Wow! How big do they get? Can you hunt all year? Is the meat good or gamey? I would imagine they also wreak havoc on gardens.

Biggest boar was about 300 poubds, not an eater. Sows are running 120-150 pounds with piglets going 20-50. I have largely piglets in freezer.
We can hunt all year with any weapon as we’re landowners, they’re varmints, not game. Hunters on public land canhunt them year round but must use weapons appropriate to the game in season, so unless it’s deer season you are stuck with rimfire or shotguns but you can’t use slugs or buck. Supposed to prevent poachers from taking deerwhile sauing they were hog hunting.
They taste like whatever they are eating, I think they taste halfway between commercial pork and beef. I’ve also marinated them in mojo criollo and bitter orange for Cuban pork…works great. Big boars or older sows may be gamey but you can ice the meat down for a few days and much of it goes away. If that doesn’t work you throw the meat into the lake and fatten up the catfish.
Yeah, gardens are torn up. The main reason we went after them was they started tearing up the deer feed plots, they rooted up about 5 acres before we found them, they can do a1/4-acre a night. One or two hit my garden after the harvest and plowed it better than I could with a tiller. They are a pest, USDA estimates we have to kill 75% of those on a given plot just to maintain stasis.
Deer ate about 130 feet of my cabbage/collards/broccoli/cauliflower so I can get a permit to turn them into venison as an agricultural pest. Just another day in the non-big city.
You were away…count for pigs we took over last four months was 53 before the newbies showed up.

Not a problem, thousands of acres around me for them to flourish. I’m building a Texas feeder out of 4″ PVC with a cow bell on the end. With itvdtaked to the ground the pigs knock it around to get at the corn in it, ringing the bell. They get used to the sound, equate it with the corn and after a while you just ring a cow bell from your blind and they come arunnin’.

That’s call baiting in my AO, or State. I would do it!!!! Or let me confess I have done it!!!! Though this is a rural county, only a small percentage of folks hunt, for the antlers, too fill the freezer.
Right on in using the bell, my herd knew it was “corn” time when the tractor was started…..

We can do that with hogs, they are varmints and not game, they are ‘shoot on sight any time’. Baiting is not illegal, matter of fact it’s encouraged.
We feed deer year round, either by set feeders or planted plots, keeps the herd healthy. They also, as I’ve complained about, eat our crops and gardens…lotta baled hay in fields that become deer buffets. They eat our gardens, we eat them…all works out.

would this plan work on the Southern Border instead of a fence….just when they ring the bell we drone the illegals with tranquilizing vapor and go pick the up on the spot…add purple dye, and you get those that got away…..heck, you may have solved the interim border wall issue…..

I’ve been charged by piglets in the 20-pound range who could have run and had the larger ones try to get at me, instead of cowering, through the wire on the traps. Even commercial pig farmers are extemely careful when working in pens with lots of ‘domestic’ pigs. They are cute but they are food that will eat you, people forget they are omnivores.

I wasn’t talking about soneone with a smallishmoperation, Inwascreferring to latge commercial operations where you can have a hundred or more finishers in a large corral. You go in to do something, the pigs get startled or upset, you get swarmed as they riot and things get sideways real fast. These are pigs raised for market, not really handled, are not feral but aren’t Arnold either.
Coering as in bunched up in fear in the opposite corner of the trap. The traps are made out of panels of cattle fencing, some reinforced with chainlink fencing. They will charge you through the fence, tearing at it with their teeth. In one trap the boars tore up the wire in the traps floor forcing us to floor it with a solid piece of 3/4″ plywood. No cringing in the back or farthest corner for them.

I’d like Disney’s ground crew to anthropomorphize these huggy critters. These dancing queens will actually hunt you in the brush, they’ll generally run when confronted in the open but where they can maneuver unseen in the brush it ain’t unusual to have them move around you. Boars are solitary but have large and very sharp tusks. They also have very thick skulls, extremely thick shoulder blades and large shields of thick scar on their shoulders from fighting. Their hearts are also locared deep in their chests where
I’ve seen more than a few hog hunters with major scars, there’s a reason a saubart is a badge on your jagdhood. It’s getting worse too. The majority of pigs are the result of generations of domestic pigs gone feral, they have attitude but still have the coloring of donestic pigs. Some of the hunt clubs have illegally introducedthe Russian boars of European fame and they’ve brought a whole new level of fun to the ‘hunt each other’ experience.
And for Nyet and Joshua…the ‘domestic pigs gone wild’ reference is NOT a video about country girls on spring break from community college. Just thought I’d save y’all the trouble.

We also have traps out, this is more protecting our land than hunting, but it’s hunting too. We have four farms other than mine we work, owners are not able to do it themselves. Outside of that there are thousands of acres of woods and brush for them to hang out and breed.
When I lived in West Palm we used to hunt hogs in the Corbett Area, they were big and nasty. That was decades ago and I imagine with the population there that the pressure’s far greater now on the area.
Going out in a few minutes to check the traps, will check them again around sundown and sit out for a while with the hog gun.

Ahhh…we have some distance so I use a .458 Socom, AR-10 in 7.62 or a .300 Blackout. Most of our out-of-the-trap shots are between 100 and 150 yards so I needs some punch. I use a Single Six in .22 WRM for trap shots, that .458 works great in tight brush and ensures I won’t test the limits of my Medicare.
I was saying reloading as Lehigh makes some super ammo ( based on their military line I bet) that will punch through that shoulder shield and shoulder blade before doing its thing. Super stuff.

Will let you know how it go if ya fell like heading over some time. I have been using Topper cause it is light to carry. Saw a lot of Deer this season but none I could shoot at. I think the Hog hunting will be fun til next season. We can make trips with fishin and Hunting same day. This river is still wild and a lot of fun.

I remember back in the 80’s when poor dumb women fell for the dashing romantic college students from the ME, went home with them and found themselves imprisned. Women’s rights groups were trying to get the government to intervene and rescue them and their children. What happened?

Women used to be repelled by FMG, and that was a big social issue. Can nay conclude the Islamists are much better at pushing their narrative to chumps.

Wow, I just had a shiver run down my back. A friend of a friend invited several women who were single to go to this swanky bar downtown with her. One of the draws was that it was a bar where wealthy men frequented. I went along with my friend because she didn’t want to go without me. There were darker handsome looking men there and I had the feeling they were from the Mid. East. I didn’t know anything about muslims or anything else. But, I wasn’t comfortable with the situation. Than would have been about 1981 or 1982.

The woman was black and got really mad and indignant when I told her I wasn’t out looking for a man because of his wealth. (I had just gotten divorced and wasn’t looking for a man at all). But, now I wonder what she was actually up to.

  6. The seedy underbelly of the Internet, Twitter, has a new hashtag trending. Allegedly, some homosexual got thrown out of a party for holding hands with his boyfriend. I watched the video, and it’s more likely from what I saw that they got thrown out because it was a private party. (When the bouncer tells you you’re not on the guest list, you don’t get to keep insisting that you are on the list. Also unclear is whether or not these people decided to try and get into the party anyway, which is what I’m suspicious happened.)

My Fake Hate Crime sense is tingling. Still trying to get the full story, but my feeling is that like every other hate crime I’ve seen lately, it’s a fake.

I was in the audience (Myrtle Beach) when our President Donald Trump made a promise to fix that, so it would never happen again…. I heard him myself say he would do that on the first day. I just hope this is one promise that he makes good on.

So far I haven’t heard anything.. I guess this isn’t on near the top of his priority lists…

A husband and wife were grocery shopping. He picks up a case of beer and puts it in the cart. “What are you doing?” asks the wife. “They’re on sale, only $10 for 24 cans” he replies. “Put them back, we can’t afford them”, demands the wife. They continue shopping. Later on, she puts a $20 jar of face cream in the basket. “What are you doing?” asks the husband. “It’s my face cream. It makes me look beautiful,” replies the wife. He said, “So does 24 cans of beer and it’s half the price.”
    That’s him in Aisle 5!

The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Tuesday shows that 57% of Likely U.S. Voters approve of President Trump’s job performance. Forty-three percent (43%) disapprove.
The latest figures include 42% who Strongly Approve of the way Trump is performing and 33% who Strongly Disapprove. This gives him a Presidential Approval Index rating of +9 (see trends).

Trump Orders Removal Of Islamic Symbols, Practices In The White House
    By Ike A. Offor
For the past 8 years, to appease any Muslims working at or visiting the White House, silence has been ordered during the 5 times of Islamic prayer each day. In addition, prayer rugs and crescent moon symbols are available in several areas of the executive mansion to make Muslims more comfortable.

Well, we might be having a little girl soon. My daughter had her 36 week appointment with a new doctor and she’s dilated to a 3 and baby’s head is engaged. She said she won’t make it to her due date, she could go anytime, but would be very out of the ordinary if she didn’t go into labor within the next two weeks.
I still have my fingers crossed for Valentine’s Day, doctors don’t know everything. lol

It wasn’t too exciting today, it was a very long day. Her records got lost in the transfer, yet electronic is supposed to be so much better than paper. So that took forever for them to get that fixed and still they didn’t get all of them.
Then it was test day, I don’t remember having to be tested for so much stuff when I was pregnant. That made the visit longer than normal.
Then she had to do the hospital thing and then sign all the papers.
Then the meeting with the anesthesiologist and more paper work to sign.

I had forgotten how long all the hospital stuff took with my grandson.

I think she’s been ready and impatient for awhile.lol
She was telling my daughter yesterday because she’s an hour away from the hospital and already dilating to not wait, ignore the instructions on timing contractions and first contraction or water breaking to come to hospital.
My daughter told me that since she’s been such a pain the entire time, it would be just like her to come on the side of the road. lol

I told her yesterday that her husband could deliver her if it came to that. She told me that if he was at work then he’d have to meet us at the hospital because she wasn’t waiting the 30 to 45 minutes for him to get home so it would be me having to do that.
I told her I’d put the pig/goat birthing kit in the car, it would have everything I need. lol

I have a friend who had two of her kids in the car on the way to the hospital and one she had in the ER, a nurse had to deliver it in front of the entire waiting room. She barely made it through the doors.

I am going to put this here, as I know you all will be adults and ignore me and talk around me.

I have just finished reading a learned piece from one of our top CIA analysts, now retired, on what our military strategies now will be under Pres Trump.
    “Divining Trump’s Military Strategies” https://consortiumnews.com/2017/01/24/divining-trumps-military-strategies/

Know upfront that am I just another flunky nobody that, for reasons unknown to me, woke up again this morning and got out of bed.

I have neither heard nor read a better example of madman than the man who wrote this piece, Paul R. Pillar. This man Pillar lives entirely in his own head.

No one else exists in Pillar’s world except Pillar himself. There is no one else that is more important to be considered worthy of attention or consideration than Paul R. Pillar. There is no possible other reason to Paul R. Pillar why any other viewpoint is to be considered.

I am not a kid. Rather, I am around most of your ages. I am not a military strategist. Heck, I never even finished my Masters in Psychology. But even I know Paul R. Pillar is crazy. Pillar would never consider the opinion of {horrors} a blogger and radio jockey.
    “Trump’s Top Priorities” http://www.globalresearch.ca/trumps-top-priorities/5570037

Should I have mentioned I’m crazy?

Jeans, I bit, as my tired old eyes read this hit piece, all I can say is hogwash. Now, if Trump is going to commit military forces, it will be short, deadly, and the military will come home. Now I believe Trumps use of the military will be on the table, last resort. In today’s modern world there are many other ways to defeat enemies.
Czar may have some other thoughts……..
