Won’t you keep it in a pot? I thought the hibiscus couldn’t survive winter cold.

I think it gets colder in the winter where the Colonel lives, that’s why I asked.

They do have some varieties now that will withstand colder weather. My sister gave me one a few years ago that said it was good down to 20 degrees. I found another one this year that said that as well.
So far the one she gave me has survived, we’ll see about this one. However, we haven’t had a long cold winter like the Colonel has in several years.

These are okay, bred for zones 5 thru 7. along as the winter sun hits the ground, and the root ball is about a foot below ground level with mulch around will survived. Late blooms, mid June till frost. Most if not all of my Daylillies have gone to seed. And in late September, early October I’ll put down about 30 yards of black mulch for winter……..

Up there you should plant it close to the compost pile so you won’t have as far to carry it. Even down here we get winter kills on them

Actually you might try what we do with our tropicals when yankee weather threatens. We have large pots that we can load onto a cart and take into the garage, though you have to have a warm enough garage and a light source. You might also look at the Rose of Sharon hibiscus pretender, close enough looking to a real hibiscus for government work and they should survive winters in your area.

So have mind, on the east corners of the house, then along the fence line. Multiple colors, the “poor man’s” rose bush as my Aunt would say and a heck easier to take care of.

I had to make 6 dozen blueberry muffins for racers tonight.
Don’t tell anyone, but I was lazy and didn’t feel like making that many from scratch for guys who inhale without tasting anyway, so they came out of a box.
The cheap Jiffy boxed ones at that.

I’ve always been a fan of Jiffy when I don’t feel like making cornbread or muffins from scratch or I’m in a hurry.

Blueberry Muffins!!!!! I wouldn’t inhale, just savor the flavor, oh the smell of blueberrys, moistness of the muffin…. Okay in a little bit, making the trek into town, bakery for a chain restaurant…….. Michellc this is torture……

We got six bushes for presents when we first moved in and the crank out blueberries like no one’s business. Not that we need them, obevof THE crops here is blueberries, our small rural town has a blueberry festival each year. We’ve done everything with them from Muffins to pancakes to bread to sauces for meats and desserts. Favorite way to eat them’s to grab a handful each time I walk by.
