about what you said and shut down the computer completely, and durned if it didn’t connect with the Internet without a problem and seems to be fine now. Thx. 😀

There is something else I do… at a command prompt it is called netsh winsock reset…. This is the same as a magic spell… It used to help with Chrome… the problem is then you have to restart… I was really ready to toss this machine.

Hm. Wonder if I need that. Tonight I saw the light on my Belkin router was orange. I have read that if it is like that somebody may be trying to hack in to your wifi. I unplugged it and turned it back on and it went back to green. I saw no difference on my computer screen.

Mornin’ Everyone!
Here’s today’s Bacon Recipe:
IRISH CHEDDAR AND BACON SODA BREAD
Ingredients:
1 tablespoon vegetable oil
8 ounces cooked Irish bacon or Canadian bacon
4 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon granulated sugar
1 cup grated Irish cheddar (4 ounces) or white cheddar
4 green onions or scallions, chopped, green part only
1 1/2 cups buttermilk
Instructions:
Preheat the oven to 400 degrees and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
In a skillet on medium-low heat, warm up the oil. Add the Irish bacon to the skillet, and cook for 1-2 minutes on each side. Remove from the skillet and chop the bacon.
In a large bowl, stir together the flour, baking soda, kosher salt, granulated sugar, Irish cheddar, chopped Irish bacon and green onions until well blended. Pour in the buttermilk and mix until the dough comes together.
Form the dough into a round loaf and place on the baking sheet. With a sharp knife, cut a cross into the top. Bake for 40-45 minutes or until the loaf is lightly browned and sounds hollow when tapped on the bottom. (I found variation for doneness of 180-200 degrees when checking online bread info).
Serve warm. (with Irish butter )
Yield 8-12 servings

That must have been great! When my mom was tested to be a coastal watcher during WW2 she said they would strap you in an open cockpit plane, bring you up and rollover. If you did not throw up or freak out you continued on in the program.
Saw your reply to art post late yesterday. Glad you enjoyed it. I’m envious of anyone who was able to grow up in a western environment as it sounds like you were.

Nothing but snow here, and more last night. We’re finally getting above freezing for an hour or so in the midafternoon, but no sign of any blooming anything. Fir and spruce still providing the only green in the landscape. But at least there’s LOTS more daylight!

When I lived in S. Cal., we had two Fruitless Mulberry trees, one in the back yard and one in the front. People evidently drove off the main road to see it in the, well, December, when it turned brilliant yellow. It was one of the few trees that turned in the area. LOL

Lucky they were males. The females make a real mess. My neighbor has one, and the berries get all over my garage and shed roof. Then the birds eat them and evacuate them all over the driveway.

Yes, they were not messy. But, that made me think about the fact that in that area we had “a” bird. It was a mockingbird, I believe, and was one of the few we heard around there. One stupid bird that kept us awake at night and dive bombed us during the day. 🙄

U.S. Sen. John McCain on Monday announced that he will support an upcoming effort by his fellow Republicans to win Senate confirmation of Judge Neil Gorsuch to the Supreme Court by changing the chamber’s rules in order to overcome Democratic opposition.
McCain, in remarks to reporters, said he had “no choice” but to go along with a change in rules ending a tradition of 60 votes in the 100-member Senate needed to advance Supreme Court nominees to a final vote. He said he would support the rule change “because we need to confirm Gorsuch.”
In the past, McCain has strongly opposed such a change.

Mike has to know somebody on the inside. I listened to a bit of his periscope about this Susan Rice stuff and he really doesn’t like Reince and Paul Ryan. They are hurting Trump. Trump got rid of the leaker, but Reince hired her and he had his reasons and they weren’t noble. 😡

I was wondering why Mike went on 60 Minutes. He gets asked to do interviews often and he always tells them no because he has no desire to see them show 3 minutes of an hour long interview which will make Mike look like a goofball.
This is of course exactly what 60 Minutes tried to do, but they are so caught up in creating their own reality that 60 Minutes didn’t realize even the short clips made Pelly look like a goose stepping incurious moron and Mike look like an inquisitive reporter should look.
So, back to why did Mike go on 60 Minutes? My guess is to get into the mainstream instead of just the online community and then dump the Susan Rice information.
I can’t wait to see what else Mike is going to spring on the bastages.

I don’t like to state the obvious but this poor guy’s grandson is not dead because someone shot him with an AR-15 he is dead because he broke into someone’s house and was either armed or with mates who were armed and none of them were even bright enough or humble enough to skedaddle when they were confronted with a gun. Not to mention that the poor 23 year old was only alerted to the problem because his grandfather was in a physical fight with the three chaps trying to defend his home and family.

Not yet. The girls are spoken for (3) and I am 4th pick for the 7 males. I want an orange and white, but even that isn’t guaranteed right now, as there are only three male orange and white puppies. They are all cute, anyway.

They are all beautiful. When we decided to get a dog I was looking for a snuggly rolly polly puppy instead we all fell in love with a skinny little dog who was skittish and afraid of everyone. She is now a snuggle bunny and I am so happy that we got her. I can’t believe she will be 13 soon! I bet whichever one you bring home will steal your heart before you get to your front door.
Prayers continue for the breeder’s child.

I remember bringing Stella home as a 7 week old puppy. She was car sick on the way home, but such a sweet little thing! Six pounds of solid energy. And puppy breath.
A puppy is a lot of work, but I will be at home all day now, so it will be easier. With Stella, I had a dog walker for a while who would come at noon to walk and feed her. Then there is all the chewing, the sharp little teeth, and “accidents” in the house, although those should be minimized since I will be here to take him out more frequently.
They look cute, but a Brittany is solid muscle, and very strong for their size. Adult weight is about 35-45 pounds.

We found our first dog (The white one) at our local shelter. She already had a tag on her cage that said she was going to be adopted but the lady at the desk told us to put our name down because sometimes adoptions fell through.
We were in the car when we found out that she was ours a car full of joy and and screeches of three girls.
She was about 16 weeks when we brought her home and already potty trained. Very skittish and she still is and still is very fearful of men. But most of the time she is just a happy if not neurotic dog.
