Southern Baptists keep trying to lasso me but from what I gather there’s very little in their pantheon of behaviors that isn’t a sin. I got enough trouble dealing with the maze of Federal and state regulations governing my farm without getting wrapped up in another bureaucracy.
I’ll just have a drink in the Fiddler’s Green NCO stag bar and discuss the promotion board’s requirements.

I grew up Southern Baptist. There was nothing except sitting in a church pew that was all right to do. And, even then you were in danger of not paying enough attention, singing correctly, or (in my case) squirming too much. When I got older I had to wonder where S. Baptists got children.

Morning Figments!
25F here in Myrtle Beach.. the weather people are calling it bitter cold. I covered two plants.. the rest are on their own.. Yesterday we had a kinda storm, and I think I might have seen two snowflakes. This morning I took my sweet old dog out, then she practically scurried back to the house on her own… (she doesn’t actually run any more) Hope everyone stays warm and safe.

Our outside spigots froze, even though I had them cracked open a tiny bit. Dh has gone to Lowes to get something…. They are both working now…

Onlynthing that froze was our backup septic pump but I disconnected it and brought it into the garage to thaw. Hoojed it up this AM soon as the temp went above 32 so we’re back in biznezz. Had tap running thin stream inside, really expensive if your well tank/pump freeze. Not one of those problems you gotta deal with if you have city water.

In our case it’s a delicate balance. I should pump the final septic tank down as when the air temp goes below 30 there’s a chance that the vertical sprinkler pipes and heads that normally spray the tank water will freeze. We have our pipes running both thru the slab and over the ceiling so they stay above freezing but the well pump pipes and pressure tank might freeze so letting the inside tap run circulates warm water thru the system.
Forgot to pump last night so there was a chance the whole septic system might overfill from the tap flow but they gotta flow to prevent freeze soooooo….
Luckily St Vincet Ferrer was on duty so everything was flush.

We have an anaerobic septic system. By the time the effluent hits the final tank it’s cooked in two tanks with loads of the same bacteria added that are used in municipal systems. Effluent’s pumped out over 50 feet to downslope on a hill that drops into the lake. It flows another 50+ feet through grass, brush and trees. Only difference between being sprayed thru the built-in pump or being emptied thru the external pump is the spread. No smell really, though there can be a slight odor that quickly dissipates if the system’s hit with too much groundwater from adreally heavy rain. Bacteria really dies a job chewing it all up.

at out lake, most have septic tanks, old classic…but if you add a bathroom or bedroom, they make you replace it with expensive cantankerous aerobic systems to stink up your lot, but the locals have the business monopoly and work with the code enforcers.
happy to have the septic merely pumped out regularly…

I didn’t want a regular septic system as the soil’s not really all thst permeable and every tree within miles would be sending roots directly to the buffet pipes. The anaerobic system we have is actually approved gor use in Massachusetts, it’s capable of handling Clinton and Kennedy **** without choking. Seriously, it is Mass approved and really has zero smell. Then again we’re about twenty miles west of a paper plant and we frequently get its sulfurous ‘smell of the south’ so it’s a wash.

43 today with loads of rain. Yay. We need it. Snow was a blast yesterday, more the consistency of a dry Slurpee. Wicked heavy snowballs but highly throwable and accurate.
Darn if my Raiders didn’t get whupped, guess they were tired of winning. On the other hand, I am not.

Well it is almost another day but this morning I made maple booze bacon. First time and everyone loved it.
1/2 cup brown sugar, 1/2 cup maple syrup, about 1/3 cup Woodford Reserve. Cut two pounds thick slice bacon in half strips and dumped in bowl with the glase mix. Coated all real well and put on rack over a pan; all nicely laid out. Cooked on 400 for about half hour. Oh, my. Oh, my.

I think that last picture is from Cloud Atlas.
One of the best films I’ve seen in a long time. Everyone in the film plays like a dozen characters, in many different time periods. I think it got an Oscar for makeup artistry, and it’s no surprise, because what they did is pure genius.
I’m not big on Hollywood, but then, Hollywood didn’t make that film.

Joe Biden and Teddy Kennedy were the twin spawn of Satan throughout that travesty that destroyed the career of a very good man and a brilliant jurist. The comments on this new song are a wonderful window into today’s youth, and into the world, and most of them give me hope.
I’m almost 46, and the comments bring me back almost as much as the song.
Ed Sheeran is back with a new album soon, he just released 2 tracks, but I hope he dials it back, and doesn’t become another George Michael or Whitney Houston.
I love a lot of new, current music, and will always be looking for it. Some artists will live to their 70s, making great music because that’s their goal. Some will seek fame instead.
I like to guess. Is this artist, who is rising fast, going to become a great musician for a long, long time? Or are they going to become a pop star and then burn out or die?
I think Sheeran’s going to go the distance, and screw fame.
