OMG-OMG-OMG!! You can admit that in public? Girlfriend, rectify that immediately! You can’t be even an honorary GRITS without a deep knowledge of GWTW. One of the great films of all time, even with a Brit playing Scarlett.

Sorry 😐 We had a store when I was growing up where we sold pictures of iconic scenes from GWTW (<<<see how quickly I catch on) does that count for anything?
We also had a neighbor when I was growing up ands would stand at the foot of our stairs (about 8 concrete steps) she would lean back on the pillar at the bottom and say "Frankly , whoever, I don't give a dam*!") She thought she was incredibly funny?
One day maybe 🙃.

We have a theater here that was built in the 20’s I believe. So GWTW was shown there when it came out. They have refurbished the theater and it is beautiful and I can’t wait to see it next year when they show it again. I missed it this year.

There is a theater near my parents house that plays old movies once in a while. I’ll ask if it is one of the ones that they play.

I have seen the movie many times, but never in the theater and it is a big production. I can’t wait to see it on the big screen.

I loved Gone With the Wind. And, Olivia DeHavilland played a mousy, plain woman. She is neither mousy or plain, but she acted that way, if you know what I mean. Near the bottom of this article is a picture of her as Melanie. She actually aged very well, and I always thought that as an old woman she was beautiful for her age.

Anytime I’m in town with my daughter we take my grandson to the park. One day it was near a hundred and he’s playing on the slides that are in the shade and a friend of mine was driving by and saw us and stopped. She’s from Wisconsin and has only lived in Oklahoma for about 10 years, so she thinks our summers are horrid.
She gets out and asks me if I know it’s over 100 degrees and I tell her that it isn’t quite 100 yet. She tells me we’re all going to die of a heat stroke and I tell her it’s cool in the shade.
She then tells me Okies are crazy, act like it’s a nice spring day to play at the park when it’s hotter than hell but won’t walk outside when it snows.
Not exactly true, we just don’t go to the park. lol

I was a transplant to Upstate NY for a couple of years. I was with a group at a house where they had just recently redone the black top on the driveway. A baby crawled over and started across the driveway. I leaped up and ran to her and grabbed her up off the blacktop expecting to see big blisters on her hands and knees. Nope. No problem. I felt the blacktop and it wasn’t even hot. If we had been in Florida, just about anytime, she would probably have been burned.

There are a lot of reunion stories but my fav was a few years back when the Smithsonian obtained a rather chewed up WW I fighter aircraft and restored it. Thry established its provenance and in the process found the name of the US pilot who flew it in France. On a whim they checked to see if if he had relatives they might include in the unveiling only to discover he wascstill alive. They brought him to DC and surprised him, not the best thing to do with a 100+ guy, and the video of the reunion was really great.

WWI? Really? Wow. I would love to see that video. I tried to find it, and stumbled across the story of Arthur Raymond Brooks and his WWI Spad, which is similar to the one about the P-38 named “White 33”

When I moved to La from Ut I came with my 12-year old middle son. I drove 5-ton U-Haul from northern Utah to Louisiana taking back roads to show him the country. We were outside of Cortez on a crappy road when we found ourselves in a sea of sheep. The Navajos were moving flocks between seasonal grazing so we sat on the hood of the truck for about an hour as the huge mass was slowly herded by us. It’s a great place, just not enough water.

Short delay, it’s raining here, something that doesn’t present a problem in the Four Conners area. Hovenweep’s a national monument, depicts some 10-thousand years of ‘Indian’ activity in the area, best way to do a compact archeological tour of the area. Google the location, though I’m not sure of the amenities there as it’s been over 30 years since I dug in the area.

Got doubts that, if the POtuS had his way, we’d have rivers of blood flowing in US streets? Not animal blood either. Only hope is that the first ones offered up as party favors are the apologist progs who brought this down on us.

Hillary for America processed a total of $94 in unauthorized charges to Carol Mahre’s US Bank account. This follows a pattern in which unwitting donors are charged multiple times, but always for a total of less than $100, which is a key trigger point for banks’ internal action systems. Is that not the most despicable of her money thieving??? Small amounts from those that can least afford it. 👿

And whoever is doing it for her knows that amounts over $100.00 trigger a bank alert so they keep it right below $100.00 . Dirty and corrupt through the bones to the soul and back out again.

And yet… who to hate?
Powers and principalities. Not flesh and blood.
Pity this deceived commie human who made her bed and now lies in it. Her end is not fun, to which fact we bear witness, over these last few years. Even with all that money.
Anyone here ever watch the ending of Babylon 5? She is going to sit amidst the wreckage and ruin that she created, absolutely alone, while it all burns around her.

She’ll be all by her royal self, on her decayed throne, weeping, finally realizing that the loneliness and the her burning surroundings are all her fault.
I wish I could be looking her straight in the eye and nodding, knowingly, if and when this happens. Surely many angels will, if not Our Lord.

Checking in today after a few weeks of being in lala land, in a state where my head was so woozy that I couldn’t think straight enough to post. Apparently the culprit was a new med my doctor gave me, which messed me up in several ways, plus the onset of allergy season which started up inflammation in my eustachian tubes and led to the wooziness and loss of balance. I was staggering around like a drunk!! One of maybe two good things about my time in northern VA was that my asthma/allergies/sinus infections almost completely went away. Now I’m back in the deep South, surrounded by miles of forest. Today is the first day in a long time that I feel like I can write a coherent post. I hope it’s coherent, anyway… 🙂
I knew I probably had some hearing loss, and the tests confirmed “mild to moderate.” I’ve been content to just up the volume on the radio and tv a little bit, but I know the doctor will be pursuing further solutions when my ears recover from the inflammation issues. (So far, my husband isn’t telling me the tv sound is too uncomfortably loud when I ask him. I do ask him to repeat himself at times.) If any of you have knowledge of or experience with modern hearing aids, I’d appreciate your thoughts, since I know absolutely nothing. No one in my immediate family has a hearing aid, and the last time I paid any attention, people were wearing those big ugly plastic things. I am under the impression that there are questionable practices/products in the field of hearing aids. I would like to avoid going further with this right now. I feel like they are going to push me on it though and I want to make good decisions.

My best friend had hearing loss and got a hearing aid. I was with her when they tested her and a few weeks later I asked when she was going to get it. She said she had been wearing it for several weeks, and I never noticed. It was so small it wasn’t even noticeable, even with short hair. She was pretty happy with it. I wish I could tell you what kind it was, but she died last year and I can’t remember the name of the place we went to.

I’m not a drinker, so these tablespoons of homemade cough syrup and hot toddies have been getting me tipsy. lol
I haven’t had a good night’s sleep in several nights so my DH keeps telling me I need to leave out the honey and lemon and just start drinking out of the bottle so I won’t know I’m coughing and can’t breathe through my nose.
Heck and his advice didn’t cost me a penny, the doctor charged me $160 to tell me to take Nyquil or an equivalent at night and to drink plenty of fluids until it runs it course.

It’s pretty much anything you can think of, and many more that will surpass your imagination. For one thing, if you like Mexican food (without being Mexican) that’s “cultural appropriation”. So it’s a thoughtcrime to like enchiladas, and maybe support someone’s family restaurant? The rabbit hole goes very deep.”

I’d probably end up on the news, nobody has a sense of humor anymore.
Saw on the local news tonight a high school had a float for homecoming week that said, “Scalp the Indians,” it apparently is a big deal. News is reporting it and the Superintendent said it was disrespectful and wouldn’t be tolerated and the float had been dismantled and he apologizes for it and those responsible will be punished.
One of the best floats I ever saw was a funeral pier, with an Indian getting a proper burial. I’m guessing it would get them arrested today. lol

It seems to be on a fast pace these days. Just a few years ago nobody would have batted an eye over a homecoming float that said that.
Now it’s actual news.
I guess floats now will wish the other team luck in beating them at their homecoming.

“At the distance of the Sun from the centre of the galaxy (about 8 kpc or 24 thousand light years) we move at an orbital speed of about 220 km/s and take about 230 million years to make one revolution around the centre of the Galaxy.
Stars also have some random motions – they don’t orbit the galaxy in exact circles. This random motion usually amount to a few tens of km/s in some direction.
As observers we see this motion of the stars as what’s called ‘proper motion’ – the projection of their velocity onto the plane of the sky, and ‘radial motion’, which is the projection of their velocity along our line of sight. We can dectect radial motion by looking at the wavelength shifts it creates in the spectrum of the star. Proper motion we detect by plotting the position of the star over time and seeing how it moves relative to more distant “fixed” objects. The star with the largest proper motion is Barnard’s star which moves about 10 arcseconds (0.003 degrees) per year. A more typical proper motion is about 0.1 arcseconds a year.”
Or 2000+ years ago our North Star was Tubin, now it’s Polaris in the constellation Ursa Minor
