Is there any other service the Government demands you purchase with no other option if you don’t but a fine? You buy the cheapest insurance you can afford just to keep from vreaking Federal law and being fined. The insurance generally doesn’t cover much, rarely saves you money and stretches many already ‘at the breaking point’ budgets.
Feds must have gotten into bed with the insurance companies as it’s been obvious to anyone in the field that rates would skyrocket once having insurance was mandatory, lower cost meet-the-need insurance that covered bupkis was just gravy and there were no provisions in the law to prevent insurance companies from screwing enrollees.
Congress also shot itself in the foot, disenrolling all Congresspersons and virtually all of their staff from the Federal health insurance program. Those Federal employees on the Fed program have seen premiums skyrocket to almost unaffordable heights. Yeah, setting the stage for a European style single-payer system where welfare-to-work Federal employees determine if you’re gonna get that treatment the pissed-off and (s/he thinks) underpaid doc has ordered.

Today, the elite liberals would point out that Mike Mulligan, being Irish, was portrayed as too stupid to plan a ramp to get the steam shovel out of the basement hole…and that the steam shovel, named Mary Ann was a misogynistic attempt to insult women by naming an out of date machine a woman’s name, and then when the man was “done” with Mary Ann…they just made “her” into a furnace boiler….stuck her in the kitchen to heat the building…..yep…today they would destroy the book and brag about it to each other.

Tis the price you pay for living amidst the trees. With us it’s lightening, we lose about a tree a year. Usually trees native to the area and trees that aren’t part of one of those FHA prescriptions stay up while those brought in for landscaping go roots up. After three wars and the NOLA projects, to go out by having a tree fall on me would be humorous enough to numb the irony.

Prior to nationwide prohibition (1920-1933), there were several efforts to get rid of alcohol. Christmas was a huge target in the late 1800’s of anti-alcohol progressive campaigns and milk and cookies for Santa was one of them. Prior to 1900 it was common practice to leave a mince pie (with booze in it), and a dram/shot of whisky for Santa (and a carrot for his reindeer). I’ll have to look but I think it was in the December 24th 1891 of “Puck” I ran across it.

I have had several pugs, the first was mixed but mostly pug, and was the smartest and best dog ever. Others, pure bred…not so much….but they are a few steps in wild beneath Jack Russell Terriers….not calm so much…put fun to play with….have eye issues often, one of mine lost an eye playing with another dog….but loved my firsty. He did every trick in the book for me….would go get my houseshoes from my closet and bring them to me, and match them up if they were separated. Also brought in the newspaper in the morning from the front yard.

Heck, now we have dachshunds…and a recently rescued Australian Cattle Dog, that attempts to “herd” the dachshund…much to his sorrow and frustration…cats and dachs do not “herd”….

The oldest dog in our house is my wife’s husband…or so she tells me. “good”…well, that too is a question posed from her side of the breakfast table…lol.

My friend sent over an email… thought this was cute:

    Subject: Wisconsin Fishing Contest

How do you settle a presidential election when the vote is too close to call? With an fishing contest in northern Wisconsin in January, of course!

After the final votes were counted, Hillary and Donald were deadlocked.

Instead of going through a recount, they agreed to a week-long ice fishing contest to settle the election. Whoever caught the most fish at the end of the week would be the President.

They decided that a remote frozen lake in northern Wisconsin would be the ideal place. No observers on the fishing grounds, but both would need to have their catches verified and counted each night at 5 pm.

After Day 1, Trump returned with a total of 10 fish, Hillary came back with nothing.

Day 2 finished, and Trump caught another 20 fish, but Hillary once again came back with nothing.

That night, Hillary and her cronies got together and accused Trump of being a “low-life, cheating son-of-a-gun.” Instead of fishing on Day 3, they were going to follow and spy on him and figure out how he was cheating

Day 3 finished up and Trump had an incredible day, adding 50 fish to his total!

That night, Hillary and her democratic cohorts got together for the full report on how Donald was cheating. Hillary stood up to give her report and said, “You are not going to believe this! He’s cutting holes in the ice!”

This story tells you all you need to know about the difference between a successful businessman and a career government politician.

Aaaaand, from the actual, real, published Bloomberg article:

It’s 11 a.m. on a recent Friday, and 29-year-old Audrey Gelman–public-relations powerhouse, former Hillary Clinton press aide, longtime friend of Lena Dunham’s — is sitting on a pink couch at the Wing, the co-working space and social club she co-founded this October in New York. A man walks through the elevator doors, and Gelman throws him a friendly wave. “That’s our AV guy,” she says. “He’s basically the only man that comes through here.”

Yes. A Social-Media-made pool party at someone else’s pool, who wasn’t home, and because they weren’t home. FUBU. For us, by us. I have a FUBU shirt. Cosby kids are on it. Love that shirt.

It was a party made, on the fly, with social media, in someone’s backyard, and a backyard home invasion.

I hope she loses big, in discovery.
