sorry about your pain Lovely….I read up on the Mayo Clinic site about PF, which I was unfamilar with and thought maybe it was a type of wart….looks like a really painful deal, and a long timeline for healing as well. Best of wishes for miraculous immediate recovery.

not so seriously, I began to have massive leg cramps in my calves…went to bone doc to see what was going on…he found nothing ….left on my own…needed some new shoes, so went to shoe store…and I have worn the exact same loafer shoe since high school…same size and color…..total rutsville me….so I just said bring me a pair of these….dude insisted on measuring my foot first…..I said, man 9 and a half B same as usual….measurement said 10 and a half B….total misalignment of my foot, caused muscle strain….so, new shoes fixed my PROBLEM….and I learned humility (a little) and not to be so dam certain of stuff….that was years ago….still very hardheaded….per my spouse.

Lovely, there is a modified sock that helps too, one that you sleep in. Natural sleeping position for your feet is to have the toes slightly pointed when the foot is relaxed. This shortens up the calf musculature and Achilles’s tendon. That’s ok all night long, but when you get up and put your feet flat on the floor, the Achilles’s tendon attachment to the bone in the heel exacerbates the plantar fasciitis for the first hour after you get up. The sock has a soft cord that goes from your heel to your shin, keeping your ankle at 90 degrees all night, eliminating that early morning exacerbation. Ice packs or massages to your heel may help some too. When you can’t take it any more, go for the steroid injection. It is often instant relief. Without it this can last for weeks or months. Plantar fasciitis is kind of like a toothache; it ain’t gonna kill ya, but man is it miserable! If your stomach can take them, NSAIDs (ibuprofen/Advil, naproxen/Aleve) work better for this type of pain than Tylenol. Good luck!

Thanks Tundra. I’ll look for the sock tomorrow. The boot seems to help. Your time line for morning pain is spot on. I’m sleeping with the boot on and that is helping but it is terribly annoying to wear. The doc mentioned ice packs and I’ve already forgotten about it.

I have a drug resistant body so I’m always hesitant to waste my time on drugs because they usually don’t alleviate anything. Woke up on the operating table once (20 years ago?) because the anesthesia wore off.

Tylenol is a pretty effective fever reducer, and provides some measure of pain relief for most people, though not as helpful as anti-inflammatories. It’s main benefit is that it is not a stomach irritant like the NSAIDs. It can be combined with them for added effect in pain relief. What many fail to appreciate is that Tylenol absolutely has a maximum dose: 4,000 mg/day. Two extra strength tablets taken four times a day. And no more. Beyond that it can cause liver damage and even complete liver failure. And once that happens, it is transplant time, or a very miserable death.

I don’t know anything about your feet. But, I had plantar facsitis since I was in my 20’s. The pain was excruciating and the only thing that helped it was a shot of cortisone in my arch area. At least it helped one of the 3 times I had it. Finally, a podiatrist, or someone, told me never to go barefoot, not even around the house, and to either use a shoe with a 1/2 inch heel, an orthotic, or a sandal with an arch. It ceased to be a problem.

This is one brand I wear. They are expensive, but they last a long time, too. You can also find what you want and then look on the Internet to get them cheaper.

Hi Ausc, I already have really good shoes and orthotic inserts, not for the PF but because of neck surgery which resulted in a cracked bone and of course the everything is connected so the proper shoes help keep everything in alignment. I have a problem with my knees which need to be replaced one of these days but that is not happening until it absolutely has to happen.

I do think going barefoot was part of my problem and now I wear slippers in the house which I hate but I definitely have less pain since I’ve been wearing them.

          Thanks ! 🙂

He was Georgios Kyriacos Panayiotou, who grew up in north London and set up Wham! with his friend Andrew Ridgeley. From 1982 to their breakup in 1986 they produced some of the best songs of the decade, almost all of them written by Michael. He was always uncomfortable with being a teenage pin-up: he knew was, even then, play acting and was tiring of the act

A long line of well-publicised misadventures, even imprisonment on drugs charges, did not destroy his popularity or stature. “I’ve spent 10 or 15 years trying to derail my own career, because it never seems to suffer,” he once joked. “I’m surprised that I’ve survived my own dysfunction, really”. This seemed to baffle those writing about him: how can a star have so many embarrassing secrets exposed, and pay no real penalty?

Easy. His music spoke for itself, and always will do.

  16. So across the way yesterday there was a post about random violence at malls perpetrated by the Usual Suspects. This bothers me quite a bit, since I like mall walking.

I’m getting sick of seeing this, and equally sick of the PC madness. “Suspect is female.” Thanks for that bulletin. I appreciate having the description of the suspect narrowed down to just about half of the human race. This is also why I’m less and less inclined towards the juvenile justice system. These thugs in the surveillance footage look like teenagers, and if caught, they should be tried as adults, for the peace of mind they destroyed alone.

    • Wooly Phlox says:

Well, at least we understand the Press Code now.

Soviets can feel that. We know what the suspect looks like, because of what the press left out of the description. We know what’s true by what the press leaves out, because we know what the press always leaves out.

The citizens of the Soviet Union began to know the code.

Once that happened, the whole empire fell.

      Liked by 1 person

      • Juvenile justice should be for juveniles only, and by juveniles I mean those ten and under. It may be true that the teenage brain is still in development, but that doesn’t excuse teenagers from obeying the law. And above the age of twelve, a young person should know the difference between right and wrong.

Kids’ behavior mirrors the training provided from birth by parents. Socialization is not economic but cultural and value driven. No responsible maturity or care for others or sensitive communication skills is LEARNED from MIRRORING the home norms. Juvenile justice should be aimed first at the sperm and egg donors who dropped a load and missed out on Planned Parenthood services so they could get Fed Money and Free stuff. Very hard to fix a broken toy if no one played nice with it when it was first New.

          • I’m never in favor of Planned Parenthood, ever. This country is a poorer place for allowing that brood of vipers to continue to operate. That said, the welfare for women who went out and got pregnant outside of wedlock needs to end. Encouraging bad behavior on increases it.

If a single woman can afford a child out of wedlock, fine. But I’m tired of paying the bills for those who can’t.

We had 2 twelve year old girls stab one of their best friends 19 times and leave her for dead in the woods. Thankfully and miraculously the girl survived. In WI the age of reason in our justice system is 10 so the girls are being tried as adults. Court battles are still being waged, unsuccessful attempts to get the case moved to juvenile court have thankfully failed.

Both girls have entered mental deficiency defenses. Two strikes against that is that they used code words on the school bus so that their mutual friends would not know what they were planning (Oh yes they planned it for months) and a second strike is that one of the girls legal teams stated before the court that she was not a risk and should be allowed to live with her grandparents until the trial.

Medicated out of madness but claiming she is not mentally well enough to assist in her own defense.

I believe the latest defense attempt is to have one of the girls freely given confessions thrown out because she is a minor and her parents were not consulted before she was interviewed.

Slender man case for any one interested in more details.

          Total Sheoyt show.

        • Actually, the part of human brain responsible for decision making (frontal lobe) sort of goes on vacation during teenage years, overwhelmed by hormones. Up until the age of 18 – 19, teenagers should be able to act according to a) expectations of others; and b) law (Kohlberg, 1958, Theory of Moral Development, Stage of Conventional Morality). Therein lies the problem: the expectations are either confusing or drastically wrong, if not criminal, and there is no respect for the law. Thus, the system that treats them based on this stage is flawed. They might be teenagers in physical age, but socially and morally they are babies who respond only to fear of punishment. The system needs to be restructured.
Rhea, I actually agree with you in principal, but on a different basis.

certainly, none of this is understood or incorporated in our public school systems or local police and justice systems……but MANY of these “kids” are having babies at age 14 thru 18 in high school….and they have a baby prior to getting over the emotional stage…but having a baby changes the chemistry of females often….not so the guys….when we were developing a nation….kids ALL worked jobs in their households from the age they could walk…there was never a time when an excuse was made for them to act up against parents and responsibility…..they did not have any “participation trophy”….the worked…and school was nine month long so the farm family kids could gather crops in the summer period. Nothing that WAS is NOW in play with these kids….and the middle school black girls are the most violent I have ever seen….the boys are bad, but the girls are dangerous….and NOTHING in our culture allows us to recognize that fact and DEAL HARSHLY with the KIDS and their MOMMAs….(there are NO fathers in this deal anymore)

            Liked by 2 people

            • I totally agree. Unfortunately, having babies at an early age changes the body chemistry in the wrong direction, MAKING them more violent. Middle school age is the toughest one to deal with altogether, much more difficult than high schoolers. They don’t have the cognitive ability to reason yet, but the urge to establish independence is already there. Add to that the impact of TV and video games, add unsupervised internet interaction, and most importantly, add broken families – JOBS in households? What households? Yes, in any situation, a violent female is much more dangerous than a male. I would object to HARSHLY, though. I would propose revamping the systems, both educational and judicial, according to cognitive, emotional, and moral reality that exists today. Starting with parents, of course (I’ve dealt with quite a few families where mothers were abusive, and dads had the custody of the kids).

Interesting how the POtuS is trashing the POTUS-elect before thevinsuguration, like a pissy and petulant child denied his toy. Wonder how this is going to play out at the Inauguration when POtuS makes his speech…
