BTW, two weeks ago I ordered a trailer hitch adapter for the 3-point on my tractor. Ordered it just before noon and actually had it in hand by noon the next day. Last week I ordered a 6-foot backhoe attachment with thumb from the same company. Ordered it at 4 PM on Wednesday and would have received it on Friday had the rain not been so bad, getting it today instead.
Company is outside of Memphis, I’m on the coast. They are about half the price of the big tractor places, are more eager to please the customer than the other major tractor players and dhopping/lift gate charges are included in the purchase price.
This is an American company, a lot of their farm supply stuff’s made on-site. I got more customer service on hold than most of the Big Boys give you when you’re sitting in their offices. Not that often I deal with a non-local farm supply, or even a local one that represents the Big Boys, and not come away feeling like I’ve just gone forca dip in the septic.

Yeah, I have mine 15 or more miles away and I don’t have a great assortment to choose from. I have to go through the usual ” it’ll work pretty well if change your task, don’t expect as much and stand like this” routine. If they have to special order it’s a couple of weeks or better.
These guys just surprised me with having what I needed, delivery and lift gate charges included in the purchase price. I have some minor digging to do and the six-foot,
especially with the thumb, at half of what local dealers were asking for one without the thumb, was a deal. There’s also that piece you have to go through where they don’t have what you want but do have a ten-footer out back they haven’t managed to sell and twist your ear telling you how this piece is really what you need, they’ll throw in free hoses yada yada yada.

The problem is that there is no E-Mail from anyone directing the CEO of that company to do the things he asked others guidance for.
While there may be a connection between the one request and a specific customer (Hillary), there is no way to prove he isn’t just showing his personal support for a customer that pays a lot of money on time.

Personally, I think the questions add to the already large mountain of evidence his company’s inability to provide competent technical services of any level.

Ahmad Khan Rahami, wanted for questioning in the NY and NJ bombings, has been captured in Elizabeth, NJ after a shootout. Two cops and Rahami were shot.
Seems Rahami’s family owns a fried chicken store there, though no word on if Ahmad had any part in it. Apologists quickly mentioned that Ahmad’s family was on the receiving end of religious persecution in the city, were arrested for simply recording a police interview and had to sue the city for harassing their business. No specifics but we don’t need them, we clearly see what the POtuS would see as ongoing institutional American racism.
Meanwhile, de Blasio is saying the investigation into the NY bombing ‘is definitely leaning’ in the direction of terrorism. Wobder If he’s formed any opinions about 911?

I’m thinking about starting a kickstarter project, asking for donations so that I can come up with however many millions of dollars it will take the Geniuses in I.T. to come up with a reliable predictor of how long it will take for your download to complete. In 45 minutes, my “time remaining” will say “43 minutes”. And it’s been this way since the dawn of the internet.

Why is this? You say, varying bandwidth and computing power on either side of the transaction. I say, ok, programming geniuses, learn the bandwidth on both sides, for the user, and at varying times of the day, week, or year.

Or perhaps companies who write programs which tell us how long we have to wait are all on Colored People Time, in which case I must just smile and say, oh well! at least their companies are Diverse. I mean, who cares about a product that works, right? Diversity is paramount.

      CPT is real, folks.

I downloaded Fallout 4 the other day. The whole time, I was being told I had two hours or so remaining. The number kept changing over the next six hours, but not by more than a few seconds. Not until hour five or so did it start going down substantially.

CPT means multiply whatever time estimate they give you by a factor of three. At least.

Say I walk into Wal-Mart, on December 24, at 8:00 PM. The place is a hornet’s nest.

The Greeter says to me, upon entry, “Hi! The checkout lines are really fast tonight!”

I then wait 3 hours in line.

The Greeter was lying. Then she keeps coming up to me and telling me I only have 43 minutes left until I can be served.

What company would keep this employee?

That employee wrote the algorithm that tells us how much time we have remaining on a flippin’ download. They’re probably in a protected class, so i can’t complain.

Actually, diversity is only lately. It was always make a quick buck at the expense of everyone else. Most new products on the shelves for consumers to buy are older components assembled in a new case. Programming is so inefficient now that new computers spend most of their time looping through useless code before doing anything meaningful.

    • nyetneetot says:

It wasn’t always this way. But it was before windows that the computer wasn’t doing other things at the same time as your download. 1MB took about 55-56 minutes via X-modem almost to the second.
As I recall the story, the whole download time remaining in MS Windows was a guess from the very beginning. There were too many things outside of the connection established speed to factor in and line noise was a big X factor. Mostly it was all the other programs running checking mouse cursor location and screen redraws. Now it’s become even more complicated as computers are faster untold numbers of programs running at the same time using recourses. To top it off, programmers are even more lazy than ever before and write horribly inefficient programs/apps.

It would add to the download time significantly for the computer to constantly read all conditions and update your download time more than it does.

I was in a waiting room today. Some ignorant rude SJW sat down across from me and started watching something on her phone without using headphones. It was very loud.

She was unresponsive to “the look.” 🤔

So I keyed up a Trump rally, turned the volume up on my phone, got up and sat down right next to her and started watching it 😜.

Heh, heh, if looks could kill I would be dead.

She told me she was listening to something. I said “Yes and you’re forcing everyone else to listen to it, that is the problem.”

She huffed, turned her phone off and got up and moved to a new chair, never made eye contact with me once.

So far a good day 😎

I learned the trick of getting up and moving next to someone when I was dating a Marine. We were at a movie theater and the couple behind us kept talking, my boyfriend asked them to stop and the chap told my boyfriend that if he didn’t like it he should change his seat. My Marine stood up on the seat of the chair stepped over it and sat down right next to the loud mouth. The chatty Cathies never said another word 😀.

You know I feel the same way. When I’m in Chicago and see BLM idiots with their pictures of the Trayvons and Michael Browns of the world I don’t say to them what I would like to say because I value my life and the lives of the people with me. That said, I have always spoken my mind but respected people in their ignorance also. Now not so much. Today ignorance is getting people killed so I say more. Most people shut up quickly.

I definitely don’t go around confronting people willy-nilly but I definitely call people out on their ignorant rude behavior because it isn’t something that is happening in a bubble.

Just last night I was at a social function and a woman said that she is a mentor for a company and her job is to coach and guide mentors below her through practices that the company frowns on in online chats with customers such as personal family talk, religion, and then as a joke she said or voting for Trump. I asked her if she can encourage them to vote for the woman who let 4 men die in Benghazi and who accepts millions of dollars from Muslim countries while simultaneously claiming to be an advocate for women. It was uncomfortable for a moment but because of the setting the subject was changed and nothing more came of it.

That is something likely I would not have done 6 months ago. Today is a new day.

We saw a mixed breed black dog that was skin and bones and looked to have mange when we were coming home today. It was running down the dirt road. Not very charitable of me I know, but I sure hope he finds someone else. It would be kinder to the dog if they would just put them down rather than dump them off.

We only have three shelters in the county and all three are ran by cities who only allow dogs found in the city. If you don’t have a city address they won’t take them.

There is one rescue group but they will only take small dogs and puppies. Small dogs and puppies are easy to find homes for, big dogs not so much.
I try when I can, but diseased looking dogs I won’t risk making my animals sick and dogs who snarl and growl I won’t risk getting bit. Then of course starving dogs and dumped dogs often form a pack and then your livestock is at risk. That is what these people who dump dogs in the country don’t understand, very few find a home, most get ran over, starve to death or shot.

I get tired of being a dumping ground as well.
