I read about it a day earlier in the local business journal. Howard Schultz sent out a company-wide letter, of which I can only find snippets of. This should not be a huge surprise since he was a Clinton supporter.

“We are living in an unprecedented time, one in which we are witness to the conscience of our country, and the promise of the American Dream, being called into question,”

“These uncertain times call for different measures and communication tools than we have used in the past. Kevin and I are going to accelerate our commitment to communicating with you more frequently, including leveraging new technology platforms moving forward. I am hearing the alarm you all are sounding that the civility and human rights we have all taken for granted for so long are under attack, and want to use a faster, more immediate form of communication to engage with you on matters that concern us all as partners.”

“We have a long history of hiring young people looking for opportunities and a pathway to a new life around the world. This is why we are doubling down on this commitment by working with our equity market employees as well as joint venture and licensed market partners in a concerted effort to welcome and seek opportunities for those fleeing war, violence, persecution and discrimination,”

“There are more than 65 million citizens of the world recognized as refugees by the United Nations, and we are developing plans to hire 10,000 of them over five years in the 75 countries around the world where Starbucks does business. And we will start this effort here in the U.S. by making the initial focus of our hiring efforts on those individuals who have served with U.S. troops as interpreters and support personnel in the various countries where our military has asked for such support.”

“We have been open for business in Mexico since 2002, and have since opened 600 stores in 60 cities across the country, which together employ over 7,000 Mexican partners who proudly wear the green apron. We have sourced coffee from Mexico’s producers and their families for three decades and last fall, we also announced the creation of a farmer support center in Chiapas to help accelerate our collective ability to grow and export some of the world’s finest coffees from this important growing region, while donating more than $2 million to support the livelihood, food security and water quality of coffee producing communities in Oaxaca,”

“With the support of thousands of Starbucks partners and millions of customers, we have also donated half a million coffee trees to support 70,000 families, and we will be expanding the initiative this year to generate another 4 million tree donations. Coffee is what unites our common heritage, and as I told Alberto Torrado, the leader of our partnership with Alsea in Mexico, we stand ready to help and support our Mexican customers, partners and their families as they navigate what impact proposed trade sanctions, immigration restrictions and taxes might have on their business and their trust of Americans. But we will continue to invest in this critically important market all the same.”

  10. I don’t what kind of weekend everyone else had but I’ll admit mine was a little rough dealing with the Usual Suspects on Twitter with their weeping and gnashing of teeth over Trump’s “Muslim Ban.”

I antagonized one liberal so badly he went back to my Twitter page and started looking at my Tweets. (Tee hee!)

I don’t always get called a “mere bigot” but when I do, a liberal has just discovered what the Koran actually says, rather then what the media told him it said. >:D

    http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-4170500/Five-dead-GUNMEN-open-fire-Mosque-Quebec-City.html

Witnesses told how the gunmen burst into the mosque dressed in black waterproof jackets shouting ‘Allahu akbar’ at around 8pm.

One man who tried to stop them was shot in the face, Hamid Nadji told 24hours. One of the gunmen left the building twice to reload his weapon, he added.

Most of those inside the building were men praying on the ground floor while women and children were upstairs.

Anyone who is fighting the good fight about Steve Bannon being added to the National Security Council: Steve Bannon has a master’s degree in National Security Studies from Georgetown University School of Foreign Service, and was a Naval officer for seven years, serving on the destroyer USS Paul F. Foster as a Surface Warfare Officer in the Pacific Fleet and stateside as a special assistant to the Chief of Naval Operations at the Pentagon. Hardly a no-nothing regarding National Security.

Here is additional info; a reply on FB asking me to defend Bannon’s appointment to the NSC (in addition to the education and Naval service of Bannon):

No need to defend Steve Bannon, based upon his education and Naval Service.

Compare him to Rahm Emanuel, who served on the NSC under Barack Obama. Here is his CV, in part:

“He won a scholarship to the Joffrey Ballet, but turned it down to attend Sarah Lawrence College, a liberal arts school with a strong dance program. While an undergraduate, Emanuel was elected to the Sarah Lawrence Student Senate. He graduated from Sarah Lawrence in 1981 with a Bachelor of Arts in Liberal Arts, and went on to receive a Master of Arts in Speech and Communication from Northwestern University in 1985.”

Fake News, Failed States and “America First”

    Very interesting! Article closes with:

Something went sour in American public life a century ago when mainline Protestantism embraced Walter Rauschenberg’s “Social Gospel” and Woodrow Wilson declared that it was America’s responsibility to make the world safe for democracy. Rather than the exceptionalism of the Puritan founders and Abraham Lincoln, who saw Americans as an “almost chosen people” set apart from the Old World, Wilsonian liberalism styled the elite as little gods on earth whose job it was to remake the world in our image. Sadly, a red thread connects Wilson with George W. Bush’s failed Freedom Agenda.

Most Americans have had enough of this. We elected Donald Trump to protect us. His promise to halt Muslim immigration was the turning point in his campaign fortunes, and rightly so. To declare that we will no longer bear the burdens of failed states, though, is to tell the elite that they are not an elite at all–they simply are unemployed. And it tells liberals that their secular path to salvation is shut down for the duration.

“I haven’t had so much fun since the hogs ate my kid brother,” said Dashiell Hammett’s Continental Op. Watching the liberals squeak and gibber is a treat. Enjoy the show, and don’t believe what you read in the papers.

Watching the noon news coverage of the SAG awards and the parade of ‘stars’ slamming Trump’s orders and snuggling up to the Moslem community. My solution is to send them to Syria and Iraq and let them directly confront the various fundamentalist groups, telling them that their interpretation of Islam is incorrect and that the sybaritic, atheistic, extravagant consumptive and self-indulgent lifestyle they follow allows them a clearer view of Islam. They’ll agree that an interim loss of innocent kafir life is acceptable in the pursuit of inclusiveness, just not their lives.

Catholics Ask Trump to Probe Soros-Obama-Clinton Conspiracy at Vatican

Did billionaire speculator George Soros, President Barack Obama, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, Vice President Joe Biden, and Obama/Clinton adviser John Podesta conspire to overthrow the conservative Pope Benedict XVI and replace him with a radical, Pope Francis? Did they use America’s intelligence agencies, and our nation’s diplomatic machinery, political muscle, and financial power to coerce and blackmail “regime change” in the Roman Catholic Church?

Far from being some wild conspiracy theory, there is sound prima facie evidence to indicate that this is a serious effort to expose a political scandal of the highest order, involving flagrant, criminal abuse of power at the top levels of the U.S. government. A group of respected Catholic lay leaders have sent a letter to President Donald Trump urging him to launch an official investigation into the activities of the above mentioned individuals (and others) who appear to have been involved in this alleged Vatican coup. They cite eight specific questions they seek to have answered concerning suspect events that led to the resignation of Pope Benedict, the first such papal abdication in 700 years.

More information about the National Security Council:

    National Security Council.

I will try to explain this once and for all.

President Trump reorganized the Principals Committee, which is a subset of the National Security Council. He added Steve Bannon to the Principals Committee, and withdrew invitations to the Principals Committee from the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff and Director of National Intelligence.

President Trump DID NOT remove these two people from the National Security Council; in fact, since they are there as a matter of statute, he cannot remove them.

On Jan. 30, 2017, at the Whitehouse Press Briefing, the Whitehouse Press Sec. further clarified the previous day’s announcement, stating “the President also signed a memorandum modernizing the structure of the National Security Council.” The two issues at hand are the make up of the NSC and that of the Principals Committee.

In regards to the Principals Committee, the Whitehouse Press Sec. said it is “the NSC minus the president. The idea is that the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff and the DNI being downgraded or removed is utter nonsense. They are at every NSC meeting and are welcome to attend the Principals Meeting as well. If there is a Principals meeting outside of their scope, for example, a homeland, domestic issue that doesn’t pertain to the military, they’re not required, but certainly welcome to be in attendance.”
