It’s been a nice roundtable discussion here, but under all those rails, and those ties, and those spkes, there is a bed.
And I gotta go to bed.

I always wanted to have a quick wit, especially with puns. If I did, I would get a digital audio tape recorder and then?
I’d have a lot of pun wit DAT.

Coffee! Isn’t that what we were saying goes in brownies yesterday – I don’t know, maybe the cat got the idea from what his person was putting in the last batch of brownies! wink, wink 😉

I think the cat’s addiction to catnip is genetic.
I gave Tripod a leaf, fresh off the plant, and he ate it so fast he almost bit my fingertip off.
He had never seen catnip in his life. But it was like giving beef to a dog.

Those pretty blue flowers, bluebonnets, are they spread by seed or bulbs, and how long do they last? I’ll have to check to see if they grow up north. One hot summer day I saw an entire front yard filled with white and some pale, but true blue flowers. It looked so refreshing, and almost surreal.

The bluebonnet is a lupine variety that is an annual grown from seed:

Thanks Stella. I don’t think they would grow up here in the cold north. Interesting they are related, and look like, lupines which do grow here.

According to what I saw, they will grow even in zone 3, I believe.
ADD: In one of the Amazon seed offerings, it says zones 3-10.

We have a couple of colonies of feral cats in the woods around the farm. You generally don’t see them but we have one really lsrge black-and-white shorthair that we’ll see prowling around the fringes.
Yesterday I had the blond dog out with me and, as I was walking down the drive the b&w cat runs across the drive in that playful half-speed lope cats have. About ten feet behind the cat, at the same speed, was the loping blond dog apoarently having a great time with the cat.
Appears ‘feral’ is a fungible term.

Perhaps the B&W wasn’t always feral.

I think you’re right with your last statement.
Cats and dogs are dependents on humans. After so long the domesticated ones interact with the real feral ones, but your domesticated dog is actively domesticating the so-called feral cats.
I spent seven years befriending Miss Kittty. Only in the last winter I knew her did she allow me to pick her up, place her on my lap, and make her purr.
I have pictures.
But Tripod, her friend in the alley, was who domesticated her, and turned her from feral cat into orange tiger on my lap, just by sitting on my lap himself for all of seven years. By year 8 she said, “Okay, he must be sitting Wooly’s lap for some reason….” and finally climbed up.
Sheepdogs domesticate sheep, too. Your blond dog is domesticating those semi-ferals.
