U.S. courts: Electronic surveillance up 500 percent in D.C.-area since 2011, almost all sealed cases
    https://www.washingtonpost.com/local/public-safety/us-courts-electronic-surveillance-up-500-percent-in-dc-area-since-2011-almost-all-sealed-cases/2016/10/22/48693ffa-8f10-11e6-9c52-0b10449e33c4_story.html

“Secret law enforcement requests to conduct electronic surveillance in domestic criminal cases have surged in federal courts for Northern Virginia and the District, but only one in a thousand of the applications ever becomes public, newly released data show. The bare-bones release by the courts leaves unanswered how long, in what ways and for what crimes federal investigators tracked individuals’ data and whether long-running investigations result in charges. In Northern Virginia, electronic surveillance requests increased 500 percent in the past five years, from 305 in 2011 to a pace set to pass 1,800 this year. Only one of the total 4,113 applications in those five years had been unsealed as of late July, according to information from the Alexandria division of the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia, which covers northern Virginia.”

I do believe we discussed this a number of times, most recently in the Monday thread. It’s all part and parcel of the post-911 shredding of the Constitution. How about them FISA warrants, thry even have their own panel of internal judges that issue them, the lstest Federal self-licking ice cream cone.
I hear tell that military intel people attached to non-military Fed intel agencies can even collect on US citizens or ‘persons’ if there’s a suspicion said persons may be a threat to the military. Howzat for a large enough hole in possee comitatus to drive a truck through? Just a rumor you understand.
I’m betting that at some point we’ll discover that illegal surveillance of citizens under the ruse of whatever is far more common than one would like to believe and that there were times when ilegal intel is whitewashed and used to get a real warrant or build a case. Jes spekulatin…..

Northern VA has a lot of Muslims, or enemies within.

      I’m conflicted on this.

How many of these cases are of law enforcement monitoring conservatives?

      I’m guessing few to none.

The sad thing, these last few years, is that all that monitoring didn’t stop the Tsarnaev brothers in Boston. Despite the fact that they were also being monitored by LEAs.

“Observe, Orient, Decide (not to) Act”. That’s the (re)current loop for our all-powerful-and-knowing government. Bless their hearts. And we actually PAY them!

FBI had a 24/7 monitor on a vety questionable Moslem enclave in Virginia well before 911. Ditto one on New York.
I’ve posted before that a couple of us mentioned in late 2001 that we’d like to start looking for muzzie terr training camps in rural areas but were told that was the FBI’s territory and we were to stay out of it. The Bureau was stretched thin at that point and even had we found anything it would have turn it over to them, but we were told no in no uncertain terms.
Let’ s get into our time machine and go back to the first attack on the WTC. Sidebar: when I posted a piece next door a few years back and said ‘first WTC attack’ another poster flamed me and said ‘what first attack, 911 was the first attack’. Anyway, the FBI was warned was warned about the pending attack by an ex-soldier who said the planners were recruiting him. DoJ put so many brakes on the use of the vet and infiltration of the Blind Sheik’s operation that the attack occured.
Another of my favs is a report the Bureau of Prisons did in the 90s showing that the Muslim outreach groups working in US prisons was funded and controlled bybthe Saudi Wahhabists and we’re recruiting the most violent of prisoners. The report came out as open source, anyone browsing the obscure BoP pubs list could order a copy. Suddenly after 911 it either didn’t exist or became impossible to get outside of government circles. Didn’t do all that much good though as copies were all already out there, I thought it was just an effort by the Feds to react to Saudi pressure, post-911, to Brillo the Saudi image.
Last last time I checked there were well over 20 known ‘questionable’ Moslem enclaves in the US and there are sure to be more we don’t know about.
Now it looks like we’ll hsve another Saudi money whore in the WH who, I’m betting, will take even more pressure off of radical Moslems in the US in return for ‘consideratiobs’. Let’s not forget that the first Moslem terrorist sttack on US soil occurred under a Clinton as did the planning for the second. Uhhhhh…just for the record I’m not suggesting the waves of cash that flowed from the Mideast into any Clinton foundation in any way has anything to do with the gates of US security being flung open to Moslem forces trying to destroy us.

This is your two-week warning, team. In two weeks, battle will be joined. Prepare accordingly.

As you may have seen next door, we have a new recruit. He’s a bit of an odd duck for us, but none-the-less, he’s a welcome addition.

Yes, that’s Michael Moore, or all the crazy leftist documentaries, explaining in just over four minutes, why Trump is going to win. Summarizing cold anger. It’s the strangest thing I’ve ever seen.

We’ve come to the end of the information superhighway. I never thought to see Michael Moore there, preaching for Trump. I’ve seen enough, to know that I’ve seen too much. Not even Klinger was crazy enough to believe this. We’ve earned a section 8.

Good morning! Good night! Goodbye, Farewell, and Amen!

Absolutely stunning. Moreso that he is speaking to a crowd that has been hanging on his every absolutely leftist word for years.

I bet most in the crowd are stunned, too.

Moore just force-fed the whole audience a red pill.

If he keeps this up, Michael of Tarsus needs to change his name.

Moore isn’t about to join the Trump cause. He’s still shilling for his own groupies. However, he at least sees, understands, and acknowledges what is going on. He’ll try to fight it, but he’s doing so much more honestly than almost anyone else on the left. I have to give the man kudos for that.

Pretty much like people in other states, I imagine. Depends on whether you are a conservative or a progressive. My own opinion is that he’s a big phony who is most interested in what Michael can get for himself. He will lie if it profits him. Prime example: he makes a big deal about being from Flint, MI. He may have been born in a hospital in Flint, but he grew up in Davison.

At work today, I talked to the lone conservative who got my text and the ungodly hour of 5:00 AM or so, and he loved it, then found that it was only part of a larger stage show that he is touring and performing, called TrumpNation.

I wondered, and still do, how he could be so spot-on accurate and right. None of the writers for any TV crime dramas could ever do that, so ensconced in their bubbles. Even if any could, none WOULD.

I can’t speak for any Michigander but me. I can’t (until now) stand the guy and always imagined him being the test-tube child of Rosie O’Donnell and Roseanne Barr.

I’d like to watch the whole show. Maybe he didn’t write this. He is looking down at a script the whole time while reading it. Maybe he has a friend, In Real Life, who is conservative and who gets it, who wrote this for Michael to read publicly, with (for some inexplicable reason and never-before-encountered) absolutely NO CARICATURE.

Trump launches nightly Facebook campaign news show

    http://thehill.com/blogs/ballot-box/presidential-races/302590-trump-launches-nightly-facebook-live-streams

Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump announced Monday that his campaign will broadcast a nightly program on Facebook Live that will run until Election Day.

The campaign will air the program at 6:30 p.m. from Trump Tower in New York City. The half-hour coverage will go live right before Trump’s 7 p.m. rallies, Trump’s advisers Boris Epshteyn and Cliff Sims told Politico. The show will also include conservative pundit from The Blaze Tomi Lahren.

“This is a HISTORIC movement. Together, we will once again make a government by, for, and of the people! Help us close out the final weeks of this campaign strong and WIN,” Trump wrote in a Facebook post that also include a link to a fundraising page.

The debut episode Monday night will interview Trump campaign manager Kellyanne Conway and adviser Jason Miller, according to Wired. Politico notes that Sean Spicer, chief strategist for the Republican National Committee (RNC) will also join the program…

My Palemoon browser (Firefox fork) locks up completely on sites with a lot of scripts, when I allow them. Sometimes even when I don’t via NoScript.

And this is a very recent occurrence. At least twice a day. Never here. This site only has 12 scripts running.

If you use this plugin, try this: right-click the page, or use the Noscript button at the bottom-right or your FF browser, look how many scripts are being blocked and select “allow all this page”. Then do it again and look how many more are being blocked. Sometimes (not recommended except for your most trusted sites, like Drudge, which has maybe two running) it takes clicking “allow all” four or five times to fully allow every script on a page to run. This is because many advertising scripts rely on other scripts, and those others on still yet others, and it’s all so arcane for most of us, that it is best to just deny them all, and allow them in individually.

        Trumpian mindset, no?

Oh, and if you go to a whole lot of newsy sites like Breitbart or ABCLocal sites or anything at all that Doug Ross’ automated BadBlue links to? There are eventually hundreds of scripts running when you do what I suggested above.

I have 24 gigabytes of RAM and a Core i5. There doesn’t exist a video game that can make my PC lock up. Many websites now? Just too much for it.

I never thought I’d see the day.

And is it any wonder that folks run various adblockers to avoid all the crap? The sites keep putting out pleas to “unblock us,” but won’t stop exposing us to viruses, malware, and poorly written code that kills our PCs.

I run two different adblockers simultaneously (adblock plus and Ublock Origin), and then ghostery on top of it to kill everything else. The web looks and works great. When I see someone not running those blockers using the internet, it’s like walking into a casino. There’s lights and sounds and movement all over the place, overwhelming the senses, and I just wonder, “who the hell would voluntarily do that to themselves?”

    Dumb American Youth
    By Walter E. Williams

    http://www.cnsnews.com/commentary/walter-e-williams/dumb-american-youth

Let’s start with the 2006 geographic literacy survey of youngsters between 18 and 24 years of age by National Geographic and Roper Public Affairs.

Less than half could identify New York and Ohio on a U.S. map. Sixty percent could not find Iraq or Saudi Arabia on a map of the Middle East, and three-quarters could not find Iran or Israel. In fact, 44 percent could not locate even one of those four countries. Youngsters who had taken a geography class didn’t fare much better. By the way, when I attended elementary school, during the 1940s, we were given blank U.S. maps, and our assignment was to write in the states. Today such an assignment might be deemed oppressive, if not racist.

According to a Philadelphia magazine article, the percentage of college grads who can read and interpret a food label has fallen from 40 to 30. They are six times likelier to know who won “American Idol” than they are to know the name of the speaker of the House. A high-school teacher in California handed out an assignment that required students to use a ruler. Not a single student knew how. …

The largest company that will be left is saying its plans will go up 25 to 41%, all of the raises forcing more prople to either just drop it entirely or go on Medicaid.
This is beginning to smell more and more like a plan to make just about all health insurance single-payer under the Feds with private companies selling individual policies that you can use to pay when the Fed plans says “Sorry, out of money, time to die!”.

Excellent article, excellent thruthsayers in the comments. Best thing I’ve read all day.

Long story short: the princes said to the poet, “Here, have a prize, and 900,000 guilders!” The poet said “Nah, I’m good.” The princes are angry at the poet’s arrogance.

1Such irony. Such ignorance of Dylan by the Elites in Norway. He never asked for your little prize.

If Bob Dylan was in Norway, the Rape Capitol of Europe, he would speak the truth about the whole Muslim situation, and still not be arrested for hate speech.

He would confound the censors. Like he always did.

Ha ha! I hope Dylan never responds.

Probably my favorite Dylan song 🙂

Favorite Dylan line even though it is not from Tangled Up in Blue.

I came in from the wilderness, a creature void of form
“Come in,” she said, “I’ll give you shelter from the storm”

More poetry and soul in that one line than in what most modern “artists” have written in their entire repertoire.

        Me too, Lovely.

Then again, he did respond: he ordered whoever runs his website to remove the reference to the Nobel from it, at they did.

The only person I ever turned, with my silver tongue, from progressive to conservative, is the biggest (not in size — he is kinda bigly-sized, but I digress) Bob Dylan fan I know. Now he’s the staunchest conservative I know. I don’t think I did it, though. I’m sure I was used to do it by a God Who is There.

Dylan doesn’t need accolades on this Earth. He doesn’t need to store up treasure on this earth. He knows.

        Lovely, you bring back memory.

The very first Christmas party (9 of them ago) where I work was at a local bar.

I didn’t know ANYONE but the line-cook/manager for this very new restaurant, who has since passed, and sat next to him. Karaoke was in the offing, and the dude I mentioned above (who is now like W. F. Buckley in an astonishing life-twist) chose to sing Tangled up…. I swear to Noah’s Beard that it took twenty minutes, the song is so long. And he was tone-deaf like Stevie Wonder is colorblind.

I couldn’t wait to get out of there. Not my element, by a long shot.

I also couldn’t believe he had the huevos to do it.

Now we’re both quite fearless with our voices.

I need to find a guide to Dylan’s music that isn’t Wikipedia.

      • Lovely! That’s always been my favorite Dylan tune. It always reminds me of an old boyfriend when I was young, He gave me the album for my 17th birthday. Memories…

Funny how music so often triggers such strong memories isn’t? I have always loved Bob (hippy parents) . I think what I have always loved about Bob is that if you just take a couple lines out of his lyrics from almost any song they are an entire story in and of themselves, “I helped her out of a jam I guess, But I used a little too much force”.

Silly Left. Dylan is a nonconformist. He doesn’t care what you think.

We open the new joint in two weeks.

    Barnwood, Burgers, Beer, and Bourbon.

Wanted it opened by last June, but you can’t rush this.

It would be neat if we could all share a 20-top.
