I joked that I was buying one of those Thanksgiving dinners from a local restaurant, nobody thought it was as funny as I did.
So I guess I’ll slave for two days baking pies and putting a feast on the table. I always have to make an apple pie for my husband, coconut cream pie for my son, chocolate pie for my daughter, pecan pie for my son-in-law and pumpkin pie for all of them. Now this year while I was making my list of what I needed at the store and was talking out loud my grandson says, “I want cherry pie and nana puddin’ and fied egg Nanny!”
I’m not making him a fried egg, his latest only thing he wants to eat, but I added cherry pie and banana pudding to my list. lol

Too much stuff going on in November for me, the election, my daughter’s baby shower, 2 weddings in the family, and 2 retirement parties in the family plus Thanksgiving.

That’s a lot! You put me to shame. Especially since I know you have a farm to care for as well.

I’ve been a little ran crazy this month with all of that plus business has been busy.
At least this time though I’m having to do very little for the baby shower. I all had to do was buy gifts and pay for the cake. The first time my son-in-law’s sister was going to do it all, she volunteered and asked to do it all and then 2 weeks before had not reserved a room, ordered a cake, or invited anyone. So I had to do it all at last notice. Then she got mad because I took over. She showed up at the shower and didn’t even bother to bring a gift.
My daughter got two sister-in-laws that are worthless. I try not to say anything about her in-laws, but I really can’t stand them. Both of those girls made a big deal of showing up at the hospital when she had him and outside of Christmas at her Father-in-law’s house haven’t seen him since. They haven’t ever even called to ask about him.
My daughter’s friend that is doing the shower this time got her invitation list and asked her if she wasn’t inviting her husband’s sisters. She told her no and she informed her husband they were not welcome.

That was my rant for the day. I’m kind of a mama lion when it comes to my kids and grandkids and her in-laws are a thorn in my side.

The first time I broke the tradition of Thanksgiving dinner was somewhat difficult. After that, it got easier. Before my health shut me down, I started a new tradition while we lived in the DC metro area. Our family would go to one of the Smithsonian art museums, then go out for dinner. A couple of years we ate at one of the Smithsonian museums. They would offer a traditional Thanksgiving dinner. Other years, we would make reservations at a nearby restaurant and enjoy that. Very nice.

For years, we have taken my father and my stepmother out for a Thanksgiving dinner, then came home for dessert – my flaky layered pumpkin pie. Last year I cooked the whole thing at home, and we packed it and brought the Thanksgiving dinner to my father’s apartment, as he was already too weak to go out. That’s why I made only a beast, not the whole turkey. My father made a point of celebrating Thanksgiving and raising a toast to this great country that took us in: “G-d bless America!” In his memory, I am making a dinner at home, for a very small crowd of the closest friends.

This isn’t the biggest deal in the world, but it was one of the first things I thought about after Trump won. If I recall correctly, Obama did this fairly early on, and this one thing made me so mad that I called the British Embassy to apologize on behalf of most of the American people. The upset over that episode was later buried under an avalanche of much worse stuff. I hope the bust gets brought back and they make a huge deal of it.

It might be believed as a joke if you say you’re going to tar and feather him or bring the pitch forks and maybe even if you say you wished he would be assassinated, but when you say you’re going to shoot him with a sniper rifle in his bedroom, that is not a joke. You have not only taken the time to think about killing him and how to do it, but took the time to write your thoughts.
Threatening the life of a President is a felony and he should be charged. My goodness the SS came and talked to Uncle Ted for just saying “cut the head off the snake.”

Matt Harrigan founded Packetsled in 2013. On the night of the election, Harrigan took to Facebook, going into detail about how he would kill the next president of the United States.
On Monday, Packetsled released the following statement regarding the CEO.
“PacketSled takes recent comments made by our CEO, seriously. Once we were made aware of these comments, we immediately reported this information to the secret service and will cooperate fully with any inquiries. These comments do not reflect the views or opinions of PacketSled, its employees, investors or partners. Our CEO has been placed on administrative leave.”

Tree farm immediately south of me is thinning/selling trees for pulp and paper. The process uses big and noisy equipment, the machines that drop the trees drive up, lock two hydraulic clamps around the trunk and a huge saw under the clamps cuts right thru the trunk. Another machine picks the entire tree up and drags it to the processing truck where a huge flatbed-mounted system picks the tree up and places it in a cradle where it’s dragged through a set of rings that just pop all of the branches off and a saw mounted at the end cuts the tip off of the tree. An arm drops the cleaned tree to the ground where they pile up waiting to be stacked on 18-wheelers for transport.
All of this happens at a fast clip too as all of the workers are private contractors, they get paid by the job and the more jobs they complete the more money they make. Long story short here, I got up around 5:30 and sun was barely starting to make itself known but I could hear them talking and warming up the equipment. Just as soon as there was enough light to move safely the equipment was up and working, filling the air with that unique sound of timber processing. These guys were up and heading to work long before the sun’s up, a reason the little country stores around here are up, open and making breakfasts and bag lunches at 4 AM.
Maybe I worked for the Government for too long but I am impressed at the work ethic out here. Most of the people out here are agricultural workers, few have a job with benefits other than personal pride. They get hurt and they lose money until they can work again, 3rd most prescribed drug in the area’s oxy. These were the people who overwhelmingly voted Trump.

The more I reflected the more I understood that if Trump’s supporters were unhappy with the choice of Priebus as Chief of Staff, the choice sent shock waves through the very heart of the blue blood republican’s black hearts.
Trump cannot be an island so I understand his need to have someone like Priebus. But, Priebus could be the poster boy for the establishment my “Drain the swamp!” portion of my brain shouted at me.
So I had a battle within my own brain.
First I’m not sure that people outside of WI understand just how powerful and pivotal WI politicians are after the Prop 10 fight and the recall election of Scott Walker battle. WI was the epicenter of the fight and these folks made deep deep reaches and lasting relationships into the underbelly of the entire RNC machine.
There is a reason the Speaker of the House, the RNC Chair and before Trump one of the most viable candidates for the 2016 presidential run were all from WI.
Before the announcement was made local Talk Show radio host Mark Belling said that Trump was and I quote “absolutely in love with Priebus” which took me slightly aback so I stuck it in the back of my mind. Belling was a Never Trumper (Belling denies this ) but Belling does have his finger on the pulse of WI politics so I trust Belling’s knowledge that Trump genuinely likes (loves) Priebus.
Many things have been consistent about Trump since that magnificent, beautiful elevator ride on June 16th, 2015. Two of the things that have remained unwaveringly consistent and impressive about President Elect Trump is that he is loyal, expects loyalty from those who surround him and is an exceptionally gifted judge of people. Wicked good.
A third thing which is as impressive and as important as the first two attributes I mentioned is that people within the establishment who gave Trump an honest chance all became Trump advocates and not only supporters but without hesitation the converts spoke about Trump’s intrinsic goodness as a man, a husband, a father and an American who loves his country and wants to right the beautiful ship that is America.
In short people, even RNC establishment who chose to put the country before their own place at the trough, became advocates for Trump at the risk of being booted from the inner circle of trough beneficiaries, Trump believes that Priebus falls into this category of honorable people.
Remember it was Trump who said Anthony Weiner made Huma a security risk months before it was revealed that HRC’s emails were found on Weiner’s computer during a pedophilia investigation. Trump has a gift, a shrewdness for seeing through the layers of the onion and knowing the center before the first cut of the knife is made.
All that said I greatly dislike the saying “Let Trump be Trump.” No one, including Trump should be given carte blanche and the saying itself reminds me of the blind Obama Goose Steppers. I trust Trump but I will never sit back and refuse to question a decision he makes that does not seem to be consistent with candidate Trump.
I believe Priebus proved himself to be loyal to Trump during the campaign to the satisfaction of Trump, his children and his closest non-establishment allies. Given Trump’s track record that is good enough for me.
I trust Trump’s instincts about Priebus.
Now let’s sit back and watch Speaker Ryan get kicked to the curb.

Basically I remember two old sayings… keep your friends close, your enemies closer. And politics make strange bedfellows… So that about covers everything… Right now I am very optimistic.

I believe in miracles:
Seven Christian girls in Kirkuk, Iraq, were rescued unharmed from Islamic State militants who invaded their home for several hours as they hid under their beds covered by blankets.
They were never seen. Absolutely no doubt to me that this was a divine miracle.

From what I’ve read today, she was exemplary of “fairness”.
Her performance as a POTUS debate moderator showed is how true that is.
(It’s almost like God is stepping in, lately. I don’t speak bad of the dead, so “good!”)

So the school children (Hitler youth) of Seattle just marched down the street scream chanting “We reject the president elect”. I took a couple of quick video clips, but it would be to easy to pick out where they came from.
What good exactly is the public education system? I see no benefit at all. None.

I love the 10 year old that runs past the camera with a “F@#$ TRUMP” sign.
It make a person very proud the have children that will sell them out for a dollar to the collective.

One of my pet peeves is seeing young children being used for their parents’ political purposes. I don’t care which side they’re on. I can’t stand seeing little kids — who are too young to grasp any of these issues or know what they are talking about — at rallies or protests holding signs or in some group parroting what they hear at home. Yahoo election night coverage had children of the anchors and others working there gathered around a big map of the U.S. drawn on the floor with chalk. The little kiddies were tasked with coloring in the states using red or blue chalk, as the results came in. At one point they “interviewed” the children. There were 6-year-old girls lisping that they really liked Hillary and they didn’t want Mr. Trump to win. They were somewhat confused that they were coloring huge areas on the map red. Children need to learn about the process, but there is an appropriate age to get them involved in different aspects.

Same here. I even have a problem with children at pro-life rallies. I understand why they are used there, but I disapprove it.

I am steamed up and incensed. A commenter next door copied an entire article by Daniel Greenfield and posted it as her own comment in the Presidential Open Thread! I called her out and posted the link to Front Page Mag where it was originally published, but the comments are already up to Page 6 or so and that was on Page 4. Can y’all add any admin clout to such plagiarism? Really p’d me o! Her “comment” is #3254879.

So I was determined to feel better today… No whining about smoke… tennis was actually fun. Tonight I went out to see the moon, and there, in the distance was a long snake a twinkling lights..
I was confused because that is uninhabited mountain. Well, at least the moon was pretty. We have about 2.6 miles…

If you want to leave some of your precious stuff with us, we have room to store things. Both of the largest fires are well away from us. Right now, we are in no danger of fire, just the smokey air blowing around.

When I posted the other day that we didn’t have smoke here west of you, I couldn’t have been more wrong. Goes to show I haven’t been out of the house. After I told you that, my husband said it was all around our area. It’s been worse every day since. I can see the haze out the window all day. Have you seen that website suggested by the Forest Service: Inciweb.nwcg.gov – takes you to a page from which you can explore the various fires in our area. After you posted the other day, I went looking for more info. Thanks for motivating me. The Forest Service for the Chattahoochee-Oconee Forest has a facebook page also. I think some people are getting a bit concerned. The fire closest to us is over 21,000 acres now and they are estimating it won’t be fully contained until November 30.
I have a dentist appointment in Hiawassee Wednesday, but I think I’ll be cancelling that one, since they have more ash and stuff in the air than we do, based on what my husband said after he was at the dentist last Thursday. I’m having to up my sinus/asthma meds just from the little bit that’s getting into our house. There are two high-tech air purifiers running in my bedroom. We are lucky that we are on a hill, not down at the valley level where most of our area people live. It’s thicker down there.

We play tennis in the new Foster Park, but it wasn’t too bad up there. We stood there and sniffed and sniffed and that was our technical assessment.
Seeing the fire really is different. It is called the Rock Mountain fire,,, I heard that it has grown about .5mile per day.
Here ya go if you are curious.

Thanks, I’m watching the big one near you and the other big one west of us, the Rough Ridge fire. Our property and the forest all around us is nothing but one big, really deep pile of dead, dry leaves. Lightning started the Rough Ridge fire. Cold weather coming and already-low humidity is set to go lower, but I don’t think any storms are in the forecast.
