Goodnight all!

Thanks! I wish I could get Stella to eat. Since she’s on a special diet, I can’t just feed her anything old thing, and her appetite isn’t good anyway. Otherwise, she’s doing okay.

She’ll eat that sometimes. I switch out to potatoes. Or bread (she likes bread almost always). This morning she had potatoes, chicken, an egg and chicken fat. She ate half and refused the rest. Par for the course. Also, the protein has to be a very minor part of her diet, because of the kidney failure.
ADD: This is a dog that would eat almost anything when she was well.

Stella can you let her graze all day? Put little portions of food here and there in small bowls on the floor. Stella may be more apt to eat something that she “discovers” in an unusual spot on her own.

Shoot! I just remembered you have a cat who would likely eat it. Well maybe you could feed her small portions of food every hour? Just a thought, maybe you are already trying that.
LikeLiked by 2 people
Yes, the cat sometimes eats the wet food (she doesn’t like the dog’s dry food).

I do that already. I have a bowl in the living room, and one in the kitchen. This is a small house, so the only other room that she roams would be the dining room. Sometimes she will eat from the bowl in the living room.

Little treats of salt-free pretzels and low-fat cream cheese? A little kettle popcorn or Swiss cheese bits? Some thin slices of lean red meat? Kidney friendly treats that were cleared for one of ours with kidney problems.

The thing is, she’ll eat one thing, then refuse it the next time. It’s very frustrating. Fat is better than lean, btw. I gave her a little bit of cooked beef fat (from meat loaf) tonight, and some bread. She loved it.

Ohbyeah, ours get a bit of what we had for dinner after we eat, and frequently it’s fat, gravy or sauce on a piece of bread. They smell what we’re eating and it’s important to them to share. The smell and connection to our sharing what we’re eating seems to be the important thing to them.
I was saying lean/fat free as I thought you’d said she was trying to lose weight.

Sorry for the confusion. She has lost 1/3 of her normal body weight. You can see every rib when she lays down.

Fat it is then. People and animals with kidney disease frequently lose appetite. She might like the regular cream cheese, our cat did. Keep up the great work and good luck.

I’ll try the cream cheese. It’s allowed! I can’t believe the things she used to eat that she won’t eat now – raw carrots, bell peppers, bananas and apples, for example. Now (just this minute, all of a sudden) she is eating some kibble (a little).

I’m presuming that the vet checked for diabetes? Diabetes is what took out the kidneys on our old cat, we ended up doing insulin injectiobs, sub q liquids, special foods…
If her blood sugars are OK can you feed her pastry sweets to bumpmup her energy and appetite? Animals, like people with kidney problems, can go into a depressive state and that effects the appetite too. Sick animals are a full time job.

I believe they did. She isn’t particularly attracted to sweets though. She just ate some toast and part of a fried egg (from my plate). She does like toast with butter.

Can’t remember – are you supplementing her vitamins too?
LikeLiked by 1 person
Yes. When she will eat it – I don’t force that one. It’s a chewable. Her canned and kibble is also supplemented.
LikeLiked by 2 people
Maybe you should try feeding her from your plate. HER food, your plate.
LikeLiked by 1 person
I’m not sure that would make a difference. She truly isn’t interested much in food because of her illness. It isn’t a case of her being picky, because she never has been before. She is nauseated and feels ill in general. Worth a try, I guess.

I should have been clearer. I meant feed her from your DIRTY plate. Scrape it off and put her food on it. Might just be a little motivation.

She will eat a little, as well as canned chicken. The problem is, I can’t let her overload on protein; bad for her blood levels. Her kidneys can’t handle it.

Dairy ok?? I know you felt that the sugar in ice cream wasn’t good, but how about cheese? Parmesan sprinkled on food???? (too much salt??) Oh, you are both in my thoughts… and prayers… your little Stella….

I always have to consider how much phosphorus there is in the food. High-fat dairy is better. Cream, butter, high-fat cheese – but only a little. She has to take in far more in carbs – like white rice, potatoes, white bread.
If you page down, there is a table with a partial list of foods and their nutritional content. Dark meat poultry is better than white, high-fat ground beef is better than lean etc.

Her BUN numbers are quite high, although her creatinine isn’t as bad. We think she suffers from nausea, even though she isn’t vomiting, so she is taking Pepcid and an anti-nausea drug. The nausea would explain the food avoidance.

My old dog before he passed away had gotten to where he didn’t feel good and he had kidney problems among other things from old age. He would hardly eat anything. I would get our butcher to give us the fat and I would boil it and soup bones and use the fatty broth to cook rice in. Then because he was a small dog, I’d freeze small amounts of it and thaw it out for him. The last 6 months of his life that and a little chicken was all he would eat.

Toward the very end (when the i.v.’s were no longer an option – her veins were collapsing) for our ancient cat, we sautéed tilapia fillets or chicken legs in butter to tempt her to eat. She also liked chasing a teaspoon of ice cream around in a bowl of plain pedialite. She was such a fighter….. we did all we could to help.

I can give up a lot of foods. Not bacon. Hopefully she can eat it again after her baby girl is born. We just found out my step-daughter is expecting baby #3!!! She’s just 6 weeks but they’ve already got names picked out!!!! 😳
LikeLiked by 4 people
This baby has made her really sick, much worse than the first one. She says she’s done, which she’s been saying that since she got pregnant, regardless of what it was.
Names were always hard for me to pick out and we’d go back and forth almost up until the time they were born. With my last one, we thought he was going to be a girl, so we really didn’t put a lot of thought into a boy name. I changed his middle name after he was born. They brought the paperwork in for his birth certificate and I was alone and did it. Then when my husband returned I asked him if he’d mind changing his middle name. Good thing he was fine with it because I did it anyway. lol

I changed my middle son’s whole name without my husband there. Not like me at all. If he had done that I would have still been fuming. Fortunately, he must have been in a tolerant mood that day. He wasn’t crazy about it, but didn’t make a big deal out of it. When #3 came along, we used the original name. Funny how that works. His name is the one I really like the best now. If I went back in time I’d change the other two.
LikeLiked by 3 people
The good thing was we were giving him my husband’s middle name and he never really liked his middle name. We just threw it out there because we had came up with a first name and hadn’t came up with a middle name and then they told us after an ultrasound that he was a girl. At that point it became on the off chance they are wrong we need to have a middle name for a boy.
The only one of my kids I would change their name if I could go back and do it is my oldest son. It’s not so much that it’s a bad name, but over the years I’ve met a lot of people with his name that I can’t stand. lol

I found this article earlier. I wonder if it’s the same thing:
Doxylamine, along with vitamin B6, was a component of an anti-nausea pregnancy drug called Bendectin. The manufacturer stopped selling Bendectin in the United States in the 1980s because the company was targeted for lawsuits claiming birth defects. Yet the scientific evidence consistently showed no such negative effects — the manufacturer won all the cases — and the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) never removed approval for Bendectin. An equivalent drug (Diclectin) has remained available in Canada, and the company that makes it is seeking FDA approval to market the drug in the United States. “When Bendectin was no longer available in the United States, the hospitalization rate dramatically increased for nausea and vomiting, but stayed down in Canada,” Niebyl said.
Doxylamine is available without a prescription in Unisom Sleep Tabs, notes Niebyl. The manufacturer does not market the drug as a pregnancy-related aid, but doxylamine has been studied in more than 6,000 patients and found not to cause birth defects, Niebyl said. “It has to be the tabs, not the gel form, which is a different form of antihistamine,” Niebyl emphasized. “The combination of vitamin B6 and the doxylamine in the Unisom sleep tab is almost identical to the combination of active ingredients the FDA had approved for Bendectin. “Again, the FDA never removed approval for Bendectin; the company stopped manufacturing it for financial reasons. Women who want to try doxylamine, in the form of Unisom Sleep Tabs, and vitamin B6 should first consult their personal physician,” she added.

My niece had a hard time with her first one. She was in the hospital 3 or 4 times for dehydration. They finally put her on something that helped.
My daughter has asked her doctor and she just always says they hate to give anything unless it’s a last resort.
They are so darn picky anymore about them taking any prescription meds or even over the counter meds.
She had a really good day yesterday though she says she only got sick once and she slept all night without waking up sick. Maybe she’s finally getting past the sickness.

I think all the lawsuits in the past over meds that harm the baby have caused the docs to exercise extreme caution. The doxylamine that my DD took is considered to be safe. Stella posted info about it.

Thanks for the sympathetic ear 😊. It was worth it but my two older daughters were quite mortified when I would dry heave in the grocery store. The husband did a lot of cooking, they ate out (a lot 🙄) . I ate crackers before I got out of bed which helped a bit.
With my first I took prenatal vitamins, high in iron of course, which made me deathly ill, I ended up being severely anemic which I may have been before the pregnancy.

It made it worse with it being my third because I knew I shouldn’t be having contractions one on top of the other and that strong for that many hours. I knew they knew it as well as they were in there with everyone gathered around the ultrasound screen and all of their whispering out in the hall.

This Day in History: The Wright Brothers create a “practical” aircraft
NOTE: This took place six months before my mother was born, on April 10, 1906. She used to say that her life spanned from the days of the horse and buggy to the space age.
http://www.taraross.com/2016/10/this-day-in-history-the-wright-brothers-create-a-practical-aircraft/
On this day in 1905, Wilbur Wright makes a record-setting airplane flight. His Flyer III would stay in the air for more than 38 minutes. It was the longest flight yet! Indeed, that 24-mile flight was then a world record.
Perhaps most importantly to Wilbur and his brother Orville, the flight proved their Flyer III to be the first “practical” airplane.
As with any great entrepreneurs, the Wright brothers’ story is one of hard work, success—and failure. Naturally, those early failures proved critical in making the later successes possible.
The Flyer III flight came less than two years after the Wright brothers’ famous first flight at Kitty Hawk. That first flight had stayed in the air for all of 12 seconds! But on the fourth and final try for the day, Wilbur kept the plane airborne for just under a minute.
The day started well, but it ended on a bit of a sour note. After Wilbur’s last flight, the plane was caught and wrecked in a sudden gust of wind. It was just the first of many trials that the Wright brothers would face during the course of the next two years.
And yet they persevered…

State Police raid Indy office in growing voter fraud case
http://www.indystar.com/story/news/crime/2016/10/04/state-police-raid-indy-office-growing-voter-fraud-case/91540816/
Indiana State Police investigators on Tuesday searched a voter registration agency on Indianapolis’ north side as they look into a voter fraud case that spans nine counties.
The investigation began in late August when police learned of the filing of fraudulent voter registration forms in Marion and Hendricks counties.
The investigation has expanded from Marion and Hendricks counties to include Allen, Delaware, Hamilton, Hancock, Johnson, Lake and Madison counties, according to a statement from State Police.
Police said the growing number of involved counties leads investigators to believe that the number of fraudulent records might be in the hundreds.
The possible fraudulent information is a combination of fake names, addresses and dates of birth with real information.
As part of the expanded investigation, State Police detectives served a search warrant for the business offices of the Indiana Voter Registration Project in the 2400 block of North Meridian Street.
The search warrant was served Tuesday morning, police said. The results of the search are not being released, and the affidavit and search warrant will remain sealed for 30 days.

Indiana voter fraud investigation now spans 9 counties
http://www.americanthinker.com/blog/2016/10/indiana_voter_fraud_investigation_now_spans_9_counties.html
A former staffer on Bill Clinton’s 1996 presidential campaign is behind a voter registration organization that is now being investigated for fraud by the Indiana state police.
Indiana Voter Registration Project (IVRP), based in Indianapolis, may have submitted thousands of voter registration forms with fake, inaccurate, or missing information, according to state police. The investigation has been ongoing since August and promises to extend beyond the November election.
IVRP is more than a little shady. …

Should make the penalty per person a few years for each occurrence.

Yet the left says there is no such thing as voter fraud.
Between all the people voting multiple times, illegals voting and the dead voting combined with who is counting the votes, I honestly do not know how anyone can have confidence in our voting system.

The only way Hillary wins this election is through voter fraud. The only way. It will be harder for her to cheat her way out of a revolution.

Have I missed discussion on this gem in Massachusetts? Sorry if it’s already been posted. Soon, our faithful clergy, and some of us lay people are going to jail for being honest. And refusing to back down or lie or deny reality.
You can call a man a woman if you want to. I’m not going to accommodate your reality.

Begs the question if a man identifies as a woman and that man decides he wants to play professional tennis in the women’s league (or any other sport) does he get to play or does the ATP get sued if they don’t allow him to play against women?
Serena Willaims said that she would probably have to go to the 70th seed male in order to even return a serve. If Federer and Nadal are tired of losing they should just go play against women.

Good news: The SJW-infected and fully converged Wikipedia has been successfully forked.

No more, they said. No more.
SJW Twitter now has an alternative, as well.

Both are in their very early phases, but both will be impervious to SJW attempts to take over and censor or alter truth to Leftist conformity.
Facebook is next. If all three want to marginalize and ridicule half their user base?
Okay!

News is showing in-store surveillance camera video of a black gunman attacking and beating the clerk in a gas station right by our old house in NOLA. Gunman beat him before and after he got the money, clerk went to hospital with a broken jaw.
Yet another example of guuuunnnnn violennnnnnce. Had not that evil firearm seduced that young man he’d have continued his studies in nuclear physics, instead the sinister seductive powers of gun grease and blued steel claimed another innercity victim.
Prior to Katrina any violent incidents at that location were so few I can’t even recall one, the thug violence stayed a mile or two up the road by the projects and section-8 apartments. Post Katrina the gas stations, and more than a few customers pumping gas, have been robbed there. Most likely due to huge numbers of guns slithering into the area after dark and warping those young men’s moral values.

NOPD Chief, in commenting on this robbery, heavily stressed that if you are mugged here you should never resist and always give the mugger everything he demands. Then again, the present city administration did say they were exploring innovative ways of bringing new sources of income into the innercity area.
