For some, it
takes coffee
to cope. 😉
LikeLiked by 5 people
Others simply enjoy a larger cup of tea.
Why?
While brewed coffee does have more caffeine than steeped tea, it’s because coffee is a stronger drink than tea. Tea leaves actually contain more caffeine than coffee beans.

Impeach, I must have forgotten that, or did not know that…..thank you…

The other thing that doesn’t seem right, but is: darkly roasted coffee beans have less caffeine than those that are lightly roasted.

It’s the oil in the beans. Also, drip coffee has more caffeine than the other methods of brewing.

The story behind the extremely creepy elf is that you buy the doll and set it on a shelf and tell your kids that the elf is watching them and reporting back to Santa. There’s a lot wrong with this, from the problem of kids learning to behave only when some creepy doll is watching to the whole “snitches get stitches” thing, and since the elf is a snitch… Mostly it teaches kids they only have to behave when someone or something is watching.
Also the elf is the creepiest looking thing.

Here’s a very good reflection from Bishop Robert Barron to start the day.
As we’ve already seen, Advent is a time of waiting. But does this mean that we do nothing? That we sit like lumps? No. In fact, there is something very “active” about waiting.
Do you recall how lively and attentive you are when you are eagerly waiting for someone to arrive? When you watch for every car that comes by when you are waiting at the airport? Every sense strains to take in what is happening. Your mind is alive with expectation; your spirit is jumping.
This is what waiting means in the spiritual sense; this is the mood of Advent. We’re invited to actively wait, attuned to the coming Christ, looking for him in the Liturgy, the Scriptures, in prayer, and in all those around us who bear his image.

It’s call “the fog of war”. I’m not defending anyone. Now in the SF officers mission order, who was tasked to provide air support or evac causalities? Did this SF unit coordinate with this Marine unit for air support/cauvac, before this incident? Or did this SF unit just break squelch and come up on the net to ask for help? Was this Marine Brigade engaged? Was there enough MedVac available? Also the Taliban has used this method of ambush, many times in Afghanistan, and have even shot at/downed MedEvac with the Red Crosses displayed. Also why was this smart bomb launched at this SF unit?
Now the DemoRats may think this is a siliver bullet, it’s not….. you can talk, explain, and slow walk thru combat experiences, unless you were there, or have experience combat you would not unstand. I wasn’t there so I will not past judgement……..

Crap, every time I try to post this reply my iPad flips out and loses it. One more time.
If I remember the incident a SF-led unit ran into heavy resistence and called in an air strike. Air Force SpecialOperators in the mix were responsible for putting the bombs on target but one went astray and landed too close to the SF team.
The author sems to imply the General had some personsl reasons for not sending his helicopters in, but we need to know the General’s real reasons. Maybe he didn’t have the full intel on what ground conditions were, those big, lumbering choppers make great bad guy targets. What about the altitude at the site? Thinner air at higher altitudes means more time as a huge target while those blades claw for air. Did he have other ground operations that took priority?
The author also intimated the AFSOC commander send older (less capable) birds. Let’s go back to our old discussion on the B-52 and where I said the last one built was delivered in 1962? You call the B-52 old and dysfunctional?
The choppers the AFSOC launched were almost assuredly the MH-53 Pave Low, a special AFSOC bird. Last 53 bird built was in 1970 but, as with the B-52, they are scrupulously maintained and rebuilt, the Pave Low has a full suite of state-of-the-art electronics and each one can deliver about five times the firepower of a B-17.
The AFSOC may well have felt pressure to launch as there was controversy over how responsibility the AF Opertors had in that bomb landing short. They had AF Operators in danger and I’ll bet they also wanted to debrief them before anyone else did. The Pave Low is also designed to fightnits way into and out of a hot LZ where most Army and Marine troop carriers need gunship support.
More here than meets the eye and I don’t trust the author’s motives.

In my day the officers and senior NCOs pulled Thanksgiving and Christmas duty so that junior troops could spend the day with their families. We also had Turkey Day and/or Christmas meals at our chow halls for all soldiers and their families. Senior officers and NCOs would fix and serve the meals, costs would come out of moral and welfare funds frequently with donations from the officers. At worst the soldiers who received ‘rations ‘ pay, as they had families, would pay the noon meal per diem rate of less than a dollar forveach family member thry brought.
BTW, totally off subject but it came to mind, I have steel mess trays and silverware from my old unit in Vietnam (remember my old post: “Germans fight for the Fatherland, French fight foe wonen ans Americans fight for souvenirs”). The modern iteration of that old unit wants them (plus some original silverware) for its museum. More than one holiday dinner was eaten on them.
LikeLiked by 2 people
Yeah, and junior officers like myself did duty. At our patrol base on the W.G. Border or IGB if you prefer. We relived the troopers for 2days, did the recon, dismounted and mounted patrols. Manned the OPs and other tasks. Track maintenance/recovery. And our meals, well some local people would pass along hams, breads, cakes…..even pulled KP on occasion…..
Most if not all of my troop assignments were very rewarding. Now, looking back, puts a smile on my face.
Keep that steel tray, flatware……things have a way of disappearing in unit museums……

There’s a lot to this. My opinion is that the usual suspects (Soros funded) are using the Indians to stir up trouble. The pipeline doesn’t touch the reservation; it is a half mile away at the closest point. The pipeline will go below the river, at least 90 feet. The pipeline is 85% or so complete at this point, and the remainder is being
picketedprotested. I found out on my own that there is an oil TRAIN that runs directly through the reservation, which is a much bigger risk, and nobody is picketing that. I think the railroad may be owned by Warren Buffet/Berkshire Hathaway. I’ll post some links I found.LikeLiked by 5 people

According to this map, the railroad through the reservation is owned by Burlington Northern/Santa Fe.

BNSF is owned by Warren Buffett/Berkshire Hathaway. It was purchased by them in 2010.

If Stella or someone else has posted an update of Deputy Nick Tullier this month, this may be old news, but thoughts of him just went tripping through my brain today, so I went to the facebook page for him and looked. On Nov 16, he was moved to a rehab facility in Houston. Police escort to the airplane, and another in Houston from the airplane to facility. There are videos on the facebook page. Very moving.

Episodes where the body doesn’t fully accept the donated organ aren’t unusual, takes a while to get the antirejection drugs and their dosages straight and each body reacts differently. I can remember the ward my son was in having some heart and lung transplants go home quickly while he was there months as his kidneys wouldn’t come back on line and the liver was really slow reaching its full functioning.
You pray and trust the specialists from the docs to the nurses and PTs are doing everything right. I can remember a news piece on a double lung transplant from the hospital running a marathon alongside of his transplant doctor that lifted a lot of spirits in the ward. Then you get to take a live family member home and that’s al that matters, the bad times telescope down in nothing.

DH had a procedure done some years ago on the heart/lung transplant floor at Baylor in Dallas. That was the nastiest facility I have ever set hooves in – hope never to, again. I’m sure it’s been cleaned up/rebuilt/restaffed since ’96 but it was gross and the nursing staff was worse. I turned an ankle in the ICU on a syringe on the floor. Crap EVERYWHERE on the floor.
Anyway, I was horrified that our germy selves were even ON that floor. Was sorta what I meant to say…..

Ick. My son’s was done by Ochsner in New Orleans, they have a wing that handles nothing but transplants. As I walked down the hallway to his room I saw little signs outside of rooms saying ‘heart’, ‘lung’, ‘liver’, multiple organ…room after room.
Each room had a small nursing station right outside with a full window looking directly at the patients in the rooms, 24/7. If the patients needed tests the ward most likely had a portable system they could roll in. If they didn’t, no sweat, a pro team assigned to transporting transplant patients moved the patient quickly, safely and comfortably to the test site.
They’d roll a bed in for me if I wanted, rather than my sleeping on the couch, and if I needed it they have their own hotel, complete with individual kitchenettes, attached to the hospital.
Patients with private insurance, Medicare or Medicaid all get the same treatment, no difference, no cornors cut. The hospital turned down the first liver that was brought in for my son’s transplant, they said it didn’t meet their standards…another transplant hospital in the area snapped it up.
We lucked out, found the yellow brick road, and I couldn’t be happier.

Thank you ImpeachEmAll for posting this! What a blessing it is that you follow Sydney’s tannkidneykid account on facebook!
Sydney has been doing very well, and had just completed 2 days of testing in 2 different hospitals, not only her kidney, but her heart & liver as well (also affected by her chromosomal disorder)
Mom, Sydney, and her brother, Benjamin, and sister, Madeline had arrived home yesterday from St. Louis afterwards. My beloved dil was exhausted and said she would update us with all of the test results today…
But, instead, Sydney woke up at 3 am, running a temperature, which is always very serious since she takes so many various anti-rejection medications, which suppress her immune system…
They took Sydney to be tested today, to see what was causing the temperature. Just a little over an hour ago we got the results back, and Sydney tested positive for rhinovirus/enterovirus, which is the medical term for a common cold or virus. Thankfully, not influenza, but still extremely serious for Sydney with her depressed immune system (because of all of the anti-rejection medications.)
Any virus or illness can lead to an acute rejection episode.
In the photo you can see Sydney with her water bottle. She has to drink one and one-half liters of water a day, every day, as well as taking at least 6 different medications, twice a day. And that is when she is doing well and not fighting a virus!
We covet your prayers for Sydney to overcome this virus without any harm or complications/compromise to her new kidney.
Again, thanks ImpeachEmAll, for posting this! … I had fallen asleep on the couch, with my phone in my lap, waiting to hear the results of today’s tests … It was such a blessing to see that you had already alerted everyone!
