I still don’t know why everybody stops in the 1930’s. That is exactly the same as created by Johann Adam Weishaupt (6 February 1748 – 18 November 1830) in the 1780’s

  13. Morning everybody! Have a blessed Sunday!

    Luke 2: 8 – 11
And there were shepherds living out in the fields nearby, keeping watch over their flocks at night. An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord around them, and they were terrified. But the angel said to them, Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people. Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord. Amen.

One of the college attending kids was aghast and told us we are disrespecting ourselves by using an older mobile phone, then trued to convince Mrs. Nyet, that she just doesn’t understand how to use the technology. An offer was made to purchase the newest phone for her with assurances she would “fall in love” with the newest phone.

A comprehensive and informative article on just war theory. I’m sure almost all of us are quite familiar with the concept, and instinctively believe in it as necessary for society to exist and allow us to live our lives.

Nevertheless, this goes back to early Christian thinkers, and builds from there, then deals with terrorism.

    https://providencemag.com/2016/11/just-war-theory-terrorism/

The money quote, IMO, comes at the very end.

What this amounts to is the claim that, in the end, just war thinking is really is about “neighbor love.” The best way, sometimes the only way, to operationalize neighbor love in the real world of limits, fallenness, and evil is by standing between the beast and their prey, employing force against those who intend the innocent harm, and by standing for justice in the face of its assault.

I’m from the old Ghengis Khan, Stalin school of war. You don’t go into war willy-nilly but when you have to you go in to WIN. None of this protected this-that-or-the-other crap, you lay waste to anything and everything that they can use to wage war, you stomp them into a mudhole. If the leftist whiners want to hold hands they can go in after we win and hand out soup and bandages.
Last war we did this was WWII and it worked. Soon after, starting with Korea, we started peacekeeping operations where we bled and wasted treasure trying to get murderous despots to reconsider their antisocial behavior and seek counseling. We didn’t win a confrontation until Desert Storm and even then we squandered the win.
We could have turned Afghanistan into a sterile zone, even flown into Pakistan and totally obliterated the Taliban and their supporters. Oh yeah, let the Pakis threaten to use their nukes, between India and Isreal they’d be a border-to-border glass ashtray.
One good kick-ass tital war to refresh the memories of the bad guys and convince those who doubt our resolve and I don’t think you’d have to worry about ‘just’ wars, there just wouldn’t be anyvwars…at least until the lessons wore thin.

Ugh, sone break. We were outside sitting in the slight-chill breeze, warching leaden clouds blow in over a slate-grey sky. Squint your eyes juuuussssst right and you’re back out West watching a snow storm roll in.
Should have been doing less squinting and more dog watching. The lab-pit pup (about a 30 poubd ‘pup’) and the beagle-spring mix were out tearing up the grass, running around at top speed, knocking each other over and generally making us wish we had 10% of their energy. While we were squinting they discovered a huge mud puddle (operant word is ‘mud’) and proceeded to wallow in it. So the usual bath time circus ensued…now recovering by lunching on homemade chicken stew (used Popeyes I bought just for the purpose) and homemade biscuits with Leobard Cohen on the stereo and two damp dogs on our feet.

I’ve thought about this phrase a lot lately. Of course I hold true to Catholic teachings on the value of all life.

However, in my opinion, life is a precious gift. It should end, if we live long enough past our youth, with us using that gift to give back something of value to this world and the people in it, on behalf of the Creator, in His service, knowingly or not.

If you live a life of sloth, gluttony(not just in food) and waste, if you take everything and give nothing, if you cause pain instead of give love, if you bear no responsibility for your actions, mesh are no burdens, give no help too there’s, well then, your life doesn’t matter. You have wasted it.

You can scream at the top of your lungs that your lives matter, but you know they don’t. You just don’t want to do what it takes to make them matter.

The gift of life matters. The usage of it does not always matter at all.

The game-changing Wisconsin recount demanded by Watermelon party (that is Green on the outside and Red on the inside) of nutty Jill Stein is certainly validating the wisdom of that decision. According to her the Wisconsin election was hacked or something and she would have really won or something. In actuality, the recount is a cynical effort on the part of the Clinton campaign to try and damage Trump while at the same time keeping plausible deniability of their role in pushing Stein to do this.

As we noted a few days ago, Trump has expressed support for the completion of the Dakota Access Pipeline though his support has been complicated by his personal investments in Energy Transfer Partners. Maybe it’s the cynic in us, but we find it curious that, after sitting silent on this issue for months, the Obama administration, with just a few weeks left in office, would now decide to take definitive action on this issue…just a little parting gift for Trump.
