    Oh crap, the Christmas season sullied even more.
    I call my physician’ s office at the major medical organization it’s connected to. There’s the usual half-hour of prerecorded garbage on using their online service to contact the clinic, some self-serving puffing but now there’s a new piece. Seems that, “during the holiday season”, if you shop AmazonSmile you designate a portion of your purchase price to be donated to the hospital’s already substantial cash reserves.
    With doctor-owned hospitals already five-or-more times profitable than public-owned ones, and this one in particular either gobbling up or assuming the management of other hospitals, one would assume that at some point they’d stop to digest. This doesn’t include their already heady ‘clinical trials’ business….
    Ah well, up up and away, never let an opportunity to shake the piggy bank go unexploited.

        My irritation wasn’t with Smile but with the already cash-heavy hospital using it to exploit the season for even more cash.

          Yeah, screw that. I get that hospitals have to deal with a load of gov’t crap too, and get shafted constantly by everyone, but they also make certain they get theirs .

          Somehow our civilization has managed to turn charity into an evil, stealing from the ignorant, taking from those who don’t have enough, and laundering the proceeds to come out smelling fresh and clean, like rainbows that make idiots feel warm and fuzzy.

          There are literally thousands of “charities” listed on Amazon Smile, and it is extremely difficult to find one that I’m OK with money going to, and would be willing to donate to directly myself. Amazon wanted to do a good thing and help make it easy to support charities, and instead they’ve created an entirely new way for leeches and rent-suckers to try to thrive.

            Especially sonce I already get, from the hospital system expected to protect my health, regular letters asking me to remember them in my will. Irony isn’t their strong point.
            They’re rolling in money, since Katrina they’ve bought out a number of hospitals in the area and have branched out, post Obamacare, into taking over the management of hospitals now they can’t buy them.
            They also have a healthy clinical trials program where pharma pays them to beta test new drugs on very sick patients to see what potential liability there may be….oh, what’s that…yeah, to see if the drugs are a pitential cure for debilitating conditions. Seems like the only ones running out of money are the patients.

    James Taylor has cancelled his Manila concert he was using to protest Philippine president Duterte’s drug policies. Riiiiggghhhtttt, what concert, you may ask.
    Seems Taylor’s upset with the ‘extra-judicial killings’ of dealers, an act blamed on Duterte or Duterte-approved action – no doubt by drug dealers upset at the prospects of bring whacked before they can play the system.
    I’m wondering if Taylor got the idea that neither his presence nor his pro-drug message were welcome and being there might be…unhealthy. Taylor’s kept his share of drug dealers in mortgage payments during his drug and alcohol sotted life, his sudden interest in keeping Philippine drug dealers in business leads me to think his motives may be less than pure.

    A user going by the name of “Abu Marya al-Iraqi” posted an Arabic-language message calling “for bloody celebrations in the Christian New Year” and announced the group’s plans to utilize its network of lone wolf attackers to “turn the Christian New Year into a bloody horror movie.”

    The series of messages appeared in a pro-ISIS group on Telegram, which also provides manuals for the use and preparations of weapons and explosives for aspiring assailants. The information, distributed in a number of posts, was all previously available online and includes a public directory of churches across all 50 states. (Vocativ does not publish specific information found in lists like these.)

      Dear Uncle Joe, Hitler kills 6-million Jews and he’s the most evilest villain in history. Stalin’s murders eclipse Hitlers (minimum of 5-7 million in the created Ukrainian famine alon) and he’s a war hero. History is flooded with stories of the floods of death he ordered, he had political prisoners clearing mibefields by walkin through them, yet scant attention is paid.
      He had Cossacks who fought against Russia forcibly repatriated to Russia, alobg with their families, and had his Secret Police immediately execute the Cossacks and their families right behing Russian lines and within the hearing of the Allied troops forcing them on trucks for transport.
      Then there’s thecquestion of the thousands of Allied POWs, most Brit and US, that the Russians captured when they overran German POW camps. They were transported into Russia to ve used as slave labor in rebuilding postwar Russia, and that never could have happened without Stalin’s OK, if not direct orders.

          All you have to do with Unions is this; Pay Check Protection. You private company or government agency is prohibited by law collecting union dues. Now, I’m not anti union, just watch within a year the cash flow from paychecks to union coffers slows to a trickle. This stops the money laundering for Democrats……..it works, ask Scott walker…..
