    • I wish he had cited the reference to the verses that talk about Christians taking care of other Christians.

And I disagree with him. We don’t need sermons in churches on aspects of Islam. We need sermons that focus on Christian theology. The reason the church is in the state it’s in is because there is a lack of teaching on Christian theology. Part of the reason I can dissect Islam is because I know theology well enough to know where I’m coming from. As the Gavin DeGraw song goes, “Part of where I’m going is knowing where I’m coming from.” I would argue the Christian church is poorly equipped to handle most other religions because they do not start from the Word.

Colleges are just intolerant bastions of liberal thought. That’s the bottom line about colleges.

Sermons on Christian theology and sermons on aspects of Islam are not mutually exclusive. We need both–because they inform each other. One is the foundation, and the other is a specific application of the foundation, in order to counter the heresy/blasphemy/evil of a deceptive worldview masquerading as a religion.

    • My guess before reading: The five stages are…

      1) Not all Muslims are bad.
      2) Islam is a peaceful religion
      3) Islam is a religion of peace
      4) Just because all the more recent terrorist attacks were carried out by Muslims doesn’t mean all Muslims are terrorists.
      5) Timothy McVeigh was a Christian terrorist so your complaint about Islam is invalid!

Hmm, I mighta done it wrong. I didn’t leave any room for them to come to their senses.

    • It’s an interesting read, but I’m still focused as to how so many people can stay in denial for so long.

I was young when 9/11 happened. Old enough to remember it, but young enough that I didn’t start investigating it until I was in high school. That was the first I had ever heard about Islam, and my reaction to it was not “We should be nicer to Muslims and they won’t do stuff like this.” So as far as I know, the denial must be extreme.

      • MaryfromMarin says:

The denial is extreme; it has been inculcated in many people from childhood on, and our society and media and “personalities” foster it. My explanation of why that is, is because it is demonic. IMO, Islam is the purposefully created “dark counter” to Christianity. Satan conceived of it, birthed it, and has sustained it through the last 1400 years. It is a “religion” of appeasement and violence; exactly the sort of thing Satan would create.

      Well dang.

Does anyone know how to put a cork back in a champagne bottle. I was positively giddy with the dawning peace.

However, Rev. Pierbattista Pizzaballa, the custodian of Catholic Church property in the Holy Land has announced that people should keep their expectations low when it comes to this event.

[No-one should think] “peace will suddenly break out on Monday, or that peace is any closer,” he said to AP.

The truth is that this pope is a poison within the church and a poison to humanity. His words and actions viewed though the lens of the current psychosis of the world delegitimize christianity and legitimize the barbaric cesspool of Islam.

The pope letting an Imam legitimize and promote the words of a savage, pedophile, misogynistic, false prophet is disgusting.

Good will survive this current poison. Goodness will survive the barbarians of Islam.Love will survive the current culture of hate. Faith, hope and love will survive even if it is only a remnant of truth that is left in the end.

Okay, now I’m a little confused. Someone next door mentioned that they had seen this article in 2014 (this one ^^^ is specifically from March 15, 2017, and refers to “this” Sunday, i.e., today).. I searched, and there are a couple of articles from 2014, as well as now, that are quite similar in content.

So I will have to do more searching. There’s something strange about this. Did it happen today? 2014? Did it happen at all? Why the reposting?

Yes, that was one of the ones I saw. I have asked a close friend who is Catholic to see what she can find out. Did it happen in 2014? Before? Never? If it did happen in 2014, why repost and claim that it is only happening now? The articles contradict each other in date, and in other, minor, details. Weird.

Maybe Menagerie might know who/what to ask about this. If you see this, Menagerie, might you be able to try to ascertain the truth about this? Thank you. Not being Catholic, I don’t know where to begin.

Ok I did some research EWTN is considered by most practicing Catholics to be a reliable source in both content and doctrine.

The prayers took place in a Vatican garden rather than St. Peters but the story is sound.

Pope prays for peace with Israeli and Palestinian presidents

            http://www.ewtnnews.com/catholic-news/Vatican.php?id=10124

And yet further proof of how dangerously deep that this pope keeps his head in the sand. Really no different than Obama was when he chastised Christians at a prayer meeting for judging Muslims when Christians were a violent lot themselves.

Pope Francis disagrees with identifying Islam as violent

Pope Francis has questioned the claim that Islam should be identified with violence, in contrast to the Islamic State militant group, which he says is a fundamentalist sect of the religion.

“I do not believe it is right to identify Islam with violence,” the Pope told journalists during the July 31 papal flight to Rome following his apostolic journey to Poland. “This is not right and it is not true.”

“I don’t like to speak about Islamic violence,” the Pope said, taking into account that one sees violence every day in the newspapers, even at the hands of baptised Catholics.

“There are violent Catholics!” he said. “If I speak of Islamic violence, I must speak of Catholic violence.”

            PS 😊

I am an adult covert to Catholicism, my Confirmation teacher was also my sponsor, God Father and spiritual guide, he is a Catholic priest who was ordained during the time I was exploring Catholicism. He left the Church as young man, returned to it and answered a lot of my questions. He never shied away from anything and was extremely smart and orthodox so it was a challenge and a blessing to have him guide me into the faith. Unfortunately we have lost touch over the years but I am going to try and get in touch with him.

I know how much respect that Catholics hold the office of the papacy, but I also know the danger of not calling out evil and IMO this pope’s words and actions promote evil. It is like when parishes moved pedophile priests from one dioceses to the next out of “Christian Compassion” for the pedophile priests. It was wrong, it was evil, and it should be condemned far more than it has by the Church.

The Church IMO is still stuck in the mentality that if people find out that the universe is not Earth-Centric that people will lose their minds and the Church more of it’s revenue. As Catholics we do not like to talk about how money centered the Church is and was, but the facts stand on their own.

Reconciling two verses is a challenge.

And I tell you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of Hades will not overcome it.” Mathew 16:18

“But, when the Son of Man comes, will he find faith on earth?” Luke 18:8

            The best I can say after seeing the wickedness of so many “Christian” churches is;

I believe in God, the father almighty, creator of heaven and earth….

And one more PS. A friend’s granddaughter was murdered, her father beat her to death when she was about 2 years old, this little girl was unbaptized but her grandmother was a devout Catholic. Her grandparents went to the grandmother’s priest and asked for a mass and Catholic burial for the little girl. The priest told them he would not bury an unbaptized child though his church and that it was wrong of them to ask. In not so many words he told them there was no hope or place for their granddaughter in heaven.

The grandparents were devastated. They then went to the church I was attending at the time and asked my priest if he would bury their beloved granddaughter. He said of course he would hold a mass for her and of course he would officiate at her burial. Because of this priest the grandfather became Catholic.

I have seen a lot of things within the Church both devastating and exhilarating. We are all the body of Christ but some people within the Church, within all churches are just assholes.

Afternoon, everyone. Nyet, I finally got the biscuits and gravy I have been wanting. We are in Ormond Beach. The bikers left this morning so it has finally gotten quieter.

I am wondering if it is really ok to use the WIFI here? This is a really nice time share but it was severely damaged in the last hurricane that hit here. Everything but the curtains and the WIFI in the room seems to be repaired.

The sun seems to be working fine, along with the wind machine. We can hardly stand up straight on the beach. LOL

My folks lived there for a couple of years. Too much for me when I visited. Lots of cool state parks around, but not for me. Not for my folks, either. 50 miles east is better for quietude. Nice house in Ormond, too, neat design. Sort-of-gated community like Zimmerman’s (no gate, just a few brick structures at the entrances). When I visited for a couple of weeks, cops showed up and knocked on the door at 3 A.M., just being kind, asking if we knew our garage door was open.

Now they have bears in their yard every now and then, and a couple of alligator denizens of the lake. Much nicer.

There are times when you are sooooooo glad to be living out in the country and today was one.
About 3 this afternoon I noticed we were having problems with our well. The pressure was down, the water stream out of the faucet was surging and the pump was sending the well cap bouncing. I called the guy who services the well and tank system at home (yes, he gives customers his cell and home number) and was hoping he could come out early nextvweek…no, he said, I’ll be right over. Be right over as in he’s getting in his truck as we speak. Ah well, I thought, an extra charge for weekend work but what the hey, I gotta make sure we have water.
It’s about twenty minute drive from his place to here, he shows up, works on the tank and plumbing for about 45 minutes and – viola – I hsve even better water pressure/flow than I had before.
Cones time to write the check… $65, his regular fee. No extra charge as it’s a weekend, he is happy to have customers who think enough of him to call. And yes, he can fish on my lake anytime and even use my boat.

We don’t whack very many tourists at all, it’s mostly locals thinning the ranks of the undersirables – the precious few tourists who are savaged are usually on unauthorized safaris into the city’s more feral areas.
Remind me a while before y’all come and I’ll check with my contacts to see if there are any areas of special interest.

Now we have three state-of-the-science ERs at the LSU hospital downtown so we can save about half of the thug victims shot/stabbed/bludgeoned/whatever that would have been lost before. Ain’t science wunnerful?
