Interesting day.
I’m filing fir a VA disability and had to call and ask their call center a technical auestion about the process. Imagine my surprise when I got a phone rep with an accent that made me think I’d accidentally connected with one of those ‘Canadian’ pharmacies that cold call trying to sell you drugs.
I’m not talking the Indian accent that someone who’s been here a long time has, oh no, this was obe-foot-still-on-the-boat thick. The kind of accent where were one to use it on a TV program you’d be accused of promulgating racist stereotypes. Not only that but he had difficulty understanding me and had to ask the same questions over and over. I finally just hung up.
Each time I call the VA I chat with the rep while they’re calling my file up and I ask casually if the phone rep’s a vet. Out of the many times I’ve called I have had no more than two say they were. That’s bad enough, but when you hire someobe who can’t speak or understand the language well enough to do the job while vets are living on the streets homeless, welllll……
I called my Senator’s office and they agrred but said the VA balks at hiring vets and there’s not much Congress can do about it?????
My Fed rep’s office was far more concerned as the rep’s stoll in the Guard himself. We’ll see if anything comes of this but I’m getting deeper into the VA bureaucracy than I hsve in decades and it looks like I’m going to have to hire one of those law firms that specialize in VA cases.

No excuse for the VA to be hiring off shore customer service people.

Just to be clear, this was a VA call center in the US, what they hired was an immigrant with poor English skills instead of a vet who needed a job. VA is very proud of their EEO, gender, Federally protected group hiring numbers. That killing vets through ignoring their needs thing is jes a small side thang.

How can you be sure that he was in a US call center? Calls can be directed anywhere in the world very easily.

Yep, businesses are very good at it.

I gave up on my previous doctor because, even though he was Cuban, he had very little accent. However, all of his office staff had such thick accents I could hardly understand them, and they also had fairly quick tempers about it.

Not sure how you would feel about doing this but if you have an organization within a 5 hour drive that is not affiliated with the government but set up to help vets I would go to them and have them help you fill out the paper work and state your case.
This has nothing to do with your competence or your deserving VA disability payments. It is all about knowing how the VA wants its i’s dotted and t’s crossed. VA organizations set up outside the government are experts at this.
In the same vein Social Security disability benefits are denied something like 90% of the time on the first application, we have a non-profit, non-government affiliated organization here which flips the tables to 10% denial on the first try, it is all about ticking the right boxes and using the right words.

Czar, all claims are filed on line, (new), also go to your county Veterans Affairs Office courthouse, they have the process. Now I do the same thing every time I’m at the VA, “hey you a Vet” out of 100 people maybe one or two, and out of those one is mopping the floor. It’s disgraceful, just disgusting. Not like the old days, when WW2 Vets ran the VA. Also find a lawyer who handles VA claims. You don’t pay, the VA pays for the lawyer on percentage of claim amount awarded.
Fight those Bastorids……….

I am going thru county Veterans Service Officer, she’s also been doing this since the War of 1812 so she’s got the experience and the contacts. Yep, I know they can be filed on line but you need internet for that and I’m in that hole. I prefer paper, which I duplicate and send certified so I have proof of mailing and receipt. Doesn’t matter that the signature’s the mailroom, it shows a person responsible for, and authorized to, receive that mail did so. All I am responsible for is getting into the building.
Not much has changed in the VA over the last almost 45 years I’ve been ‘working’ with them, unless you count crappier staff and they’ve be pne better at abusing and killing the people they were created to serve. Considering the numbers thry kill and the efficiency they have in doing it you’d think they would have an internal medal for that. And another for irony in killing vets who’d survived combst with declared enemies of the country.

Thanks, but we have our state VA servicecrep who’s very experienced and I have a law firm that specializes in VA work on tap. I’m through with them, through fighting with Congress who, for whatever reasons, has knowingly allowed them to savage vets for over a century.

Look folks, just sticking to his records with Vietnam POW issues, ignoring those from WWII and Korean War POWs, there are questions.
The hospital at Hickam had beds set up for injured VN POWs by name, injured POWs accounted for by name by the US, Red Cross an NVN…they never got on the plane.
A NV defector with direct knowledge of US POWs testified endlessly but the Senators didn’t believe him, even after direct proof of POW remains the NVN wouldn’t admit to were found.
The DIA spent more effort trying to disprove the existance of US POWs than thry did trying to find them. As late as 1997 a soldier in an international class at the DIA was strongly cautioned about the inadvisability of questioning official US VN POW policy even while the Agency had a huge VN PIW display in its lobby.
McCain wasn’t alone in tossing the POWs to the political wolves, it was a class action, but he should have, amongst them all, been the one with the balls to say “ENOUGH!”. Gurss that battle between money, power and a bunch of Joes most will forget about in a few years isn’t all thst hard of one to fight.

This ain’t good. I finally got home to the Hillz last night, went to bed at a normal time and woke up at 4:30 this morning. Not happy about that. Must be the howlin’ wolves and clean air. So, when you get up that early, you find goofy stuff on the interwebz. And I found this – pro hoopster gets a triple-double without one of them being double figures in points. First player in history of NBA to do it this way. 😆 😆
BTW, working on protonbucket and gettin’ the coffee fired up. I’m gonna need it getting up this early on Saturday.

me too, re the dogs….they have an absolute timeclock habit that does not include sleeping in on odd days of the week….mine are polite…up to the point that fifteen minutes past their 6 AM potty and feeding time hits…then the whining starts…followed up with more vocalism if not attended to…frankly, I am crazy enough about them that I don’t mind, and as an old fert, I don’t NEED so much sleep, and anyway, there is that important human potty morning call so it is all OK. My dogs make me laugh…not so the news or the folks so much anymore. woof woof.

I’ve forgotten what it’s like to get a good night sleep. At least though I’ve been getting out of chores. My son has been coming and helping out when we can’t and this morning since someone had to stay with the little guy so he’ll sleep in, hubby and son are out doing them. It of course didn’t stop me from waking at my usual 5 a.m.
I’m not about to wake the little guy up until he wakes up on his own, he cried himself to sleep last night and I promised him as soon as he woke up we’d take him to see his Mama. I’m hoping the second night will be easier for him.

Sorry you didn’t get to sleep in. My grandson “slept” over last Sunday night because my DD needed a break. No sleep at all for me and little man had a tough night not being in his house and baby bed. Those little guys have it hard when the routine changes.
Is your grandson excited about being a big brother? It’s nice that they aren’t too many years apart. I think it’s precious when girls have big brothers looking out for them.
I hope that y’all can get some rest soon. So many happy and exciting days ahead, though. I’m so happy for your family and Gracie is the sweetest name. 😊

I note that Hizzonnuh the mayor, who shows up at nearly every thug shooting where there’s a news camera so that he can protest Guuuuuun Viollllllence didn’t show there. Most notably neither did the local BLM nor Mamas carrying the ‘end violence’ signs.

I guess this is why we have a first amendment, and why the nation is all balled up in sensitivities and factions. I read lots on here and elsewhere that is not all that funny, but it does not offend me….lots of difference is being “offended” and being “insulted”. that was my point here. Seems kinda like a gangup of sensitivities…I apologized already. Even my Grandmother, God rest her soul, would have accepted that….and she was Scots Irish Presbyterian with NO sense of humor but lots of criticism for the kids…..we survived and loved her anyway.

Also, CNN continues to present “alternate facts.” How much longer do they think they can get away with this? And is there anyone left that they think they’re fooling?

I would not be surprised if she wore flats out of consideration for Mrs. Abe.
I read a news story some time back where the journalist interviewed Mr. Trump’s butler. The butler said Trump’s former wife was not a nice person, but that Melania is kind and considerate to all, a genuine sweetheart.

I wonder if the butler meant the first or second ex-wife. 😕

mom, the butler was talking about Ms Marla Maples, the second Mrs. Trump. The Butler, in the genteel manner that good butlers possess, totally trashed Marla…I am not a fan of Miss Marla and I have a mean streak which may explain why I remember the interview. It was a hoot.

I am not a fan of Miss Marla Maples either. Any woman who goes after another woman’s husband and throws it in her face is trash in my book. If that happened the way they both said it did, I have nothing good to say about her.

I like Donald Trump, but I must say that he had something to do with this too. His adultery can’t just be explained away, and all the blame put on the woman. At least she was single. He was not.

Oh, I am not letting him off the hook. But, I believe she planned it all out. I even think getting pregnant was a part of the plan.

Nevertheless, he was a married man, living the high life in New York. Donald Trump wasn’t taken in – he was looking for it. The woman is always the one who gets the blame; that’s all I’m saying.

Stella, I am not criticizing her so much for the affair as I am for the way she treated Ivana. That was inexcusable to me.

I just saw on FOX and FRIENDS that Tim Teboe’s foundation for special needs kids had a prom for them in Jacksonville, FL. Isn’t he just the sweetest guy? He showed up and surprised them. I really think he would be a good catch.

He’s so humble, too. Good guy.

Ben Shapiro, great guy. Owns liberal kiddos. Still gets carded for liquor.

I was reading Ben Shapiro’s columns in newspapers more than 20 years ago.
I think he is in possession of Sauron’s One Ring, because he doesn’t visibly age.
If, in another 20 years, he still looks this young, he gets the Dick Clark award.
The man has a lot of courage, engaging these people… when they allow it.

That was a good clip, Wooly, thanks for posting it. Shapiro does a great job destroying the snowflake’s arguments. I will admit that Shapiro does some things well, but I’ll never forget his outrageous vitriol as a NeverTrumper.

Bingo. I’ll always watch him carefully.

A very good post from MOTUS this morning on the *dangers* of AG Sessions:

I especially liked the chart on liberal fear-mongering:

Shoot. I hoped it would display the chart without having to click.

I don’t mind clicking the link. I used to read MOTUS quite a bit during O’s first term. That kind of stopped after O’s re-election when I quit blogging. I’m surprised (but glad!) MOTUS is still going, especially since Hope n’ Change closed.

I read MOTUS (but not comments, which are somewhat clickish) every day. Love her polished snark.

joshua, MOTUS–as amwick said–is an acronym for the Mirror Of The United States. MOTUS refers to a blog originally known as Michelle’s (Obama) Mirror. Since President Trump’s inauguration, the name was changed to MOTUS, AD (after Donald). The writer of the blog is a conservative woman who apparently is a Washington insider. She writes with wit and panache about goings on at the White House. The address is:

lilbirdee12’s prayer:
Our Heavenly Father, Your children come to you tonight to ask for healing and peace throughout our country so that we may return to being One Nation Under God. Guide us to be leaders in Your Kingdom, spreading Your Love and Salvation to all. Forgive us our sins and deliver us from evil.
Lord, we ask for a blanket of protection over all our troops and law enforcement who serve to defend and protect us. Bless our representatives with the strength and wisdom they need to achieve the path You have chosen for us.
Please place Your Guardian Angels of Protection around Donald Trump and Mike Pence and their families as they seek to lead America back to You.
Grant us patience, Lord, as the evil ones try to anger us and cause us to fall.
Spread blessings over Israel and Netanyahu.
We humbly ask that You please comfort those who are grieving and in pain.
Thank you Father, for Your Love and the gift of Life.
In Jesus name, we pray. Amen
