When wilt thou save the people?
    Oh God of mercy when?

    Flowers of thy heart
    O God are they
Let them not pass like weeds away

Not kings and lords but nations,
    Not thrones and crowns
    But men

    God save the people
    Shall crime bring crime forever
    Strength aiding still the strong?

Is it thy will, O Father
    That men shall toil
    For wrong?

    Oh, no, say thy mountains
    No, say thy skies
Man’s clouded sun shall brightly rise
And songs be heard instead of sighs
    God save the people!

    Oh, God save the people
    For thine they are
Thy children as thy angels fair
    Save the people
    From despair
    God save the people!

New Orleans City Council is cobsidering a new ordinance that would require every developer building new residences in ‘desireable’ areas in town to devote 12% of said residential soacevto subdidized housing.
The proposal is by a local Prog NGO which deals with how to get the nonproductive into housing paid for by someone else. As NOLA’s become a party paradise housing prices have skyrocketed. A lot of that’s due to flood insurance being sky-high post-K and financing agencies refusing to finance any construction without full flood insurance on the property.
Post-K much of the old projects were torn down and replaced with modern ‘multi-income’ housing that had a percentage dedicated to subsidized housing. Now these subsidized units are starting to hit a provision built into their funding that, ten years after they were built, the subsidized units would revert to market price. The residents, unable to secure gainful employment in the last ten years (no doubt due to the evil machinations of Da Man), are facing homelessness.
We are being treated to the usual litany of ‘it ain’t their fault’ excuses, Hizzonnah Da Mayor is bemoaning the lack of educational and well-paying jobs in the Usual Community, local Usual Fed Reps are using codewords to blame it on Trump, and the little birdies are sitting by wondering when the next morsels will be dropped into their open beaks.
The city fathers are desperate to stuff projectees into ‘desirable’ neighborhoods (not the ones they live in of course) so that the folks who’ve been paying for the subsidizees’ food, education, medication, clothes, rent, you name it, for decades can pay to see the fruits of their labors smack in the back or side yard.
Stupidity is best viewed from afar.

Some say “God” might reside in a computer…the Deus ex Machina. Among those individuals are those divining climate with computer-based general circulation models. This has generated a belief system to the effect that all variables that drive global climate at all time scales have been identified, that they have been quantified as to individual contribution and interactions, and that chaotic variability is foreseeable. At the current state of scientific knowledge, such belief is intellectual hubris masquerading as achieved scientific endeavor.

Makes me want to start fiddling around with Fractint and Winfract again. Nothing shows the truth of chaos theory (sensitive dependence upon initial conditions), and the hubris of these folks, like changing one variable in the formula by .0002 and seeing the difference in the final resulting image. Fractals were my hobby when I was 20 and only had an Intel 486 SX. Its why I can understand this blather.

  10. Maxine Waters:

This 13-term Beltway swamp queen from California and past chair of the Congressional Black Caucus walked away with a slap on the wrist from the toothless House Ethics Committee in 2012 after being charged with multiple ethics violations related to her meddling in minority-owned OneUnited Bank.

The banks’ executives donated $12,500 to Mad Maxine’s congressional campaigns. Her husband, Sidney Williams, was an investor in one of the banks that merged into OneUnited. As stockholders, they profited handsomely from their relationship with the bank.

And vice versa. After Waters’ office personally intervened and lobbied the Treasury Department in 2008, the financial institution received $12 million in federal TARP bailout money — despite another government agency concluding that the bank operated “without effective underwriting standards” and engaged “in speculative investment practices.” Top bank executive Kevin Cohee squandered money on a company-financed Porsche and a Santa Monica, California, beachfront mansion. After the federal bailout of Fannie/Freddie, OneUnited’s stock in the government-sponsored enterprises plunged to a value estimated at less than $5 million. Only through Waters’ intervention was OneUnited able to secure an emergency meeting with the Treasury and its then-Secretary Henry Paulson.

Waters’ government cronyism earned her a “Most Corrupt member of Congress” designation from the left-wing Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington.

Is James O’Keefe About To Smoke CNN? Tells Hannity He’s Set To Release “Hundreds of Hours” Of Newsroom Footage “Wikileaks Style”

    http://www.zerohedge.com/news/2017-02-21/james-okeefe-about-smoke-cnn-tells-hannity-hes-set-release-hundreds-hours-newsroom-f

James O’Keefe of Project Veritas is set to unleash holy hell Thursday on #FakeNews network CNN. Well, he didn’t exactly say it was CNN, but it was heavily implied. Apparently the network has a mole…

O’Keefe is known for undercover sting operations which have led to such bombshells as the DNC’s paid agitator network, the outing of “DisruptJ20” / Antifa organizers which took place at comet ping pong – and netted three arrests (including a suspected pedophile), and most recently New Hampshire election fraud.

Yesterday, O’Keefe was interviewed on Sean Hannity’s radio show where he revealed that a major network has been “stung”

I understand Stefan’s points, and many are valid. Others not so much. “Young boy” could refer to a late teen-aged homosexual. The term “boys” is very common among gay men. Not to digress too far, I met the CTH group at a gay man’s blog – hillbuzz.org. He talked about the “boys” or “boyz” all the time.

Questions – were these video/audio tapes recorded several years ago?
Is it possible that Milo may have changed his point of view somewhat since then?
Was some of it bravado? Was some of it the result of coping with early sexual molestation?

I think Stefan parses words a bit thinly also, such as making a distinction between the phrases “lost my virginity” (which would be the common phrase), and “had my virginity taken”. Another was “taking drugs”, and “being fed drugs” (or something like that).

I agree with everything you said. I argued some of the same points when the allegations against Milo first came out.

Where I strongly agree with Stefan are two points. Milo is giving mixed messages to teens who are being sexually abused while encouraging the mind set of abusers that their victims really enjoy what is happening and Milo should turn in the priest who abused him.
As to the men at parties and “very young boys” I find that phrase disturbing. One of my best friends was a gay man, he was the “boy” in relationships as he was young and petite, he was not a minor but people in his circle referred to young men as boys. Making the distinction of “very young boys” is to me disturbing.

If Milo is so emotionally unbalanced to believe that he was the predator at age 13 I do not know that he would have as a teenager or young twenty something seen other very young boys (teenagers) as victims.

I stand behind Milo and see this attack as one against who Milo is rather than an attack against him supporting pedophiles. I think Milo is damaged and has put that damage out of his mind in order to succeed at life. He is a force to be reckoned with against the Leftist because of the followers he is taking away from them but more importantly Milo is a danger because he is making a younger, hipper, more liberal audience think for the first time in their lives rather than simply put on pussy hats and call themselves virtuous.

All we need to do is look at people who really did make pedophile friendly remarks who are given a free pass in order to know exactly what is happening here.

CPAC was the last straw. The Establishment Right could not have Milo legitimized by being the keynote speaker with Trump and Pence present at the gathering. That would have given Milo too much power.

You and I agree. I would add only one other thing here. The positive comments Milo made about the priest took place in the videos/audios, which were recorded I don’t know when, or the circumstances. The comments about the very young boys took place yesterday.

The Father Dave comment was within the last two years on a radio talk show. I can’t recall the name of the show.

Milo is by nature very flippant and it was likely a flippant remark to be his provocative self, the statement also in his mind neutralized Milo from making himself look weak.

    From a friend on Facebook:

“Milo, like his book, for which I hope he finds a publisher, is Dangerous. He is dangerous because he know things, things most people would rather pretend don’t exist, things we know only indirectly by reading such books as “City of Night” or “The Thief’s Journal”. He is a kind of swamp creature who has come up out of the mire and speaks to us of danger, He says things we know are true but fear to acknowledge. He warns us against the darkness, a darkness he knows so well, oozing up to infect our politics, personal and business relations, previously sunlit areas of our lives. He speaks the truth without mercy and mercilessly has the Left brought him down, aided by the fear of conservatives who prefer to think that the dark cannot invade their sunlit world.

“But it can and it has. Berkeley was one more installment of our slow motion kristallnacht, and now it has drawn the blood of its target instead of merely that of hapless motorists in the wrong place at the wrong time.

“I have reviewed the transcripts of the video used against him and while it is difficult to watch and to contemplate, It is clear he did not advocate pedophilia, as has been claimed by his detractors. He didn’t even advocate ephebophilia but explained the rationale for it too clearly for the squeamish. People who wrestle with monsters can be mistaken for monsters themselves — and can be easily characterized as monsters by the enemy — but Milo is not a monster, he is a messenger who has brought a message we do not want to hear. And you know what happens to messengers who bring unwelcome warnings.

“I don’t know how Milo can extricate himself from this but I hope he does. If he cannot, the next target is Bannon and after Bannon, Trump.”

The copy, maybe not so much, I’ll agree.

Drudge has the headline for USA Today’s version, so I decided to look up the story on DM, since USA Today only showed us a mere two photos. I wasn’t disappointed. I’m not even an Apple fan. Can’t stand the company, and most of their worshippers. But it’s a cool-as-heck building, and the article was about said building, and USAT could only deign to give us two pictures. They’re a joke of a provider of information.

DM’s hurricane Katrina coverage was top-notch, compared to ANY media outlet in this country. No newspaper site in this country covered Martin/Zimmerman as well as DM did. At least DM tries to be full-coverage, despite flaws. No American news site even pretends to provide full coverage, not even then, and especially not now. It’s all about the narrative. DM has no competition on this side of the pond.

The guy I work with who asked me if I was “a Chr… a Believer?” on my first day at work, who is a server, and has several degrees in biology, he’s a cool dude. He said then, “We’re gonna have some great conversations about that!”

He asked me yesterday again about it. I said, “We’re not ever going to have an argument about the veracity of the Bible, or of Christ, or of Christianity. Watch me work, and you have. My command is to love everyone, actively — and you see that. If I ever stop doing that, tell me.”

My golden tongue is never going to convince him that what I believe about the Bible is true. It’s why I quit arguing with folks about religion, politics, or society.

    God willing, my actions will.

This dude only works two or so days a week. Super intelligent guy. Both his feet are broken. Why? Because he has such bad seizures that his feet curl up so hard that they break bones in them. I saw them, with his socks off. He showed me. Both feet, broken and swollen. He can no longer drive a car. He used to fly small planes. I prayed for him last night. I hope you folks do the same.

He remains cheerful, outwardly. You have to be, when you’re a server at a high-end restaurant.

He needs evidence that God can do anything. I’m evidence. Me.

    Yesterday he said, “Remember me.”

I said, “George Carlin said that Christians often say ‘God can throw a boat over a fence!’ — God can heal the blind, the deaf, the dumb, the leprous, and even the epileptic.”

I wish I knew but two other Christians at work, to pray over this man.

We’re outta here, though. Have fun! Don’t forget to write!

(As soon as you invent radio, about 3,000 years from now.)

That was tongue-in-cheek. Not going to happen.

I realize that civilized people are never going to invent faster-than-light travel.

We’re too busy working so that the money that could be used to finance this is all spent on importing and maintaining people who want to kill civilized people and destroy all their accrued knowledge.

It’s just a fun thought experiment, now. Until it’s no longer legal to even do that.

      Very odd.

“It was my great privilege to serve…” — Pence

“Last night in Sweden…” — PDT …and then, the next night, in Sweden…

I hope Trump is made safe. They seem a day early with their statements.

Not so odd. Made to sound odd (Remember what we talked about earlier?)

First, it isn’t clear if the word spoken is “was”. Even if it is crystal clear, what does it mean?

“Let me say it __ my great privilege to serve as Vice President for the 45th President of the United States. And the President directed me to go to Munich and to come here to Brussels with a very specific message. To go to Munich to the Munich security conference and make it very clear, as I do so again today at NATO’s headquarters, that the United States is expressing strong support for NATO, even as we challenge NATO and we challenge our allies to evolve to the new and widening challenges and further meet their responsibilities, uh, in this ever changing, ever complicated world of threats. With regard to the EU, the President also directed me to come here to Brussels and I had the great privilege of meeting with leaders of the European Union throughout the morning and, uh, to express the desire of the United States to continue, continue cooperation and partnership with the European Union. We respect the determination of the people of Great Britain, uh, as manifested in BREXIT, and we respect the judgement of the peoples of Europe in the European Union, and uh, as I said today through many leaders, we look forward to working, uh, across the channel with all parties in the years ahead on behalf (I think) of peace and prosperity.”

Keep in mind he is speaking off the cuff here. Even if the word is “was”, it is easy to understand that he may have meant to use the word “is”. Either that, or the word he used was “is”. [INSERT ADD: I can imagine he was thinking, ‘I was privileged to become Vice President and serve the 45th President …’ I’m a visual thinker, and can imagine that I saw in my mind the day I was sworn in as VP.] I think it is preposterous to insinuate that the VP is disloyal to the President. Unnecessarily so. Now, I said it, and I swore I wouldn’t. I disagree wholeheartedly with the post, and I HATE conspiracy theories – especially ones that hang on a thread, like this one does. Here’s the video:

Many of the comments were also…unsettling. How many proto-moonbats frequent next door?

I barely recognize the comment section these days. I rarely read them, and when I do I get into trouble by challenging one of the moonbats.

One of the best lessons I’ve learned from being on twitter is not to challenge anyone who seems unhinged, or even hints at being unhinged. Or has a tendency to be belligerent, or who stoops to ad hominem responses. I’ve learned the value of ignoring.

Most of the time that’s true. As an admin, sometimes I can’t ignore things. Like the other day, somebody called Michelle Obama “an ape in heels”. I said something, and I think it was (eventually) understood. We can’t let statements like that stand unchallenged. Either that, or delete.

Understood. As an admin, you can’t ignore some things. But as I’m not, I can.

You represent more than just yourself, stella. AND it’s in the context of a large discussion (group input on a single thread). In the one-on-one’s on twitter, if someone starts attacking me, I state/restate my position as clearly as possible and/or just withdraw from the discussion. Attacking back is generally a mistake; virtually nothing is accomplished in twitter wars (although there have been the occasional exceptions).

I listened several times. The way I took it was the use of the word in its classic past tense meaning. He had done something, it was completed, and therefore he used the word was.
