    Happy Valentine’s Day…
My friends’ community is having a dinner dance. They keep these events at a very reasonable cost, $15 per person, so that even seniors with a limited income can attend…There will be a band, and a sit down dinner… so it is a real bargain. BYOB, or you can buy wine or beer, cheap. And it is not just couples, which is also really nice. A couple of our friends are widows, and they have a lot of support in this community, everyone is more like an extended family. Rides, help around the house, little things like that, they really take care of one another…

She’s doing good, eating like a little pig. She’s eating 3 to 4 ounces every 2 to 3 hours.
I’ve never seen a newborn grab things like she does. She grabs your hair, grabs her bottle and she makes it difficult to change her clothes because she grabs the inside of the sleeves.
She likes to lay on her side and will roll from her back to her side. I put her on her stomach to see what she’d do and she rolled to her back then back to her side. My daughter recorded it because she said nobody would believe her. lol

She’s got to go to the doctor this morning and have her bilirubin checked. It was at 9 when she left the hospital. My non-professional opinion says it’s much better now, she was a little yellow on her face and neck, but I don’t see any yellow now.

My son grabbed things, too. When we handed him to my father, we had to be sure to take my father’s pencil out of his pocket first, because my son would grab it.

My son had a little problem with his bilirubin, too and they wanted to keep him in the hospital when they discharged me. I made such a fuss and threatened to stay in the nursery waiting room until he was released, so they finally called my pediatrician and then released him.

When my kids were babies at 10 they kept them, but now 9 to 12 they want them rechecked in a few days and only put them under a light if it gets to 13. Anything above 14 they check the mothers blood for compatibility.

I breastfed my babies so all of them had a little jaundice, sunlight and sugar water always did the trick.

I believe my son was at 12. When they called his pediatrician, they were told to send him home and have me bring him in to the office the next day for a check. When I did, the doc took one look at him and said he is fine.

After our experience with Conner and his heart problems, my non professional opinion is that doctors should pay a little more attention to grandparents. Sometimes they are right and doctor’s are wrong. Certainly not because of medical knowledge, but because of having a whole lifetime of experience with kids, and getting to spend a lot more time with the babies, and possibly having the opportunity to observe things that aren’t noticed in a few minutes long exam. Just my opinion.

I love the pediatrician my daughter uses, he’s older and he does listen.
With my grandson he didn’t argue with her about him being allergic to milk because he said with his uncle being allergic and grandma saying the symptoms were the same they were putting him on special milk.
He did say if it didn’t stop they would check him for some kind of stomach problem that required surgery, but the milk change worked.

It truly upsets my son and daughter in law that I don’t trust their pediatrician. I don’t say a lot about it, but they know I have no confidence in her. Sorry. Conner was in NICU four of five days, then sent home. She examined him the next day, then a week later, then at three weeks when I went along to absolutely insist he had something really wrong I didn’t have to because the nurse immediately went to get the doctor right then.

The poor little guy had purple feet and could barely nurse and not for long. She initially said he had a heart murmur. When a baby can’t suck and has other symptoms like the feet, it does not take a doctor to add two plus two and get four. Plus, they never explained why his heart rate was so high, which was why he was in NICU. They said he had “air outside his lungs” later saying a collapsed lung which scared the crap of out my son and DIL. Sounds a lot worse, huh? Why send an infant home after that without knowing the WHY behind it? I knew from the moment they sent him home that he was most certainly not okay.

I felt that away about the hospital my daughter used, I didn’t like it from the get go, but it wasn’t my choice.
If she would have let me do what I wanted, I guarantee she wouldn’t have suffered for as long as she did.

I do like the kids’ pediatrician though and kind of helped find him when my grandson was born. He has another pediatrician in the office with him that I don’t trust though. I don’t like it when he’s gone and my grandson has to see her. My daughter is always telling me she doesn’t understand why I have such a problem with her.
I always tell her I’ve been around a long time and it doesn’t take me but about 5 minutes to know when they don’t know their butts from a hole in the ground. Experience with a lot of bad doctors has made them easy to spot.

Little Gracie got a clean bill of health today. He didn’t bother with even checking her blood, so not to put her through it because he agreed with Nanny her color is great.

She lost what sounded to me like a lot of weight but then mine were only weighed when they left the hospital and never went back to the doctor until 2 weeks.

She’s down to 6 lbs 7 oz, but he said that he doesn’t worry unless it’s over 12 oz they lose or more than 10% of their birth weight.
He was very impressed with how much she’s eating and says eating like that he expects she’ll be over her birth weight at 2 weeks.
She’s a little piggy like her mama was. Her mama weighed over 13 lbs at her 6 weeks checkup after weighing 6 lbs 10.5 oz at birth.

Is it the newborn jaundice? My ladt son had that, along with the other issues, and the old nurse at the hospital took the fairly new hospitalist/GP who was handling our pregnancy and told him that as long as the ither signs were OK the old tried-and-true was to take the baby and put its lil’ buck nekked self out in the sun for some time each day. Doc said they now had hi-tech multi-spectral lighting in a closed tempersture-controlled environment. Old nurse said that the only reason they did that was the billing department couldn’t figure how to bill for sunlight.

    Okay here’s another smile……..

    Jewish Quarterback

The coach had put together the perfect team for the Chicago Bears.
The only thing that was missing was a good quarterback. He had scouted all
    the
colleges and even the Canadian and European Leagues, but he couldn’t find a
ringer who could ensure a Super Bowl win.
Then one night while watching CNN he saw a war-zone scene in the West Bank .
In one corner of the background, he spotted a young Israeli soldier with a
truly incredible arm. He threw a hand-grenade straight into a 15th story
    window 100 yards away.

    KABOOM!

He threw another hand-grenade 75 yards away, right into a chimney.

    KA- BLOOEY!

Then he threw another at a passing car going 90 mph.

    BULLS-EYE!

“I’ve got to get this guy!” Coach said to himself. “He has the perfect arm!”

So, he brings him to the States and teaches him the great game of football.
And the Bears go on to win the Super Bowl.

The young man is hailed as the great hero of football, and when the coach
asks him what he wants, all the young man wants is to call his mother.

“Mom,” he says into the phone, “I just won the Super Bowl!”
“I don’t want to talk to you, the old woman says.”You are not my son!”
“I don’t think you understand, Mother,” the young man pleads. “I’ve won the
greatest sporting event in the world. I’m here among thousands of my adoring
    fans.”

“No! Let me tell you!” his mother retorts. “At this very moment, there are
gunshots all around us. The neighborhood is a pile of rubble. Your two
brothers were beaten within an inch of their lives last week, and I have to
keep your sister in the house so she doesn’t get raped!” The old lady
    pauses, and then tearfully says,……….
“I will never forgive you for making us move to Chicago !!!”

From word going around we shouldn’t be surprised if a plane lands in DC or NY with Snowden on board, gift wrapped and boxed. There are a lot of shades to this. They combined or individually may have had knowledge but the actual attribution of authenticity by a direct user cements their suspicions. You can never have enough confirmation.
He may well have, considering the size of the intel trove he downloaded, have given them things they didn’t know, that filled in blanks or corected guesstimates that were wrong to some degree. There were also indicators, direct or indirect, to methods and sources, two hot button areas.
Then it brought the attention of the American public to the fact that its own government was illegally spying on it. The profuse denials by the government and creative explainations by Federal spinners on how they weren’t really doing anything wrong and, even if they were, it was for our own good’ didn’t quite sit easy on thebpublic. The sudden move from there to how ‘ innocent people really shouldn’t mind as they shouldn’t have anything to hide’ wasn’t much better.
Snowden’s pissed off a lot of people for a lot of different reasons.

No, I thought your post was in line with my answer. I was just trying to say that most people think the Russians jumped on this like the info came from a burning bush. Many intel agencies had lots of the info but there was no official attribution to its validity. Just because someone picks up a nugget of intel doesn’t mean the finders swallow it, they vett it and compare it to intel from other sources to see if they all float.
Snowden will be charged with the unauthorized release of classified materials, not what level of classification. The damage from the level of classification will come in on the sentencing phase, though they will also use it to pressure the jury to find him guilty. He may have gilled in some blanks but I’m betting most of his stuff was just confirming things they already knew.
To me, Snowden’s bigfest problem is the folks he pissed off. There are some agencies with memories like elephants and no sense humor…a bad combination when you’re locked on a room and don’t have a key.
