Yall gonna have to imagine that there’s a coffee pot, (or tea pot) here. My stoopid computer is on the fritz again, and my work laptop won’t let me get onto protonbucket to get the pot going. But alas, all is well with the world right now. Game 7 tomorrow night. I’ve notified Joe Maddon that I’m available to relieve the catcher for up to 3 innings, and/or pinch hit if necessary. Oilin’ up the ol’ glove as we speak. 😉

A day after he was controversially brought into a blowout rather than being preserved for a Game 7 appearance, Aroldis Chapman proved to be human by giving up Chicago’s three-run lead in just two batters.

Jon Lester had gotten the first two outs of the inning but was pulled from the game after Jose Ramirez hit a ball up the middle that Addison Russell couldn’t quite handle.

Bottom of 9th: Chapman Shuts Down Indians in 9th

This game is headed to extra innings.

Aroldis Chapman was back out to start the bottom of the ninth despite having looked completely worn out in the eighth. He got Carlos Santana to fly out before ending up in a long battle with Jason Kipnis. He fired Kipnis a steady diet of sliders rather than his signature heater and ended up in a full-count before slamming the door with a 97.4-mph fastball. Francisco Lindor flied out to right, ending the inning.

Just as the 10th inning was about to start, the tarps came out onto the field as the game is going into a rain delay. While it is not raining particularly hard at the moment, heavier rain is expected. Stay here for updates.

Top of 10th: Rain Delay, Then Cubs Pounce

                    10th

                    8 – 6 Cubs

The Cubs are back in the lead thanks to Ben Zobrist.

After a brief rain delay, the game resumed with Kyle Schwarber facing off against Bryan Shaw. The Cubs’ designated hitter once again attacked the shift, hitting a grounder through the right side of the infield for his third hit of the game.

Albert Almora came in as a pinch-runner for Schwarber and the move paid off when Kris Bryant hit a deep flyout to center and Almora showed off some tremendous baserunning ability by tagging up and advancing to second.

With first base empty, Shaw intentionally walked Anthony Rizzo to get to Zobrist. The versatile veteran who won a World Series with Kansas City last year made him pay for it by delivering a run-scoring double down the third-base line that energized the Cubs.

Finally, Chicago Cubs Are World Series Champions

By BENJAMIN HOFFMAN, DAVID WALDSTEIN and VICTOR MATHERUPDATED 12:48 AM ET

                10th

                8 – 7 Cubs

Throughout more than a century of baseball in America, where teams have risen to championship heights and fallen to miserable lows several times over, and where cities have lost teams, gained them and lost them again, there was always the Chicago Cubs and their futility.

Sometimes the Cubs were good. More often they were just bad. But since 1908, they had not done what so many other teams had, not even through fluke or plain luck.

The United States fought two world wars, the Soviet Union grew to dominance and then imploded, diseases were wiped off the earth and technology took us from newfangled automobiles to moon rockets and beyond — and still the Cubs could not win a World Series.

Their fans trudged in and out of Wrigley Field thousands of times over the years and came to believe the team was cursed.

But 2016 was the 108th year after their last title, and a baseball is sewn together with 108 stitches. This had to be the year.

                It was.

On Wednesday night the Cubs beat the Cleveland Indians, 8-7, in a Game 7 for the ages. With that victory — yes, the following words are really true — the Chicago Cubs won the World Series.

But it just couldn’t come easy, couldn’t be won without extra drama. The Cubs carried a 6-3 lead into the eighth inning, six outs away from a cathartic victory. But a double and a two-run home run by the Indians wiped out that lead and tied the game, and the deadlock held through the ninth inning.

Then the rain came. Of course. The top of the 10th inning was delayed for about 15 minutes by a deluge. But once it let up, the Cubs poured in on in the 10th inning, scoring 2 runs to provide the cushion they needed.

It is their third title in the World Series, a competition that was introduced in 1903, but this may be the sweetest and hardest-earned championship in the history of American sports. Making it even more sweet was that the Cubs trailed in the series by three games to one.

Upon the final out the players jumped and celebrated on the diamond while thousands of visiting Cubs fans screamed joyfully in the stands. Back in Chicago, where fans in the North Side of Chicago have waited generations for this day, revelers poured into the streets for party that will probably last days.

Back to posts next door from years ago… (A) Israel is not beyond selling advanced military technology to China. Thry were caught just after Desert Storm selling Hawk missle technology and a few years later trying to sell AWACS planes to China.
      (B) India has joined with Russia to make a joint 5th generstion air superiority fighter. India has beat US and NATO fighter pilots in ‘friendly’ meets. May be US and NATO don’t trust India enuff to let them see what we got but they are working hard to be THE air power in subcontinent Asia. Might be that both Russia and India are looking to contain China and having common weapons systems and tactics is part of their plan.
      (C) China’s already started to encircle India with naval bases and it looks as if achina’s going to have a battle fleet justbfir the Ibdian Ocean so it will beed everything it can, tech wise, to keep India off balance.

PS: fon’t look solely at the aircraft, you gotta look at the air-to-air missiles it carries. If you are flying a gen 5 fighter and the other guy’ s flying a gen 3 with superior AA missiles you are at a disadvantage.
There’s also the issue of pilot training. Israelis flew older US aircraft against newer NATO country and Russian fighters the Arabs flew but beat them soundly as the Arab pilots had way less air time and training than their Israeli counterparts did.
As US priorities seem to have shifted to the Rats bringing our enemies into the US so we/they don’t have to go so far to fight, making sure they are well-fed and healthy for the battle, I don’t hold a lot of hope for our pilots to get the equipment and air time they need to be the best.

As a separate aside, does it seem to anyone else (particularly from the comments/posts from Sundance this past week, the video Drudge prominently linked – https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ov5kvWSz5LM – and the FBI files dump on the Clinton pardon of Marc Rich with Comey involved) that we are now witnessing a hot civil war? It looks like the initial battles are between Clinton loyalists and Constitutional loyalists, fighting in the various layers of the gov’t, and spilling over online, with glimpses being caught by the public. Careers are being ended, alliances forged or destroyed, political casualties may start piling up.

Certainly, we’ll all get our say and participation trophies in just 7 short days. War is politics by other means, and politics is war by other means. This war seems like it is for all the marbles, for the ultimate destination and trajectory of the U.S. of A. The beginning of the end of the Constitution, or the current order. I wish I knew which.

The Year of Mercy ends in 19 days, at which time Jupiter enters the constellation Virgo for the next 9 1/2 months, to exit (9/23/17) when Virgo rises with the sun, with the moon below her, and Mercury, Venus, and Mars in the constellation of Leo, giving Virgo 12 “stars” above her.

It sure seems like events are Momentous these days. Large. Grande. Important. Decisive.

Very, very interesting. May God grant us and those who need it strength, fortitude, perseverance, stamina, and wisdom.

    Cheers!

    When my girls were little we did not celebrate Halloween but rather all Souls Day at our Byzantine Church, the children would dress up like saints and go to different people and sing this song;

🎼 Soul, soul, soul cakes, please good mister some soul cakes, an apple a pair a plum a cherry, any little thing that will make us all merry, Soul, soul, soul cakes, please good mister some soul cakes. 🎼

Then they would get a treated each child also got a small cake. Then all the families would share a meal (potluck) and our children would play and then we had a huge bonfire. Every year the fire department showed up.

    I miss those days.

    A blessed All Souls Day.

        Lyrics

        Soul Cake
        Sting
A soul cake, a soul cake,
Please, good missus, a soul cake,
An apple, a pear, a plum or a cherry,
Any good thing to make us all merry.

A soul cake, a soul cake,
Please, good missus, a soul cake,
One for Peter, two for Paul,
And three for Him that made us all.

God bless the master of this house
        And the mistress also,
        And all the little children
        That round your table grow,

        The cattle in your stable,
The dogs at your front door,
And all that dwell within your gates
We’ll wish you ten times more.
A soul cake, a soul cake:

        Go down into the cellar
And see what you can find,

If the barrels are not empty
We’ll hope that you’ll be kind,

We’ll hope that you’ll be kind
With your apple and your pear,

And we’ll come no more a-soulin’
        Till Christmas time next year.

A soul cake, a soul cake:
        The streets are very dirty,
        Me shoes are very thin,
        I have a little pocket
        To put a penny in,
If you haven’t got a penny
        A ha’penny will do,
        If you haven’t got a ha’penny
        God bless you.

          Also found this:

An earlier form of carolling – and trick or treating, to boot – is the tradition of “souling” or “soul-caking”.

As singers make the rounds, door-to-door, chanting ancient rhymes a welcome reward is a soul cake – for which there are a range of recipes.

Here’s one from Shropshire, a county in the West Midlands of England, that’s collected by Dorothy Gladys Spicer for publication in her 1960 book “Feast-Day Cakes from Many Lands”.

          INGREDIENTS

6 cups sifted all purpose flour
          1/2 cup butter
          1/2 cup sugar
          1 envelope active dry yeast
          1/4 cup lukewarm water
          1 egg white, slightly beaten
          1 teaspoon sugar
          2 cups milk
          2 teaspoons salt
          4 teaspoons cinnamon
          1/8 teaspoon nutmeg

          DIRECTIONS

Cream shortening and sugar. Dissolve yeast in 1/2 cup lukewarm water to which a teaspoon of sugar has been added. Set aside. Scald milk and add to the creamed mixture. When cooled add yeast mixture and stir until thoroughly blended. Sift together flour, salt, and spices, and add gradually to other ingredients, kneading into a soft dough. Set sponge to rise in warm place in greased covered bowl. When doubled in bulk, shape into small round or oval buns. Brush tops with slightly beaten egg white. Bake in moderately hot oven (400° F.) for 15 minutes. Drop temperature to 350 ° F. and bake until delicately browned and thoroughly done.”

To join in the musical feasting, here’s Allison Crowe, with the first song track served up by her a cappella album “Souling”: http://music.allisoncrowe.com/album/s

He was a chef before he became a priest. An outfit in NY offered him the head chef position at a restaurant that they were going to be opening. He turned it down to become a priest. On New Year’s Eve instead of dropping a mirrored ball we dropped a giant pierogi (made by him) and then shared by parishioners. The pierogi dropped into a huge bowl.

We had the best ever potlucks at his church, he cooked, everyone else cooked and it was really like one big family. He and I were very good friends, one of my greatest food compliments came when he told me that I made the best pasta salad and Lasagne that he ever tasted 🙂 .

This is James newest Veritas video, the one promising to show democrats denigrating black people. While it does what it promised to do it is nothing that many democrats have not said publicly. Weak James. Weak and it should not have been promoted as a smoking gun. Democrats have always been allowed to call conservative black people any derogatory name that they want to call them.

Sick and vile words as they are this will move no one.

There’s nothing there. O’Keefe has a much inflated view of his work.

“Blacks who are helping the other side are seriously fucked in the head,” isn’t racist. It’s partisan, ignorant, derogatory, etc, but it isn’t racist. Anyone helping the Dems and Hillary at this point is f*ed in the head, and that goes for blacks, whites, hispanics, latinos, Jews, etc.

There’s nothing that isn’t common sense, widely known, or said on a daily basis by every human being who has an opinion everywhere, here.

Thanks for letting us down, O’Keefe. Again.

That is a fair point, and the best thing released by veritas to this point.

I don’t know, maybe there are a lot of blacks out there who will get really pissed off about being compared to Jews, and traitor Jews at that. Those blacks that are on the side of libs generally already hate those that are on the side of right and truth, and disparage them in racial tones.

O’Keefe always has to bring himself into it, and i get that he needs to promote his work and project veritas for funding. However, I still don’t think he understands the relative importance of anything he is doing. The bombshell was the first video. Everything has been downhill since. He’s been promoting this latest video as the one that will finally take down Clinton and prove the left is racist. Not even close.

Veritas is good to have on our side. They do good work helping to expose truth and get some resources to use. They aren’t big guns, and on some level I relate to their targets. There are many times in my life, in a fit of righteous indignation, had someone taped it, I have said things that would put me in jail, prevent me from ever being employed, etc. It doesn’t reflect on who i am or what I feel or actually do.

O’Keefe markets these things like it is the end all and be all of persuasion and this will finally make everyone see and understand. It frustrates me greatly when it seems like he might be on to something, and then drips something like this. It is the ultimate anticlimax. It makes him and us look impotent and stuoid, and casts doubt on the rest of the actual good work he does do.

It seems Hillary’s et tu Brute? moment has come USA Today has turned on her.

Corruption is the cornerstone of the Clinton campaign

    http://www.usatoday.com/story/opinion/2016/10/31/corruption-cornerstone-clinton-campaign2/93070668/

If this wasn’t so incredibly dangerous it would be Saturday Night Live-worthy.

Despite how we feel about WikiLeaks, Americans should be thanking the good Lord the belly of the beast that is Hillary Clinton has been exposed for what it is. Emails have revealed, as the old song goes, corruption so high, you can’t get over it, so wide, you can’t get around it, and so deep, you can’t get under it.

Hillary wasted $2 million conducting focus groups to help positively brand her in hopes that voters would overlook the six-figure paid speeches from Clinton’s Wall Street buddies, ethical issues with the Clinton Foundation, and the optics of her Benghazi cover-up.

But as President Obama once said, “You can put lipstick on a pig, but it’s still a pig.”

People fail to understand that if Hillary wasn’t using an illegal server in the first place, there’d be no scandal and no FBI investigation. Hillary created this mess. All of it.As Watergate journalist Carl Bernstein recently said, the FBI wouldn’t reopen the investigation unless there was “a real bombshell.”

Wikileaks is, to me, a necessary thing. Look atbthe leaks and see how many really have an effect on the defense or readiness of the US and how many are lie/CYA based.
You work with classified information at all levels and you see that a lot is truly defense related but one helluva lot is stuff that’s largely available from unclassified sources, the classified version is just officially endorsed by the government or there may be a few more details available in the class version vice the open source version doesn’t have.
There’s also that big area that holds embarrassing info, as we’ve seen. Feds aren’t supposed to classify stuff just because it’s embarrassing but hey, if it’s classified who knows? I’m betting that when info like what the Feds ALLEGEDLY knew about US POWs from WW II through Vietnam is finally declassified, if it’s not accidentally lost in a fire or accidentally erased, we’ll see they were knowingly sacrificed for political reasons. Just guessing.
Wikileaks is a two-edged sword and I’m just hoping it causes more good than harm.

Ordered my first grocery delivery via Shipt. They shop at Meijer, in my area. The woman did a pretty good job; she texted me when she couldn’t find something or needed to substitute. The only error I discovered when unpacking and putting the groceries away – I ordered a bunch of beets with nice greens, and got a large bunch of radishes. I’ve seen recipes for cooked radishes, I think. I’ll have to try one!

Czarina’s b’ day tomorrow…so made the most out of the global warming gift and had a large bonfire out front. 70 degrees, no wind, glasses of cheap screw-top wine from the Msison d’Chevron (purveyor of gasoline, diesel, cheap wine and snax). Sat out there until the fire was a large pile of angry orange coals and the mosquitoes started showing up with BBQ sauce. Clear sky, no moon and stars all over the place…if our great horned owls had shown up it would have been complete.
