Okay, I admit I had never taken the time to watch or listen to Lady Gaga. All I knew about her (until fairly recently) was her weird costumes, on-stage antics, her LGBT advocacy etc. Maybe a Madonna wannabe. In other words, I didn’t think she had anything to offer that I would want to buy.
I’m not about to become a Gaga groupie, but I did hear something that amazed me, although I have reason to believe that maybe I shouldn’t be amazed, because this woman has genuine talent! If you did not watch the Academy Awards last year, then you probably didn’t hear this either; I saw it at PJMedia.
The other thing I learned via PJMedia is that she performed in Tel Aviv, Israel, and said to the crowd:
“Put your hands up and cheer for yourselves,” she told the crowd. “You are strong, you are brave, you are confident, and I f*cking love you, Israel.”
Afterward, she stressed that “the world view of Israel is just not reality.”
“It’s in a beautiful place, the people are in good spirits. I had a very emotional show with those fans. It was wonderful.”
Immediately after her performance at the Oscars on Sunday, the Twitter world began their hate campaign against Gaga, the ‘Zionazi’:

And, finally, but not the least, Gaga performed the National Anthem at the 2016 Super Bowl 50:
But it was not only her stirring performance, but what she said about it, that impresses me:
just thought about the lyrics and what they really mean,” said Gaga. They’ve been around a long time, so I thought about what they mean now, I just sang from my heart.
No matter what you go through, the same as our country, that metaphor of ‘but the flag was still there’ is so powerful for me every time,” said Gaga. “I’m really singing it from the heart and I’m also singing it very true to the way it was written because that’s when I think it sounds its most majestic. There’s no greater honor than standing next to the Color Guard, the Flag, the Army and the Military and singing the National Anthem.
Gaga now has at least three check marks in the positive column, in my book. What say you?

Good taste! Although many have compared her to Madonna, I think she’s more like Barbra Streisand in her early days – quirky and very talented.

I thought she was bats..t crazy and never heard her sing until Sunday. I honestly didn’t even know she could sing.
My daughter was telling me she thought she had a come to Jesus meeting. That she had heard she said that she knew if she kept going down the path she was going she was going to be dead.

I don’t think so. I think the craziness was more an act, to get attention, to build an audience. Before that, she was a lounge singer in New York, like Streisand, but Italian rather than Jewish (like Madonna). I think she was always more traditional than anybody knew.

She was raised Catholic. She practices kabbalah, which is some Jewish mystical thing. She’s not Jewish, either by birth or conversion.

I honestly know very little about her because I never cared because of how she acted and the crazy things she’d say that sometimes would get through my filter.
My daughter saw her in an interview or something recently and she said she didn’t go into great detail but talked about how she came to realize this person she has become was not who she was and it was taking her down a dangerous path. So she was trying to find that person again.
So maybe she was this person we’re seeing now and maybe it started off as an act but took a life of it’s own?
Like I said though until Sunday I tried to avoid anything about her, because to me she appeared nuts.

Thanks for bringing that to our attention. I didn’t watch the Superbowl and didn’t hear her sing. I had no idea she was pretty, that she was sane, or that she could actually sing. Although, I did hear her with Tony Bennett one time and that should have been a clue. She did an amazing job on the National Anthem.

I like some of Lady GaGa’s music and was initially a bit fascinated with her after she wore her “meat dress” and didn’t seem to be your typical vapid performer.
GaGa has a genius IQ (estimated to be higher than teh Donald :shocked: ) and was musical prodigy playing the piano at the age of 4 and accepted into the Manhattan School of Julliard when she was 11.
She was raised Catholic but she is now generally against established religions.
It’s more self-worship, I think, not of me. I’m teaching people to worship themselves.

One of her songs “Marry the Night” speaks to me of someone who really does live in a parallel world but is cognizant of the real world. I don’t think that GaGa is mentally ill but I think her genius gives her a uniques view of the world.
A few very brief nude scenes, but the song and thoughts are genius IMO

I saw her sing at last years Oscars, and had heard a couple of her ditties with Tony Bennett. I came to the conclusion that she had some chops but wasn’t all that interested in hearing her very often. I was driving back to H-town when she sang the Star Spangled Banner. While not quite as good as Whitney Houston’s version, I was very impressed. Even more so after I read some of the stories the last couple days.
